I wish I had started these one-on-one trips sooner; it took my divorce for me to realize it's important to have the alone time with each of my girls. Good for you for getting to do that and thanks for reading!(the pin made me cry too!)

Oh my, The Unicorn Song was such a classic in my crowd during the college years! You sing it - but do you act it out also?

Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for reading, Ellen!

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Ellen - we had a lovely day yesterday. (Can't believe I have a 14 YEAR OLD!)

That's how I feel about it- DS turned 14 in June, it went sooo fast!!

When I last left off, DD and I headed back to our room @ midnight after taking a dip in the WL pool and then hot tub. The next morning was AM PMH at Magic Kingdom and I thought it would be fun to be there for rope drop. I have never done a rope drop before (we ARE NOT morning people!), but, again, thought it was one of those things we should try at least once.

Well I changed that thought when our wake-up call rang at 7am! :scared1: DD was still snoring away - didn't budge! So I made the decision that rope drop would be experienced some other time; and rolled back over to catch some more zzzzzs. We were awake by 8:45, out of the room by 9:30 and walking down Main St. by 10am - not too bad. It was still early enough and the crowds didn't look too bad yet.

Today we were wearing our matching Mom/daughters shirts - the only time DD said this shirt would be on her back would be when she's in the state of Florida. Freshy!

Since we knew MK was probably going to get extremely crowded within a few hours, we decided to focus on just two lands today - Frontierland and Adventureland. So off we went - first HM; 5 minute wait - excellent! After that we went over to BTMRR (DD didn't even look over at SplashMt. - it was official - we were done with that ride for this trip!) BTMRR only had a 10 minute wait, so we got a FP then rode standby.

Our FP return time to BTMRR was suprisingly soon - 11:15, which was now an 1/2 hour away. We decided to run over to POTC in the meantime. As we exited the ride, I was thrilled to see that the Pirate Tutorial was getting ready to start and we could get right in front. I LOVE this because, well, mainly I LOVE Johnny Depp; and I think most of these Capt. Jack characters do a spot-on impersonation of him. We saw it for the first time in 2006 and DD was lucky enough to get picked to participate - she was the one who got to have the sword fight w/ Capt.Jack! Here's a photo from that trip

She was in her glory then! But, now she's a "cool" 12 yr.old - she told me she absolutely wanted no part of being picked for this again - actually wanted to stand in the back! No way - I wanted a front row seat to see Capt.Jack; and I was keeping my fingers crossed he was one of the "hot" ones! I was not disappointed.....

I don't know about the rest of you ladies, but I find myself grinning from ear to ear after watching the tutorial! Aaaah - Captain Jack!

By now it was time to cash in our BTMRR FP; we decided to grab one for the Jungle Cruise first - the return time was for 12:30. So we figured, we'd ride BTMRR, grab some lunch, then get onto to JC. I was also trying to meet up with a fellow DIS buddy who was also in MK this day. They were celebrating her dd's birthday and we're pretty much spending most of their time in Fantasyland

After riding Big Thunder for the FOURTH time this trip already, we headed back to Main St. to eat at DD's favorite CS - Casey's! She could make a meal out of the cheese fries. Being from Jersey, I grew up with the practice of dipping your fries in cheese - or better, yet, having them with cheese and gravy - YUM! DD first tried them on the boardwalk in Pt.Pleasant and has been hooked ever since. She was thrilled to discover Casey's offered this treat.

She's a happy girl!

We finished lunch rather quickly - I was expecting Casey's to be more crowded than it was. I think everyone was out standing in lines for rides! We still had some time before our JC fastpass so we hopped into the Tiki Room. I know this attraction has alot of critics, but I still get a chuckle out of it. And, if not for nothing else, man, it's a GREAT place to cool off on a hot day. It's always freezing in there!

After the Tiki Room, it was time for the Jungle Cruise. Don't know why, but I only took pix of the elephants. They're cute though

Now, I don't know what went on while we were on this ride, but when we came off it looked like the crowds had tripled in size!!! It was now packed! I called my DIS buddy one last time on her cell and got her voicemail. DD and I were done with MK - too hot and too crowded. I was hoping against hope that I may run into my fellow DISer on the way (I knew what her family was wearing) but it we never did see each other. On our way out, we did get one more castle pic

We headed back to the resort. Since it was so hot, I asked DD if she wanted to go swimming. She just wanted to relax in the air-conditioned room instead. So.......we got back to the room; turned the AC up high; pulled the shades; took off our bras (THE best feeling when you're sweaty and tired, IMO); put on our oversized Disney t-shirts and plopped down on the bed. I took out a couple of bottles of icy-cold Aquafina waters, our lovely Goofy Candy Co. treats - you remember them:
DSC02650.jpg

and turned on our favorite show on Disney Resort tv - you know, you love her.......Stacey!

DSC02652.jpg

Again, I know some people say this girl gets on their nerves, but not us. If we're in the room, her "Top 7 Must-Sees" is on. We put it on at night before bed and set the timer, so we fall asleep listening to it. And DD can recite the script word for word! I know, it's a bit overboard but it's just one our "Disney" things we like to do!

So, that's how we spent a few hours of our afternoon - lazing about in the room. And, what's funny about it is DD will tell you it's one of her fondest memories of the trip! It's nice she can still appreciate the simple things!:cloud9:

Next up.....PM EMH at Epcot; dinner at Chefs de France; and the cute French pastry boys!

I love the matching tshirts! We had the same Jack last summer and I have some of those exact same pictures!

I'm glad you and your DD enjoyed your day of relaxing.

Great report! I am really enjoying reading about the mother/daughter trip. My DD8 and I have been on a few of those since we live so close and my husband is not a Disney fan. :confused3 Great memories!

Love the hairdo you go your daughter - what a great idea!

The ice-cream sandwiches at the bakery are on my list for next trip - the look awesome! That and goofy's candy co are two treats we definately have to try!

I'm the same way with unpacking - must be done on the first day!

Very sweet about the pin your daughter gave you. I can only hope my DD is still as sweet as she is now when she is 12!

Now I'm hungry for a taylor ham sandwich.

My DD and I love to watch Stacy also - must do whenever we are in the room.

Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip!

OK, first of all, anyone who's ever been to Hilton Head and ventured over to Harbor Town under the big oak tree definitely knows this song! Gregg Russell, the writer of the song, has been performing there for YEARS!!! So much fun!

Cammie - yup, love me some Capt Jack! I don't know how Disney does it, but in my mind, it IS Johnny Depp!!!

And I soooo know what you mean about popping off the bra first thing! Men don't know what they're missing!!! :rotfl:

Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday! We have a block party today and then tomorrow is my older DD's 14th birthday - so may not get the next installment done until after all the festivities!

Ohhh another July baby!!:lovestruc Tell her happy birthday!!:dance3:

Great TR! I agree, Jack Sparrow is. That's funny about Stacy-we have a love/hate relationship with her.:lmao: I can't wait for the next day's adventures...popcorn:: BTW, what is the food porn thread?? I may need to check this one out.....
