Like Mother, Like Daughter - I've Turned Her Into a Disney Freak!

Cammie - Love DD's hair, that was a brilliant idea, no fussing!!:thumbsup2 I just loved the pic where you commented about her huge smile, it brought a big old grin to my face.;)

These are the cutiest pics! Subscribbing!

Thanks! You wouldn't know it from her big, cheesy smile, but DD is not always willing to stop for pictures; she thinks it slows us down too much! She doesn't get the concept of capturing the moment!

Hi Cammie,

I'm here too... loving the story so far...

Tessa

Hi Tessa! Thanks for checking in! How are things across the pond?

OK, don't wait too long - I wanna hear how they "traumatized" your DD??? Did you dump her in the Briar Patch??? Tony's looks yummy - never eaten at a TS restaurant in MK for some reason. Always head to Epcot for the food!!!

Honestly, I think DD would have preferred being dumped in the Briar Patch then staying on the ride! (explanation to soon follow!)

And, I'm embarassed to admit, I never even noticed Tony's, or The Plaza, in all the years I've been going. Whenever we wanted a TS meal, we ate at LTT!

Cammie- Woo Hoo Great trip report It makes me miss Disney so much. I can't wait to try EMH for the first time.

This was the first time we had ever done PM EMH at MK - it was a HUGE success! The rest of the week's PM EMHs - not so much.

cammie it can't be over already. It seems as if I was just there. Love DD hair :)

It goes by toooo quickly. I swear, I could stay there for a month and would still be incredibly sad when it was over!

Well, like daughter - like mother.......I had just as big a smile to match on the other side of the camera!

Great TR so far, Cam! What a nice idea about DD's hair; it looks so cute too. I threw my up in a pony everyday when we were there. I think I wore it down once.

What great pics!

What great pics!

I should have put mine in a pony; as you'll see in the pictures, it just got frizzier as the week went on! It was hot!

Great start!

I LOVE her hair... it looks so cute!

The CM was trying to talk me into getting the braids also. I was too nervous - afraid I'd look like an overweight Bo Derek!

Thanks for reading!:flower3:

Love it!

You guys are so cute!!! Your DD is beautiful!

Love the pix!

We moved on to Splash Mtn. with our FP. We thought we'd swing by BTMRR again to get a FP since this was now DD's favorite ride in all of MK. Got to the ride and saw no line - so on we rode! I did much better on this ride the second time around - I now knew what to expect. It's such a fun ride!

Now it was time for Splash Mountain. It was about 20 minutes to 10; I thought we would have enough time to ride Splash then catch Wishes. I must preface this story by pointing out that we are not really into the thrill rides. Some may call us wimps; I like to consider us cautious. I wasn't always this way - back in the day, when I was young and carefree and had nothing to live for, I rode all the crazy rides at Six Flags. Since I've become a mom, I'm convinced that a rollercoaster may kill me! My DD has gotten better over the years though; she usually tries a new ride every year. Two years ago, she went on ToT and loved it! Last year, it was BTMRR. She has been riding Splash Mtn. since she was 7, yet she still gets this anxiety about it. But usually once we go down the big drop, she's had a blast and wants to do it again.

So we're now on and DD is experiencing her usual nervous anticipation. As usual, we get SOAKED even before we get up the first hill (happens EVERY SINGLE TIME!) We get to the bottom of the hill of the last big drop -- and the ride stops! Lights come on, water shuts off and announcement made to stay seated. This has happened before though - not to worry. Five minutes go by; then 10 - in the meantime that huge steep hill is right in front of us and that creepy recording of Br'er Rabbit, in his sinister voice, saying "I'll give you your happy place! HeeHeeHee" is playing over and over. This has now put DD over the edge. I'm convinced she would have jumped out of the boat if I didn't have my arms around her! She's now certain the ride is not safe and we need to be taken off. And she certainly doesn't want to be the guinea pig when they start this thing up again and have us be the first one down the hill! I'm seriously sitting there, giving her instructions on how to breathe in and out. On top of that, I can hear Wishes going off outside!:headache: Next thing I know, the water starts flowing again and up the hill we went; everything else was a blur. All I know is the poor thing was shaking like a leaf when we got off and she has sworn to never ride it again. Drama Queen! Personally, I felt it was much ado about nothing; and I preceded to bust her chops about it for the rest of the week! Anyway, here's me in all my soaked glory......
DSC02558.jpg

So to calm my poor baby's nerves, we went on one of her classic favorties - Aladdin's Magic Carpets....

DSC02559.jpg

I know, she looks no worse for the wear!

It's at this point that I'm realizing that MK is surprisingly un-crowded. Since dinner, we've had barely a wait for anything. I'm starting to think that the crowds were scared away by the rainstorm that had come in late in the day. Score for us!:woohoo:

I had promised DD a treat on Main St. so off we headed. As we came across the bridge out of Adventureland, I noticed that the 11pm Spectro was about to start and there was open curb space right at the turn in front of the castle. How could we NOT stick around?

We had already seen this parade once in DineylandParis, but that was looking over a bunch of heads. It was nice to have an unobstructed view this time.

After the parade, we headed right to the Main St. Bakery. DD and I were dying to try the homemade ice cream sandwiches. We foolishly ordered two of these bad boys.....
DSC02579.jpg

Classic case of "Eyes Bigger Than Stomach". Both of us took the top half of the sandwich and used it to scoop up as much ice cream as we could; but neither of us came close to finishing it! It was very good though!

By this time, the park had really cleared out! (sorry it's a little dark)
DSC02586.jpg

It was only midnight - two whole hours left to romp! So we decided to go back and ride BTMRR for the third time
DSC02584.jpg

Back to POTC and HM again and then Dumbo - one of my faves!
DSC02588.jpg

Chip & Dale were hanging out by the Dumbo ride so we jumped in for a picture
DSC02589.jpg

Then it was on to Mickey's Philharmagic.......

I think someone's sick of getting photographed.....
DSC02591.jpg

It was 1:30am and we were getting pretty tired. While I really did want to stay until the official closing, we were zapped of all energy. We came, we saw, we conquered. I was satisfied that we got to ride everything we wanted - and more than once. All that was left now were the obligatory nighttime shots........

We arrived at the boat dock for the WL at 1:50pm. Thankfully, we didn't have to wait too long for the boat to take us back to the resort. We were soon greeted by a very peppy boat captain who said "Good morning guests! Finally ready to go home?" Yikes - it WAS morning! But what a way to end the day!

Next up.........sleeping in (just a little!);swimming; and a gift from DD that warms my heart!

Great trip report. I am a single mom of 2, DD15 and DS6. My daughter and I used to do just the two of us Disney trips until DS came along. Now she still wants to do just the 2 of us but I can't since I have him spoiled with Disney too. I love your pictures and your daughter is adorable. I hope to be able to stay at Wilderness Lodge one day. Can't wait to hear more.

Ok- I was completely feeling your nerves when you were describing being stuck on SM- OMG!!!!:scared1: My anxiety level would have been right up there with your DD's! There are only 2 rides at WDW I've been chicken to go on- SM and ToT- but I promised the boys I'd do SM when we go to MNSSHP on Halloween, since we won't have DS14 with us and it's our only chance to ride it together (DS14 won't go on, either). I am SOOOO going to be thinking about your experience when I hit that last hill!!!!::scared:

Please tell DD good job on picking BTMR as the best ride in MK- it's my favorite, too! You went to DL Paris? I'd LOVE to hear about that sometime...

Looking forward to more!popcorn::
Ellen
ps-Great castle pics!:thumbsup2

Oh Cam I felt so badly for your DD, poor thing sounded terrified. She looks to have re-bounded though and you both did a great job utilizing the EMH's!!:goodvibes

Oh Cammie your poor baby she sounds just like Dsis. I would be calm as anything and she would be ranting away :lmao: I think I would be teasing all week too. Now if it was ToT I would be the one freaking out.

Cammie - I totally understand what your DD was feeling! I'm the same way. What's wrong? Why did it stop? It must be broken? What's gonna happen? It's the Double P - Paranoia and Panic!!!!

Hi Cammie,

great report so far - always scares me when the rides stop too... we were going backwards and halfway down the hill in the haunted mansion looking at the bats eyes glowing in the pitch black when apparently they stopped the ride for an extra 3 mins (seemed MUCH longer :goodvibes) to switch out a carriage someone had been ill in ------ it was spooky!!

love the trippie - esp all the pics!

Thanks for reading! I had a little guilt about not having my older DD with us; but younger DD really enjoys one-on-one time with me. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we all could live close enough to WDW so we could go whenever we want, with whoever we want? Sigh. The WL is beautiful - certainly a different experience staying there!

Thank god the ride started up when it did; I seriously didn't know how I was going to handle her if we had sat there any longer! It is a fun ride though - you'll love it!

DD's best friend (since preschool) and family relocated to London for the Dad's job. I had also become very good friends with the mom so they invited us for a visit last summer. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would get over to Europe. We went for 12 days; stayed at our friends for 8 and went to Paris for 4. LOVED Paris! Bread, cheese, and wine - three of my favorite things in life! DLP was quaint - very different from WDW. Glad we got to do it!

Oh Cam I felt so badly for your DD, poor thing sounded terrified. She looks to have re-bounded though and you both did a great job utilizing the EMH's!!:goodvibes

The ice cream sandwich helped her bounce back! And the EMH really worked for us this night - I never dreamed we would get on so many rides in one night!

You see, this would never happen to me on ToT because I would never BE on ToT! No way, no how am I EVER getting on that!

I have no idea why we were stopped for so long. When I saw the water off, I was sure they were going to come and escort us off the ride. Never happened. The funny thing is that I could just lean over and TOUCH the walkway to safety - DD was just praying for them to come. But the ride started up again, and everything seemed fine!

Tessa

Now that would have freaked me out! I've always felt that when we tip backwards that we really are tipped back a little too far - like if I push back just a little, it would flip the whole thing over. I would have sat there, perfectly still - too afraid to move!

Thanks for reading everybody! I should be able to post a new installment tonite!:goodvibes

I'm subbing for this one! I'll have to remember that hair trick. I'll start saving my pennies now! How long did it take?

Hi Cammie !!! I'm here :wave2:, late as usual...:rolleyes1, but I'm in!!!

Lovin' the TR so far...

Just got back from a mom / daughter trip and it was a lot of fun! Even though I'm old (25) it's still fun to go there and be a kid!!

Thanks for checking in; the hair braiding took 20 minutes - tops! DD's hair is shoulder length; so I imagine if you had longer hair, it would take a little longer. But the CM just whipped through it! And it's still holding strong today - was done on June 22nd!

Thanks, Keahi! And I say, better late than never!

Oh - to be 25 again!:cloud9: I certainly don't consider that old; but, you're right, no matter what the age - you're never too old for Disney!::MickeyMo
