We have a front loading Samsung and I am happy with it.
It has the add wash door which I use just about every time I do a load.
Every now and then we get a slight mildew smell but after the next load goes through the smell is gone. This model also has the feature where it keeps the door cracked for a certain amount of time to provide ventilation and allow the seal to dry.
We previously had a top loading HE model from Samsung and we never had any problems with it but it ended up being part of a recall. Apparently the washer had a tendency to have the top fly off during spin cycles. I didn't like the idea of having to duck and cover while doing laundry so we replaced it.
