Liberty Tree Characters: RETURNING???

We certainly hope this is true. LTT is one of our favorites, and we happen to love the food! (Everybody's tastes are different) But adding the characters back would be just wonderful. We'll be eating here on our August trip. I hope they make it back by then, but my luck I'm sure they'll wait until Septemeber so we won't get to eat with them.

We recently made a LTT ADR for the end of April, before even knowing about this rumor. So, here's fingers crossed in hoping it's true!
I was so surprised when I made this ADR as they had availability for almost all times. We went last year when the characters were there, and it was one of the hardest ADR's to get. I really think that from a business stand point Disney made a HUGE mistake.
I do think that eventually, being the end of April or not the characters will come back sometime this year.

I really hate to burst everyone's bubble, but it appears that Jim Hill has recanted his story (sort of)!

Due to the overwhelming succes of Disney's 4+3 promotion to get masses into the parks, LTT is actually having to turn people away. Now JH is reporting that if the characters do come back, it probably won't be until September when the crowds MIGHT slow down. I really hope the characters do come back by September. Otherwise LTT will be one place we skip during our next trip. The food is OK, but it just wouldn't be the same without GOOFY! :goofy:

More info here: Goofy sez "See You in September ... Maybe"

I made an ADR for dinner there on the 6th. I will cancel it if the characters are not there. No sweat off my back. We will just eat elsewhere!

I hope the characters do not return...
Doesn't anyone else cherish a quiet, peaceful dinner without having a bunch of interruptions?
I mean, yes, some character meals are nice. But, does that mean every single restaurant in the MK must have characters? For cryin' out loud, how about a little balance..

I've only been to WDW once. May will be my 2nd trip EVER. We have two character meals scheduled: A Princess Lunch in Norway (just the girls - me, my niece and my sister) and then a character breakfast (all of us) at a restaurant where we are staying (Cape May @ Beach Club). I don't mind character meal, unless I have a fast pass for something and we MUST get done eating in a set amount of time.

I definitely agree! There needs to be a balance and recently the scale has been tipping too far toward character meals! They're noisy, take longer, usually cost more and overall are not a great experience. If you want to see the characters go to the meet and greets there are certainly enough of them especially in MK. Let's keep the majority of dining experiences peaceful and quiet.

There has to be a character meal in MK with Mickey Mouse! Get rid of dining with Winnie the Poo! That is one place that never insterested me because of the characters!

I hate to disagree with both of you, but some of us ADULTS actually enjoy the character dinners. Sometimes its nice to be able to get to meet the characters in a casual, slower paced setting. Why not kill 2 birds with 1 stone? By doing the character meals, you get to take a break from running around the park chasing the charcters and you get to eat a meal at the same time. If you want to go some place peaceful and quite, you might want to try somewhere else besides WDW. Some people like to have fun and enjoy themselves on their vacations, especially to WDW!

They have actually eliminated several of the charcater dinners (LTT and the Chip & Dale's Harvest Feast lunch at Epcot). If WDW keeps having $$ problems, I see them dropping more of the character dinners in the future.

I didn't ever say adults don't enjoy a character dinners! I just said it's nice to have a quiet place sometimes. LTT with characters is not a quiet place, yes it's a slower paced setting but it's not quiet in any sense and the word when characters are there. Why shouldn't we have a place peaceful and quiet in MK? We're no different than anybody else and certainly don't want to leave the park just the dinner! We definitely have fun enjoy ourselves in the Parks would just like a break once in awhile, something most people like. Please don't try to tell others what they should be doing on their vacation in just make your comments based on your preference!

Isn't the Plaza and Tonys character free. I'm big on character meals but understand that many don't like them. It does seem odd to me though that you can't eat with Mickey in the MK.

We ate here on our honeymoon trip and loved the food. Really wanted to bring the kids here now that we are returning for our 10th Anniversary. We're not going until Sept, so plenty of time to bring them back!

We LOVE LTT. With our without the characters. The food is simple, but it's very good food. Of course the characters were a bonus, so if the rumors are true, that's awesome!:thumbsup2

I think arguing against so many character meals at MK is kind of like arguing there should be more character meals at Epcot. They are different parks and people generally have different hopes and expectations when they go to each park.

When we go to MK, we go fully planning on being saturated with characters and kid friendly things. I think that helps explain why you see such a high percentage of the TS restaurants having character meals there.

When we go to Epcot, we expect much less kid type stuff and much less in the way of characters. We expect more adult type of restaurants and completely different dining experiences.

I'm sure there are some people that would like to see both MK and Epcot change that a little. However, I'll be the vast majority of people that attend each of the parks like the way the dining is done at MK and like the way it is done at Epcot.

I do agree that it would be nice to be able to have dinner with Mickey at MK, although it is a pretty quick and painless monorail ride over to Chef Mickeys.

I do not at all agree that they should do away with the Pooh charactes at CP. That is THE reason we want to eat at Crystal Palace. There are a lot of Pooh fans out there and the CP is about the only place in WDW you can plan on seeing them (other than an occasional Pooh sighting at Epcot maybe). I would like to see Mickey added, but I think that if you did away with Pooh and friends at CP, you would see a major revolt.

You never could - Minnie appeared at Liberty Tree, but not Mickey.

If the characters return to LTT then so will we.

I don't have a problem with non-character meals, but LTT isn't one I'd choose, at least not for dinner. If they changed the dinner menu to be more like the lunch menu, or if they lowered the price, well, maybe. I won't pay what they're charging, for the menu they're serving, without characters.

I don't dislike the food, but without characters I think it's too expensive for what you're getting.

I do hope they bring the characters back. For those that did not like the characters there was always lunch. For the price of dinner they should have characters or else lower the prices or change the menu to more like the lunch.

We were able to walk up during presidents week for lunch and I just made reservation two weeks ago for lunch on the 13th of April (when crowd calendars are a 10) and I had several times to choose from.
