Hi! I am in the final stages of planning our first trip to Disney. We will be there starting January 4th, and I secured our Be our Guest lunch fastpasses today. I noticed when selecting our food choices, the Ariel and Pirate light-up cups were options under the dining plan, and as such, my husband and I will be getting those since they are not options for the kid's meal.

My question is this...which is the one to go after? I have a daughter and a son and noticed that the Ariel cup is listed in lots of other menus, too, but didn't see the Pirate one listed elsewhere. We have lunch or dinner reservations at Akershus and Prime Time. All of our other reservations are breakfast (Ohana, Hollywood and Vine, Crystal Palace, and the Tomorrowland Fireworks Party in the evening.)

Also, are the light-up cups part of the dining plan at other restaurants, too, or is this my only time to get it "free"? Thanks, in advance, for any advice!

I'm very surprised that you can get the light-up clip souvenir cup when on the DDP. In every other instance that I've read and experienced, light-up clips and other souvenir cups are not included in the dining plan. Are you sure it's included? Is it possible that the system will allow you to select it, but you'll have to pay OOP for it (guests on the DDP are allowed to purchase items that are not included in the plan and are then charged separately for those items).

This is what it does.

You can select things that aren't on the DDP, but you'll be charged OOP for them. The light up cups are not included on the DDP.

I'm thoroughly confused. I logged back in to look at it, and it's just what I thought....the light up cups are labeled "dine plan eligible," along with milk, 22 oz sodas, etc. Some drinks are not labeled this--for instance, the "souvenir castle goblet." But both the Ariel and Pirate cups are labeled eligible, and when added, they do not increase my total to the right hand side of the page, as adding other ineligible things does (a bowl of soup, for instance.) ???

Oh, and what I meant by the bowl of soup being ineligible, that's if it's added as an appetizer. It's fine if selected as an entree.

I really don't know what to say...if the system is allowing you to select them, then it's either a glitch or a change in policy. As both aaarcher86 and I said, light-up/souvenir drinks have not been DDP eligible in the past. I suppose, there is no harm in adding them and then see what happens when you get there and have to pay. I would think that you could modify the order at that point if you find out they are not DDP eligible (which is what I expect will happen).

Souvenir cups and light up novelties are NOT DDP eligible anywhere. Just so you know to be prepared if you end up being asked to pay separately for those.

Guess I should do a screenshot to take with me just in case. Wish I could do a screenshot to show you guys. I'm new at this, but I know I'm not crazy. :)

Dont' think you are crazy, it's the Disney website that is crazy, and it is wrong constantly. just be prepared to either demand them because the computer indicated you could get them, or to pay for them.

I don't think you're crazy...most of us that hang out on the Disboards know that the Disney website can be glitchy.

Thanks, guys. Sometimes I think I AM going crazy with all this planning involved in this trip. And, in my house, it all lands on mama. :)

the light up cups aren't included on the DP however you do get them cheaper because the cost of the beverage is deducted.

Interesting...is this something new? In the past, we've always been told that the light-up/souvenir cups were not included with DDP and that you'd have to pay OOP for them if you wanted them. Also in the case of the clip-on lights, how much is deducted? They're associated with a child's drink and not an adult's drink.

no, it's not new. I was talking about the kids cups Ariel, LMQ, Buzz and Tink. Some places have adult cups such as the Meteor at Sci Fi. The cups are $4.99 on the DP

so you can get them on DDP if you pay 5 bucks for the cup. Same thing at counter service?

Just for clarification...do you mean all of the souvenir beverages you listed (the Ariel, Buzz, McQueen, and Tink light-up clip-ons on the kid's drink and the sipper cup with glow cube at Sci Fi) are $4.99 when on the adult DDP? Or just the light-up clip-on kid's drink? Does it matter if the guest is using a TS or CS credit? (BOG is a CS location at lunch, which is the mealtime the OP was asking about.)

I only know the info for TS, not sure about QS. There is a button on the POS for TS but I haven't seen the POS for QS so not sure if it's the same or not

Hi, I was the original poster. To clarify, for lunch at BOG, it lists the "Ariel and Pirate light cups" for $6.99 each and has them each clearly marked "dine plan eligible." It does not add to the cost of my meal on the right hand side of the page when these drinks are selected. The other beverages marked "Dine plan eligible" are: Adult cold fountain beverage 2.99, adult hot beverage 2.39, low-fat milk 1.79, chocolate milk 2.59, dasani 2.50, apple juice 2.69, orange juice 3.79, perrier 3.25, and (oddly enough) mickey straw 0.59.

It also lists "souvenir castle goblet" for 16.99 but does NOT mark it as dine plan eligible.

All of these choices are under the adult section of beverages only. It did not give me the option for the special cups under the kids' meal portion.

????

Probably a glitch with the website. Be prepared to pay for the cups or send them back. A printout won't help you there.
