Life’s too short...to never sleep in a treehouse! 8/27 TR is up! Link in siggie

Hi Cynthia!

First I want to wish you good luck with your new venture! :shamrock:

Next, I wanted to share with you that we're thinking of the Treehouse Villas for our trip in December '11! I'm hopeful that we will get one at the eleven-month window (we own at SSR.)

Here is a thread on the DVC Mousellaneous Board that you might like to read. The OP's family spent part of their trip at the THVs.

ANOTHER THREAD?????:scared1: I just got through Jordan, Winkers and then Cynthia's. Took me all weekend to catch up thought I would now have time to post, but seeing as though I am down to 13 days, I guess I'm going back to read :confused3 Actually I am very exited. Seeing as though we are staying at THV.....I would love to check them out and see what to expect. THANK YOU. :flower3:

Cynthia-good luck with your new venture. I think it will be a great hit!! What a wonderful birthday or new baby present. How great would it be for a busy new mom to get pre-made, personalized scrap book pages that all she has to do is add pictures to it. I know I would have totally loved that  I am always looking for unique and memorable gifts to buy. I would be all over that! And dont worry about those THV, you will get there. :wizard: We purchased DVC after staying at the value resorts 8 years in a row. The fuzzy disney math FINALLY got to us, but only because we paid without financing. We couldn't make it work the other way. Especially now with all the offers they are giving everyone. We dont get any of those. It seems unfair at times, but we have stayed at all the villas, except BCV and BLT, and our experiences have been beyond our wildest dreams! So next year is BCV and then the following year BLT. We always need something to strive for. :thumbsup2

See you all in the am...:surfweb:think I'll be reading all night.:lmao:

Hi Alison! I am behind on your TR, I read the last update (but missed a couple I think, darn holidays!) but I don't think I actually posted! Your Dylan is just the cutest thing ever.

It is a miracle, what my FIL has been through and we just seem to be surrounded by miracles lately. Hope is so very important, as is faith. Your young family member will be in our prayers.

That's so funny, I was trying to remember who was the volleyball person and couldn't! It seems to be a little bit less intense than soccer so far but we will see. The juggling is ridiculous though and I just worry she is spread too thin which really isn't good for anyone. That said if it ends up that she loves VB more, I'm all for it. Jeff and I both feel she just doesn't have the passion for soccer you need to take it further at the level she is at. Skill only takes you so far, you need to play from the heart and it's just not consistently there. Of course the hormones and distractions of being 13 only take you so far. So we will see.

I LOVE the game. I enjoy soccer but LOVE VB. And I would have killed to have her serve at that age.

:welcome: very happy to have you here!

Belive me, I know all about 13 year olds! Todd coaches the freshman girls during the high school season, and the 18 year olds for club. Quite a wide range of emotional states between those 2 groups. The freshman are all usually very young and sweet, then they get boy crazy very quickly. It would be kinda funny if there wasn't so much effort spent on the drama!

Thank you for your prayers for my cousin. He has a form of ALS or Lou Gehrig's (sp?) disease that they have not quite been able to diagnose. It has been going on for years and he has a wonderfully positive attitude about it. It is just hard to see someone so young (who has young children) going through something like that. Some days it is very overwhelming and it just happens that I got an update on him right before I read your post about your FIL. It really encouraged me and I appreciate that. :goodvibes

Congratulations on your new venture! Sounds like you have a great idea for your business. :thumbsup2
Thanks Amy! LOTS of work to do but I am excited about it :goodvibes

Hi!!:wave2:I feel I've fallen behind again.:sad2:

But, I have to tell you again how much I love the puzzle and activity pages!! Your reveal plans sound like so much fun! The boys are going to love it! You have inspired me to try some for our upcoming trip!! :goodvibes

Congratulations on the exciting news!!! What a wonderful idea and how exciting that you get do something that you really enjoy doing! I love to scrapbook although I don't do it half as much as I would like. I really need to start getting into more.... Anyways, I'm sure you will be a huge success!! You are so talented!!:)

Oh and guess what....I've finally added that ticker!! and.....we are going back much sooner than expected!! We're so excited!! I just had to share the news!!:goodvibes

Whoo hooo! MUCH sooner! I made it over to your new PTR but got locked out of the boads for a bit last night and was literally, doing computer maintenance junk, for 3 days! Anyhoo...YAY for a spring trippie! Are you surprising the boys or just thinking of a fun activity book for the plane?

You probably wouldn't, really. ;)
I finally asked Jeff if he'd seen it and as suspected he's seen parts of it, thanks to Sandie!

:rotfl::rotfl:

Okay, I've been catching up a little at a time. Christine!!! I'm so excited for you!:cool1: I wouldn't call if a mid-life crisis, although I think it's at mid-life that we start to say, "is that all there is?" Things that were once so important take a back seat to what's really important in our lives.

I started working for myself 6 years ago, and left my job 2 1/2 year ago. We have had some lean times because I spent more time caring for our grandchildren than working for a couple of years, but what a blessing to be able to choose and to have that precious time with them! :cloud9:

I wish you all the best, and I want to congratulate you! You have the courage and the drive, and I know you will be a success!!!

Thanks Tammie! It's worth a shot if nothing else, I've gotten some really good feedback from a local scrapbook store and a local scrapbook company so that's very encouraging!

I think that's the same TR that Glenn sent me, SO jealous! I think THV will be lovely, so much space, I just adore them (even though I've never seen them "live"!). I am hoping to stay in them for Peepfest/Evan's 13th but you will beat me there!

I will be anxiously watching to see if you get it, I bet you will. Interestingly enough they've definitely released more for my dates with CRO, it is available the last time I checked. I kept trying to see if it make more sense for our Universal days but it really doesn't save us anything and the advantages we lose just didn't make it pencil.

I sent over the powerpoint, let me know if it works :)

We would only do DVC if we could pay cash too so no incentives for us. As nice as those incentives are, they are not as good as all the money you save on interest and lower point prices!

Oh ALS...that just breaks my heart. Positive attitudes, faith and willingness to explore everything really can make a huge difference. I will absolutely keep him in my prayers.

Oh I can imagine the drama Todd deals with, all the soccer coaches complain about it (the drama and hormones) and I can only imagine it's going to get worse...we've seen it with friends teams. Kendall's soccer coach this year is rather fed up with them and I can't say I blame him. Of course he's fed up with a lot of the parents too

Last week at her Jr high game there was so much non-game chatter during the game that I was annoyed! It's like ok...you all look cute, your shorts are short, focus on the GAME!
:rotfl:

It will be interesting to see how the rest of this year goes juggling 2 club sports...:scared1:

Nice to meet you!! I was reading through the last posts I had missed, and this really caught my eye. My aunt recently diagnosed with ALS as well, and it has been a slow, but very steady decline. It is a heartbreaking thing to watch a vibrant, beautiful woman suffer with speech, mobility and everything else that goes along with this horrible disease! But like your cousing, my aunt has a very positive attitude and seems to keep on keepin on better than I think I would be able to. It took a very long time for her to get a proper diag. too. Anyway, prayers for him!!

Morning everyone!

I'm going to try to get some pics up later today of the papers (and the dress for those who asked lol) as well as the new park bag!

I had a very busy weekend doing some computer maintenance. The goal had been to improve performance on mine as my new venture is a bit of a memory hog. Jackie had a scary virus story that prompted me to take it to another level of scrubbing and somehow in the mayhem of removing things I didn't need, running malware, driver updates and the like, my main design programs all decided they didn't work anymore (license expired).

I am not entirely sure what happened. We have a new version of the program at work which installing remotely just doesn't work. I had tried to once before, it wouldn't install and so I deleted the files yesterday as it was a big drain on memory having them on. Then the previous version wouldn't work! And they no longer show up as programs, even though the files are still on the hard drive :scared1: As getting the disks from the guys will be a total pita and take a couple of weeks knowing them I went ahead and ordered a trial CD set which, once I install I "should" be able to activate with the license key I have.

At least that's what Adobe says! And then I'll have my own installation disks should there be problems later. Of course I decided to go that route after I spent the whole day re-transferring the files from our server, trying to install and finding it wouldn't work and then downloading the main program in a trial version to get me through this week. Fingers crossed that it all works, the expense of purchasing the programs is NOT factored into my business plan. If I have to, I have to but....UGH!

In theory this could be fabulous, the new version is vastly improved not to mention the gang bought the cadillac of bundles and while I don't "need" all of it, having access to it would be pretty sweet. We will see.

I'll stop babbling now as Jordan and Liesa's eyes will glaze over if they haven't already!

I did want to thank Cherie for some great laughs last night. We had DVR'd the SAG awards and everytime we saw Q, we burst out laughing saying "Chuckie!"

Morning everyone!

Okay, right about here, you sucked me in deep!

I had a very busy weekend doing some computer maintenance. The goal had been to improve performance on mine as my new venture is a bit of a memory hog. Still with you right around here.... Jackie had a scary virus story that prompted me to take it to another level of scrubbing and somehow in the mayhem of removing things I didn't need, running malware, driver updates and the like, my main design programs all decided they didn't work anymore (license expired).

Shut down is starting to take on full tilt right about here.

I am not entirely sure what happened. We have a new version of the program at work which installing remotely just doesn't work. I had tried to once before, it wouldn't install and so I deleted the files yesterday as it was a big drain on memory having them on. Total shut down happened, I think by now, as I'm only scanning. :confused3 Then the previous version wouldn't work! And they no longer show up as programs, even though the files are still on the hard drive :scared1: As getting the disks from the guys will be a total pita and take a couple of weeks knowing them I went ahead and ordered a trial CD set which, once I install I "should" be able to activate with the license key I have.

Still scanning, but starting to glaze.

Completely glazed, as now I"m not scanning, but rather skipping.

In theory this could be fabulous, the new version is vastly improved not to mention the gang bought the cadillac of bundles and while I don't "need" all of it, having access to it would be pretty sweet. We will see.

Total shut down, until I see this:

Yes yes you did :)

At that point I had thought of selling other stuff but not necessarily digital scrapbook paper and it has taken me a few months to figure out what I'd want to sell, in what formats and what might make it unique and marketable. I have a long ways to go though but you definitely contributed to pointing me in the right direction, along with a few others!

Oh my goodness summer and break care is a financial killer! If I can just avoid dealing with that again...it would be a huge blessing. Summers in particular were always incredibly stressful, it was like planning a trip itinerary but 3 months worth. The logistics were a nightmare and that's being kind.

Don't give me any credit!

When I saw the paper you did for your sister it occured to me that it was something I'd buy for paper or digital scrapbooking! When you get everything set and running you have to let me know! I'll be your first customer!

I can't imagine having to plan out a summer like that! I have a lot of friends who have a terrible time with getting everything set for the summers! It can't be fun and it surely has to be stressful!!!

I hope everything gets squared away with your computer! I hope you don't have to buy new software! YIKES! If your using Illustrator or something like that I know it expensive!!!

BTW, I hope your sinuses are better!!! I know you said you were going to go to the doctor! Mine, I think, have finally started to clear out! I bit the bullet and bought a neti pot to rinse my sinuses. Once you get over the gross factor it really works!

:) Oh you get credit! As do a number of folks. Apparently my mom has been shopping the paper around without me knowing it! :rotfl:

I am using Illustrator but also use Photoshop and InDesign, I have the full Creative Suite Bundle and cannot afford to buy it if I don't have to! The company upgraded to a much larger bundle but the fact that I hadn't upgraded my version shouldn't impact my license.

For whatever reason, downloading the newest version of illustrator in the trial version seems to be letting me back into the previous version without any issues so clearly somehow a file got removed or corrupted but seems to be working. I tried to open it today for kicks and voila, no issues!

Thank heavens! Esp since the trial versions have limited functionality. But at least I have a back up plan if this happens again.

Somehow I think when I deleted the newer version files, it lost some info.

I've had a very productive morning, got the logo done (whoo hoo!) so I can actually make business cards and build the website, the business license app in and the email actually working. I'd set it up a while ago (registered a domain name) but had never bothered to get the email forwarding. As soon as the license arrives (about 2 weeks) I can get the business account set up and then get everything else rolling. But I really needed to get those things done asap to keep expenses where they should be!

Now I can focus on building the inventory of offerings that those things are done. The fun part.

I feel better today, not 100% though so we will see what my doc says. It's just an annual, I wasn't going in for the sinuses but it's good timing!

Neti pots definitely work, if it was just drainage I'd be all over it but this is definitely in the sinuses, it hurts to wear my glasses!

My DD ran in the door to check her email right away. She was so excited to see it there. It opened beatuifully and It came out great!! :worship:
She is working on it right now. Wish she would be this excited over doing her homework!

THANKS AGAIN! :thumbsup2

I'm not sure how I feel about you thinking about me when you see Q...

LOL comment on the short shorts. Isn't that the truth! :rotfl: Thank you for your prayers, and I will be praying for you to survive your 2 club sports seasons!

Now onto new things...I finally caught up on your full TR and I am thrilled for you about your new business decision. I think that there is a lot of need in that category. For instance, 2 years ago my sister got married and her theme was Arts & Crafts style (as in, the Grand Californian hotel was her inspiration). She could not find anything close to what she wanted for her invitations, save the dates, etc. She eventually hired an artist to do what she needed (she knew the person from her work) and she put all the pieces together herself. It was quite a process and she was so frustrated. Now she is scrapbooking her wedding and is finding the same problem with the products that are out there. Little to no Arts & Crafts themed stuff.

Here is my other thought. Have you heard of Etsy.com? I have not spent much time on that site, but basically it is a place where people can sell their custom/handmade stuff. A lot of my friends sell on there (& shop on there) because they are having babies, etc. It is becoming a big trend to find custom made stuff there. I believe they have a wedding section and I know they have a lot of baby stuff. You might be able to display your stuff on there and direct them to your website. Just a thought!

Hi there! Thank you so much for your prayers. I will be praying for your aunt as well. We are still learning so much about ALS, and he has had it for many years (he is 34 now). It has been extremely slow moving, which I think is part of the reason why the doctors don't feel that they are acurately pinpointing what is going on. He is such a great person with a beautiful family and as I said before, his attitude is amazing...so much better than I could ever hope to be. He had a major set back last week and that was surprising, considering how slow it has been to this point. It is his legs & arms that are most affected. It makes all of us feel so helpless, as there is nothing that we can do for him physically. It is awful. All we can do is pray, so that is what we are doing. :goodvibes

Congrats on starting your own business. And it'll allow you to have a flexible schedule so you can still spend lots of time with your children.

And will there be photos of the park bag?

I have heard of Etsy, I have a good friend who sells her jewelry on there. I need to see how well it will translates for this type of product/service but do plan to look at it once the site is up. I would be happy to have your sister contact me if you think she would be interested in having some paper created, if you do, just PM me and I will send you my business email. The site isn't up and running quite yet but is getting close!

That is so so hard, my cousin has a degenerative disease that is really scary, I know too well the feeling of helplessness. You are all in my thoughts.

Congrats on starting your own business. And it'll allow you to have a flexible schedule so you can still spend lots of time with your children.

And will there be photos of the park bag?

There will be photo's of the park bag! Sorry I was MIA yesterday, ended up doing a fair amount of web site build for myself and am building one for someone else this week plus a custom shirt logo so it's a little nutty!.

In a good way.

VERY fun!

And I did see the doc, have an RX for the sinus but am going to hold off a day or two as it seems to be on the mend, got both flu shots and survived a pack meeting.

WHEW!

:rotfl:

I can't believe it's only Tuesday!

:rotfl:

I think all the the computer work over the weekend left it feeling less like a weekend than uusual, I'm trying to get my arms around the fact that it's only Tuesday!

We did see Avatar on Saturday so it wasn't all work!

Sorry I was MIA yesterday, my day kind of exploded but it's all good. Got a ton done on the new business front so that's very exciting!

Without further ado, as promised, here are some pictures!

The new park bag for DCA.

I love Tink but want to save her for WDW and while I'm sure I have something that will work, I thought it would be fun to test drive this.

Yes. It's true. I bought a Vera.

:rotfl:

I guess I can officially be a DIS'er now!

I love the size in concept, we will see how it looks when it arrives. I also loved the price on ebay!

Here is the final version of my sisters paper and some of the individual papers with their hidden meanings that were embedded into the final design. These are letter sized so she could print them on a home printer but I am going to be making both letter and standard scrap booking size as my offerings.

My mom is slightly annoyed with bridezilla as she was super impatient and wanted them printed NOW even though all that needed to be made now was the Save the Date cards. For which I created a special sheet of 1.5x1.5 inch squares for one of the flowers to do 1" circle die cuts on for the outside of the card and then printed up stickers with the same 1" circle cut. So she really didn't need the paper now. I do have professional printing lined up and my mom is not happy that my sister made her print them for her (not to mention using all her color ink). I had told my sister I had it set up but she wanted them NOW.

So they are sitting in a tub ready to be cut. :rotfl:

Mom and I are both annoyed as if they'd been done by my printer it would be on better paper and the green and cream would be more true...home ink jets can only do so much!

Oh well. She was trying to save money and I do get the desire for that!

The save the date cards are adorable and the mock up of the invite looks great! Thankfully somehow I got out of assembly on the STD, one the stickers come I will take a picture. Invites are a ways out still.

I will be using these to make her shower invites and a gift from me (to give at the shower) a custom cookbook binder made with her papers. I need to see if I can get the tabs done as well, right now all I have lined up is the binder but I do have lots of time on that one.

The "master" paper
For some reason photo bucket doesn't want to show it as landscape but that is how it is cut for the invites!. This was very much done to my sisters spec, there are a few things I would have done differently but she's happy and that's all that matters!

Kerri-Paper-jpeg.jpg

"Flower papers"

So named as they were used to make the flowers in the master. We have wedding vows in one, special words in another and special dates in another. The last one was just to tie things in a little, there are a few other more "plain" papers I used in the master and the background for the master is completely custom.

Lots of other sets in process but none final, I was getting my logo done, business license, the home page built and some other things set up first but will be creating stuff for the rest of the week I hope! I ended up having to rush those as I have a few jobs coming in already and want them to go under the new venture.

For any of you crafty scrappers out there that are interested in providing feedback, PM me as I would LOVE your input!

Last but not least....

my dress

Hopefully it works out! I love the color and the fabric in the picutre...not positive about the cut but we will see.

Love the Vera.

Love the paper. :thumbsup2

And love the dress. :woohoo: I'm a big fan of red.

I'm just full of love for your update. ;)

I love vera bradley bags:lovestruc I probably own more then I ever use:rolleyes: That style you got is one of my favorites, I've been looking to get that bag in the new orange pattern but I won't pay the prices online and the store near me that has them for 50% doesn't have that style:scared1:

I just have one - the hipster. I'd love to get another at some point. I use mine every day as my purse and it still looks just as good as the day I bought it a year ago.
