Hi everyone,

I had a co-worker mention today that when she was younger she had a "lifetime pass" to Disney. She said it is "long lost now", but it got me wondering. If she did still have it, would she have been able to use it still? I had never heard of this until today.

Just curious. :rotfl:

I heard they were sold when disney world first opened. Don't know if that is true or not, but I sure wish I had one.

Man I would love to be that kid!!

And if I were my co-worker I would have never lost that ticket! :goodvibes

That's pretty amazing...now when and where do I have to be to be the 3 billionth? :rotfl:

I have a co=worker that said they bought lifetime passes about 20 years ago that Disney offered...could this be what she is talking about?

Probably, she is around 28..ish so that sounds about right.

I have been going regularly to WDW for quite a bit more than 20 years. There has never been such a pass.

However, when Disney opens a brand new park, or for something special, such as the 100 millionth guest, they may give all members of that family who are present a lifetime pass.

But they have never sold any.

Maybe she's confused... and thinking of the multiday passes that didn't have an expiration date to it.

It's easy to replace an annual pass, because Disney keeps detailed records of them. So if she really had a "lifetime" pass and lost it, it would seem highly likely that she would just need to present proof of her identity to replace it.

And the fact that she hasn't ever done so is pretty convincing evidence that her tale isn't true.

maybe its like a charter member being a lifetime ticket holder?

My grandparents told me that when WDW first opened, that year they were selling "lifetime" passes for a specific price. They were supposed to be good forever. They didn't buy one, but their friends did, and somehow Disney put an end to those "lifetime" passes, bc they were no longer good... haha. I know this is true because i am pretty close to my grandparents friends, i see them alot. And i don't think they would have any reason to make it up.

We were in Orlando when the Apopka kids did really well in the Little League World Series. it was a huge deal. Anyway, Universal Studios gave all of the kids on the team lifetime passes. I imagine Disney has done this at some time. However, I can say, that after 911, Bush Gardens and SeaWorld and Universal had great free passes for policemand and fireman, and Disney did nothing.

Hm.. My sister was an ER nurse (still is) in NY right at ground zero. She worked for several days straight, taking quick breaks to sleep on a stretcher. Sure wish Busch Gardens, Sea World, and Universal had done something for them!

I thought I remembered hearing something like this being sold when Epcot first opened, I don't remember if it was lifetime pass to Epcot or Epcot and MK.

I have heard on occasion from several different sources that years ago, likely around the time Disney opened, they DID offer a Lifetime pass for sale. However, the cost of such a pass was ENORMOUS - $1000 to $1500 in 1970s dollars. Probably very few were actually sold.

And they have given out Lifetime passes to people who were the X-billionth guest, etc.

This is probably one of those things that were based on fact, passed into legend, and then deteriorated into myth...

I've heard of that, remember a thread about it here a few years ago, but I don't remember any details. My mom and I had Annual Passes the first year that they were offered. Your picture was actually on the pass. I can't remember what year it was, I think I was around 10 - the early 80's. I know it was just CR, FW, Poly and the Magic Kingdom still so pre 1982. I have no idea what happened to it - wish I still had it as a souvenier.

When WDW first opened, a per ride ticket system was used for entrance to rides (plus a GA charge as well). Ticket packs with various A, B, C, D, and E were sold and the attractions/rides were rated accordingly (hence the notion of an E-ticket ride like Space Mountain). The advent of daily or annual passes didn't come to pass until the 80s when Epcot opened.
