Anyone here ever used the child sitting services such as Kids night out or Fairygodmothers?? My oldest can go to the Cubs Den but that still leaves my 2 yr old. Not to keen about strangers, but we would like a couple hours alone. Just wanted some 3rd party opinions.:scratchin :scratchin :scratchin
Ga Girl, I don't have much info as I didn't use any services on our last trip - just didn't get around to it:rolleyes:

Anyhow, before the trip I posted this thread asking the same question.

I think that this trip I may give them a try. I'm still debating...

Did you all see the post about the Carriage Rides from WL?

Here's what it said:
Wilderness Lodge Holiday Sleigh Rides

Enjoy a leisurely 30-minute carriage ride through the Walt Disney World backwoods from November 30 - December 30! . All rides depart from the Porte Cochere in front of the Wilderness Lodge and will return to the same location every half hour between 5:30pm and 10:00pm (December 24th hours are 3:00pm - 7:00pm). Cost is $30 (tax included) per carriage. Up to 3 adults and 2 children or 4 adults will fit in the carriage. To reserve call WDW-PLAY; Please arrive 15 minutes prior to ride time. For same-day bookings, call 407-824-2832. A $30 fee will be charged for no-shows or for cancellations within 24 hours.
Now I have to questions, the first is is this a new thing? I remember that they used to have carraige rides at Ft. Wilderness. Second, what/where is the "Porte Cochere" (I feel stupid for asking)

Anyhow, I'm definately calling today to try to book. $30 seems WELL worth it!

Oooh, look at my countdown!! :hyper:

Thank you all for the wonderful information about the Wilderness Lodge. We just returned (Nov 8-15) and we loved VWL. My sons are 3 and 5 and they were extremely impressed with the hotel! The pictures of the lobby just can not convey how impressive it is! We also loved the smaller lobby at the Villas - it was usually very quiet and a nice place to relax.

Roy!! Open the door!! It is muggy here and I need some of that cold air!!

I am going to MK on Saturday for the day. Plan on scoping out the WL rooms too. What shall the weather be?? Shorts?

Also..do AP holders pay for parking? I haven't parked in a lot for a long time...
Anybody need anything from the World? Post card?

DisneyDmbNut- my family will be at the WL on Saturday, we leave tomorrow! Whoo Hoo! Muggy sounds good to us. It's been grey and cold here in Wisconsin!

A Porte-Cochere is like a porch roof that a carriage can park under to protect people from the rain when they get out of their car; e.g., where you get out of your car at the front of the widerness lodge.

I think it is just amazing that they are going to bring in all those snow machines to have enough snow for sleigh rides!::MickeyMo

I'M BACK

Boy you leave for a few days to enjoy WDW and then it takes all morning to read up to find out what's be happening here while I was gone.

I had a GREAT VISIT and everthing (almost) was MAGICAL.
May have to do a trip report, found Memory Box posted our adventures on Fred's thread.....

The WL was beautiful with the Christmas Tree's (lost count on all the tree's through out the lodge) and all the decorations, Christmas Music, for anyone going before Christmas you must walk over to the Villsa and see the beautiful tree in the lobby there....

Wild Wonderful Wackey WL Weatherman (FloridaCat) did a great job this past week-end beautiful Disney weather just a little chilly at night...light jacket or over shirt was just right..(Hey I'm a native Floridan) thin blood. Most people just in T-shirts.

Wlrookie: You are going to love the Villas at Wilderness Lodge, your right we DVCer that bought at the WL are happy with any Villa there, you just don't hear about this Villa or that Villa's view because they are for the most part the same woodsview a few over-look the Hidden Springs Pool. (quiet pool) I would ask for pool view (if you would like one) and to be close to elevators that's about it. Last Spring we where given a Villa over-looking the entrance to the VWL at first I wasn't thrilled because we could see a dumpster way down at ground level....but then I noticed this Villa had more sq footage then any other 2bedroom we had previously stayed in (larger living room, dinning room ,and kitchen) so I would stay in it again. Any questions you have please post I will try and answer.

Ratpack: HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY (GO NOLES)

I will add that on second day at EPCOT that a Mother with child in stroller took this Disney Vet out in a split second. One minute we are walking back to Mission Space to use our fast pass, next I'm down on the ground in the middle of the breezeway at Inoventions East. I felt like a cow landing hard on my left knee and hand.....Emergency Emergency....worried CM, Mother of family of five apologizing....2DN'S DS and nephews girlfriend trying to make sure I was alright...strangers stopping to see the cow that had made it's way to EPCOT.....All I wanted to do was to sit right there where I was for a minute...I asked if the baby was OK...after all he just had a large cow fly over him...Baby was great...Told Mother she didn't need to call the law..maybe she ment lawyer? Told CM no I didn't need medical assistance....I didn't want to spoil even one hour for anyone and I knew that it would require much paper work...So I sucked it up and continued,
I lasted long enough to give three fastpasses away to a family that had just been told it would be a 90 minute wait to ride Mission Space The Mother said "I Love You" I said,"just a little PIXIE DUST pass it on.".....

Corky: Mission Accomplished will PM

Beckie,

I am so glad you had a great trip. Sorry to hear about your accident....I hope there is no lasting damage. I hope you can find time to do a trip report...I need a little WL in my life right now! LOL

Have a magical day all!

Sorry for not being around as much lately. It's been pretty hectic in my life as of late and I haven't had as much time to participate in the thread here but I "have" been popping in to read the posts here and there.

1) It appears that my memories box is doing well although it may be a little full! If you go down, take something out and keep it as a memory. Just think, the trinket you are taking is coming from some other part of the world from someone that thought it was special enough to leave it for you. I never really thought about how magical this box would / could be until now. Heck, some are even leaving post cards to be picked up and sent to someone else. It's a point of gathering. A common link that WE ALL will have (if I have my way) forever. The box is something we could all have gone to or will be going to. Thanks to everyone for making it so special. People thank me all the time but it's they that I thank for adding to the magic. I am moved with every trip report that mentions my ever so popular box. For that, I thank you all.

2) I thought that you would all find this little story amusing. My wife went out to get us new bed sheets and blankets today. We like to put flanel on the bed in the winter. She found this really cool set at Kohls here in the north east. Has nice nature colors and animals on it. I like it alot. Little did she know that after she got it home and opened the bag that she would find the name of the theme for the set to be "Wilderness Lodge"!!!!! I was completely amazed. It made me laugh yet at the same time, it reminded me of that connection I have with the lodge.

So, that's my rant for the night. I haven't posted in a while so I hopefully made up for it. :)

Goodnight WL Family. You ARE all family to me. Don't forget that.

Fred

Well, not a total one. We did eat lunch there the first day and while the place was empty, our server was fun. However, we had a PS for 8:30 for Saturday night for four of us. We checked in at 8:20 and were told a 15 minute wait and were given a pager. No biggie; we usually count it as 15 from our PS time, too. Well, 8:45 came and went and they had been telling everyone that came up it was a 15 minute wait. DH went up and asked about seating and they said we were next. Now it's past 9 and we're still waiting. DH goes up again and is told we're next again. So he goes off guest services to ask about the wait at Artist Point. They don't know, so he comes back and we were still waiting, so he goes off to Artist Point and the girl there tells him 30 minute wait, but we'd probably be seated sooner than that. So he comes back.. it's going on 9:30. DH and my mom are both diabetic - they now HAVE to eat, especially mom. So DH goes up again and asks about our name and they say we're next, he says we're not and tosses the pager down. We head over to Artist Point and are seated within 10 minutes. The manager there was great, as was our server, but DH is still grumbling over WCC. He says he refuses to ever make PS's again. (Silly boy - like I'd let that happen.) But it was upsetting. Granted, it was a Saturday night and the place was kicking, but what is a PS worth when it isn't honored?

The cool thing at both WCC and AP, was the chef came out to discuss my nut allergies. That has never happened before, but our server at AP said it's required and that they try to learn every ingredient in a dish. The AP server and chef went over a lot of the menu with me, which I didn't really need, but it was great of them to do that.

We did love the WL. Some of the buses ran slow, especially Downtown Disney, but it was all ok. We loved the boat to the MK. Roaring Forks had a great food selection. We found the hidden Mickey in the fire place and made my mother and my aunt look for it. lol They found it, too, but it took them two days. :) We found the memory box and that was very cool!

So thanks to everyone for all their hints and information. It helped a lot! Happy trips to those heading out!

eeyore~
I don't blame you for your disappointment :( I try to patient and wait, but when you have taken the time to arrange a PS ahead of time! I hope this is an isolated incident. I have always had great experiences with PS...

Holding onto the magic ::MickeyMo

Hey Fred,

Real good to hear from you. Those sheets are cool. You said your wife got them at Kohl's? My DH loves flannel sheets. I have to look for them. Hopefully they will have them on their web site.

Hope life is going well for you and your family. We think of you often. :D

Good Morning All Especially to you DisneyDmbNut

I think I must be in the same boat as Fred right now. Super busy right now with life in general, but especially at work. I took six days off for my trip to WDW and I think it will take me two months to recover here at work..........it was all worth it though. :D

Everyone have a great day.

'Morning Lodgers...

Nice to "see" you Fred. Glad all is well. I'll have to look for that sheet set too!

Had to pop in and say HI. I've been travelling a lot lately, (just got back from trips to Seattle and Vegas). Seems as if everything is going well on the thread. I sure am jealous of all who are going down to see the Lodge decked out for the holidays. I hope to one day experience it for myself.

Take care everyone!

Just poppin' in to say hello. It seems I can't get on here much anymore. New job is keeping me very busy which is better than the alternative. Hope everyone is doing well and THANKS for the B-Day wishes. The whole family is starting to get excited now, we are under 30 days out from WDW at Christmas. Can't wait to see the Lodge. Might have to try and work that carriage ride in as well.
