Like Mother, Like Daughter - I've Turned Her Into a Disney Freak!

I like the looks of that pop rocks martini- maybe all the jersey girls and Nola girl should meet there for one in November!

Ellen - Great idea, let's set a time to meet at Fulton's. I should be able to get there by 2:00 on 11/8, what's good for y'all??

I'm in for a Pop Rock tini! I should really be starving myself for this trip since I am a fat pig but I just discovered that the local deli has the best fries and I sit here eating the remainder of Andrew's lunch...yes, after I already at mine!

NJ Girls...they have the best Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheese too! We gotta get Kat some of that!

You'll have to enjoy those PopRocks martinis w/out me on the 8th; no way I'd be able to make it over to DTD on our arrival day (darn kids! )

But I'm still up for a meet around the BW area later in the day!

.......We will be staying at All Star Music resort.

I hope you have a great trip, Sue! One word of advice - try to get to the parks when they open. You'll get more done in those morning hours than any other time of the day!

love your report!!

If your DD is anything like mine while the high school years are rocky from time to time she is still the sweetest kid. :lovestruc :lovestruc

A friend gifted us one night in a one bedroom WL villa last summer and I was a little disappointed with the slide but all of Wilderness Lodge is just so beautiful and quiet.

After walking around Pleasure Island for a little while, it was time to head over to Raglan Road for our 7:30 ADRs.......

DSC02617.jpg

I was very excited to try this place. I'm a born & raised Jersey girl and we LOVE our Irish pubs. As a matter of fact, back in the day, I was known for getting up on stage with the folk singer and acting out the words to the Unicorn Song. C'mon, you know it - "there were green alligators, and long-necked geese, some humpty-back camels, and some chimpanzees....." Aah - good times! While there was going to be no jumping on stage tonite, I was still happy to be here
DSC02623.jpg

I've read some complaints from other posters about the closeness of the tables here, but I didn't think it was bad at all. We were seated in the main room - but against a wall. It wasn't too crowded yet, so maybe that's why I didn't feel like we were packed in. Our server's name was Devon and she was a delight - very personable and very helpful. She helped me put together a custom beer flight that I would enjoy
DSC02620.jpg

I had wanted to make a meal out of two appetizers: the Dalkey Duo and the Drunken Chicken; but the Drunken Chicken is now gone! When I asked Devon about it, she explained they had a new chef and they've replaced alot of items - so the one posted on the Dis is not accurate anymore. Anyway, I decided to ditch the Duo and just order a main course. DD got her usual -- chicken fingers, served this time with mashed potatoes...

DD loves her mashies!
DSC02622.jpg

I ordered a chicken breast dish - pan seared in a port win jus and served w/veggies and mashed potatoes, with a mushroom/spinach cream sauce on the side.....
DSC02619.jpg

OMG - this was soooooo good! I left nothing but bone, baby!
DSC02621.jpg

(oh - and a carrot!)

For dessert, I was determined to try this bread pudding that I have heard so much about. It did not disappoint - delicious!

DSC02626.jpg

Man, it makes my mouth water just looking at it. Now, I've never had bread pudding before so I have nothing to compare it to; but this has got to be one of my favorite desserts in Disney!

DD had a cute dessert: the Triple Chocolate Surprise (l-r) vanilla mousse, choc. milkshake, choc. mousse.....
DSC02624.jpg

We finished stuffing ourselves right around the time the band came on. We stayed for a few songs and even got to see the Irish dancer but DD was getting bored, so we were out of there. Overall, I loved Raglan Road and it will now be competing with Fulton's for our DTD dining choice!

No trip to DTD would be complete without visiting Goofy's Candy Co. - of course, we couldn't possible fit another morsel in our stomachs but we were just going to stock up for the week.

So many choices......

We finally settled on our faves - the make-your-own treats.
DSC02631.jpg

We both got the marshmallows. Mine were dipped in dark choc., rolled in sprinkles and nuts and drizzled w/ white choc.; DD got the same except hers were rolled in M&Ms, sprinkles, choc.chips and drizzled w/white choc.

The finished products.....

I swear, we did not eat one bit of these until the next day. We were thoroughly stuffed! By the time we were done in Goofy's, it was 10:30 so we decided to head to the bus stop. We returned to the WL by 11 and, on our walk back to the villas, we noticed alot of people swimming. DD turned to me with that look in her eye. "Mom, we've NEVER gone night-swimming at Disney before. Can we?" Good grief - the last thing I wanted to do was put on a bathing suit right now! But how could I say no? It was a beautiful night and this trip was all about doing what we don't usually get to do. Sooooo, I squeezed my stuffed, bloated body into a bathing suit (thank goodness it was dark out!) Of course, only a 12 yr.old could eat all that food and still look good in a bikini! Not fair!

The pool was open until midnight; so, that meant we stayed in until midnight. We jumped into the hot tub for a quick dip to make the walk back to the room a little more bearable - it had gotten chilly! After a quick rinse in the shower, we were tucked into bed by 12:30 a.m. I set a wake-up call for 7 a.m - it was AM EMH at Magic Kingdom the next day and I had thought it would be nice to be there for rope drop - another thing we've never done before!

Next installment.......Rope drop or snooze button? And our first night at Epcot - our favorite park!

Well, that's a relief to hear. I keep telling people - I really can't see her turning on me in HS; but everyone says - just wait!

The WL was lovely; and DD recovered from the lack of a sufficient pool slide! I'm actually glad - it gave us a chance to play together more in the pool.

Thanks for reading!

We're not doing anything without you!!!! Maybe after I find out for sure when the PFTS starts we can meet up at ESPN Club????

Ooh - don't let me get in the way of you guys meeting earlier though. I really feel like I may be somewhat unreliable because of what I'll need to get done for DD. I know the 8th is Ellen's last day so try to do what you can. I'll definitely be in the BW/Epcot area most of the day; our ADRs for dinner in Mexico are at 7:15; so regardless of what happens during the day, we'll be heading back into Epcot @6pm. The ESPN Club sounds good to me too!

Hey Cam! Love the report on Raglan Road, since that's where DH and I are starting out in September!!! :thumbsup2 I'm also quite interested in the beer flight!!! Do you remember which ones you had? Jeff will like that too!

Of course, I remember! Because, like a good DISer, I wrote it down! The beers were (from right-left: Harps, Smithwicks, Grolsch, Stella Artois.

They had two flights listed on the menu; but I didn't like some of the beers in either one; so Devon just had me tell her what beers I liked, and they would make me up my own custom flight! And, trust me, there were ALOT of beers to choose from!

You're going to LOVE Raglan Road, Kara! And with it being just you and Jeff, you'll be able to hang out longer and enjoy the entertainment. I wish I could have done that. (maybe we'll put that on our list if we ever manage to do our "girls" only trip one day!)

I may end up missing PFTS, let's see Lauren is going to be waiting with drink in hand when I get there:drinking1 , meeting Ellen at Fulton's:drinking1 , meeting you at ESPN:drinking1 ............

Yeah! Raglan is my all time favorite Disney restaurant! Glad you liked it! Oh and, I know that song!!! I actually posted a You tube of it on the Whats for Dinner thread a while back! I make a great Shepherds Pie and its from the Irish Rover Unicorn Pub...OK, babble over!

Yes, my dear Kat, I will have a drink ready! :thumbsup2 Come over to my pad at SSR and have a Redneck Sangria!

And, I'd like to try that vodka and Fresca concoction you got going on!

Lauren - I actually thought of that post & recipe when I read what Cammie said and I can now picture the two of you singing......you can have that Redneck Sangria ready for me!!!!:cool1:

Cool! What time were you there? Our ADRs were for 7:15. We were in and out of there w/in 50 minutes. Did you stay for EMH?

Our ADR was for 6:50! So we had to have been eating the same time! Actually, we didn't stay for EMH because it was our last night and we had to get up early the next morning!

Sure ladies, I'll have the Whiskey Tango (white trash) bar open for ya! :rotfl:

I loved me some karaoke in the day. There was a time I'd be singing 3 - 4 nights a week! Ah, those were the days!

Can't believe we were in the same restaurant, at the same time! Did you have any LGMHs on? I was on the hunt for any fellow DISers and didn't meet one! I bet we're surrounded by DISers everywhere and we just don't know it!

Ok - that's hysterical!:lmao:

And, it's too bad we had to grow up and become responsible adults, isn't it?

Geez, I missed everything! What was I DOING playing with those kids? And cooking for all the parties this weekend? PRIORITIES!!:rotfl:

My last day is Nov 9th, and my plane is late. We'll have a rent-a-car, so no ME 3 hrs before the flight:banana: - so if the 9th is better for DTD, that works for me! Had my last meal at Fulton's this last trip, I wouldn't mind doing THAT again:thumbsup2 ! But, I think ESPN sounds GREAT on Saturday- do you think we could make 5 or 5:30 work?

The Unicorn Song... everytime I hear it, I feel like I'm at the Surf City Hotel on LBI...Paul Presto & Jackie V had the BEST singalong EVER there, and I ALWAYS got picked to do that song in that HUGE bar. Not that I can actually DO that song all that well when it speeds up...what a disaster!!!:scared1: Maybe we can practice in November!:rotfl:

LOVE Smithwicks...had it in Scotland the first time with my girlfriends and every time I see it, have to have me some Smithwicks!:thumbsup2 Just had it on Sunday night when I saw Stevie Nicks...GREAT stuff!!!

Also want to say, Cammie, you win Mom of the year for gettin the suit on after Raglan's! They have some BIG FOOD there! When did the new chef start? I'm guessing it must have been sometime between our trips, right?

Ellen:hippie:

Joe Finn was our man down the Jersey shore - Avon, to be more specific!

And, I got the bathing suit ON, didn't say it looked all that great. But at 11pm at night, I wasn't looking to impress anybody anyway! Re: Raglan Road. Our CM said the new chef just came on board, so it had to be sometime in mid-June.
