Name that tune!!!!!!!!!
Winner can do the next one!

Listen children to a story
that was written long ago.
About a kingdom on a moutain
and valley folk below.

On the montain was a treasue
buried deep beneath a stone and
the valley people swore they'd have it
for their very own.

Okay give it a try its not too hard

Listen, children, to a story
That was written long ago,
'Bout a kingdom on a mountain
And the valley-folk below.

On the mountain was a treasure
Buried deep beneath the stone,
And the valley-people swore
They'd have it for their very own.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.

So the people of the valley
Sent a message up the hill,
Asking for the buried treasure,
Tons of gold for which they'd kill.

Came an answer from the kingdom,
"With our brothers we will share
All the secrets of our mountain,
All the riches buried there."

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.

Now the valley cried with anger,
"Mount your horses! Draw your sword!"
And they killed the mountain-people,
So they won their just reward.

Now they stood beside the treasure,
On the mountain, dark and red.
Turned the stone and looked beneath it...
"Peace on Earth" was all it said.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.

Can I do one since Heath didn't have any lyrics? How about
He was born in the summer of his twenty seventh year
coming home to a place he'd never been before.
He left yesterday behind him, you might say he was born again
you might say he found a key for ev'ry door.

When he first came to the mountains his life was far away
on the road and hangin' by a song.
But the strings already broken and he doesn't really care
it keeps changin' fast and it don't last for long.

I love that song, too, Rocky Mountain High by John Denver :)

And the Colorado Rocky Mountain high, I've seen it raining fire in the sky.
The shadows from the starlight are softer than a lullaby.
Rocky Mountain high, Colorado. Rocky Mountain high.

:ack: I'm no good at 70's music. Now, if you wanted to talk '80's that's another story.

Debbie

Loved Rocky Mountain High.

Here's another one, also from the 70's:

She is like a cat in the dark
and then she is the darkness
She rules her life like a fine skylark
and when the sky is starless.....

Okay Lars you got it , you have to do the next one

Steve

I was hoping this thread would take off better, we used to play Name that Tune here on the CB a couple of years ago and it was always fun.

Anyone else want to try and name some lyrics for everyone to guess on?

So sorry.....had to go........back now........here we go ...my 1st try at this...

He says, "Bill I believe this is killing me"
As a smile ran away from his face
"Well, I'm sure that I could be a movie star
If I could get out of this place."

Would that be Piano Man? :)

Lets try an 80's song:

Hop in my Chrysler, it's as big as a whale and it's about to set sail!
I got me a car, it seats about 20
So hurry up and bring your jukebox money.

Guesses?

Love Shack.........

how about another 80's one....

Well I lived on the outskirts of town
in an eight room farmhouse, baby
when my eight brothers and friends were
around
there was always somethin' doin
had me a couple of real nice girlfriends
stopped by to see me every once in a while
when I think back about those days
All I can do is sit and smile.

aaackkk! It's on the tip of my tongue but I can't THINK with the music playing!!! LOL

John Mellencamp???? Nooooooo wait...........

'YES!!

that's when smoke was smoke
and groovin'was groovin'

Cherry Bomb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cherry Bomb is right........your turn.......

Cherry Bomb? I must have missed that one. I'm going back to the 70s. :)

You get up every morning
From your alarm clock's warning
Take the 8:15 into the city
There's a whistle up above
And people pushin', people shovin'
And the girls who try to look pretty
And if your train's on time
You can get to work by nine
And start your slaving job to get your pay
If you ever get annoyed
Look at me I'm self-employed
I love to work at nothing all day
And I'll be...

please come to Denver
with the snowfall
we'll move up into the mountains
so far we can't be found
and throw i love you echoes
round the canyons
and lie awake at night
until they come back around
please come to Denver
she just said no, boy won't you come home to me
