Yeah, that's what I'm looking for. Or just a regular handheld shower will work.

Have any of you who have dealt with a major remodel, or are dealing with one, decided to move out during the renovations? I would be interested in the pros/cons from those who have opted to live through a mess and from those who opted for moving out altogether.

If we had someplace to go, I would do it in a flash! But moving in with family, would probably be just as bad as living in the mess!

No, that doesn't sound like fun at all. Especially when the weather turns colder. I hope you get this project done in a jiffy.

We do live down here in the Deep South, so even when we get really cold it doesn't last long, so we'll probably manage that. It's just going to turn our routine, so upset down, getting DH off to work is going to be a major headache! I really like the contractor we are going to be using. (I had him do the small kitchen remodel first.) And he was really great. Worked really quick. He even cleaned up as he went from one area to another! And he's not bad on the eyes either!

We are about to take on a major remodel. We just excavated around 1/2 of our house and put in new drainage and a driveway. We are in the middle of having our remodel house plans done right now.

Luckily, my fiance is a contractor, so alot of this he can do himself or find the right people. We live in Massachusetts, so if any of you have any questions about pricing, feasibility, etc. let me know and I'll try to pick his brain for you. He's done it all - both residential and commercial.

jipsy, Welcome! And your DF maybe sorry you offered to pick his brain! We could all wear out the poor man!

Man, you're lucky. My ex was a master plumber, but he could pretty much do anything. I can't even begin to tell you the things he did to our last house. It saved us $$$$.

My new husband is not so handy. But he's faithful, so I consider that a pretty good tradeoff.

Of all the times I've bitten my tongue on threads, I get points for that! I could have racked them up for something far more fun and satisfying than that!

If it was on this thread...wow...our remodeling thread must be getting awful racy! If it wasn't on this thread, then the folks hunting down violators probably think this thread is too boring to bother with and that nothing saucy ever happens here.

The only time I got filtered was when I mentioned the old TV show.. Dick Van ...... You know the old black and white one with Mary Tyler Moore? This was before the points structure. I wonder what would happen to me now if I mention that show now? I'm such a rebel.

No, it was on LaraK's "driving" thread. About ten hours later I got the points. Maybe the mod that popped me saw it, but I think someone turned me in. The post got deleted.

It kind of irritates me, because I'm definitely not a trouble maker on the boards. It would have been nice to get a warning first, and points if I did it again. I hear of people getting warnings, but I didn't.

LOL no. I got pregnant and our parents forced us to marry. He needed a job quickly, and at the time the oil business was booming down there. So we moved after the baby was born. About 6 months later he got laid off.

I have to say that Houma had some of the biggest misquitoes I've ever seen in my life! I was afraid they would carry my baby away. :lol:

I had the same problem when I was remodeling my kitchen. I ended up ordering from www.lightinguniverse.com, but I don't know if I got a good deal or not. They just happened to have exactly what I was looking for, so I went for it.

Luckily, I found a GREAT lighting store near my house. I ordered my bathroom lights from them and their prices are great, and the guy even lets you negotiate with him.

If you find something that you like, you can always call him and see what he could get it for. Of course, it'd have to be shipped to you, so I don't know how you'd come out money-wise.

Their name is Northwood Lighting and their number is 281-893-4920.

I've been pouring over Lightingdirect and Lightinguniverse's websites. We need a foyer light, dining room light, dinette light, and three sets of sconces. Needless to say, that adds up pretty quickly and I need to get the best price out there.

The ones in my bathroom were originally a bronze color, and I needed more of a platinum color. I ended up buying the sconces and the ceiling light in the bronze color and then I refinished them. I also had to refinish the cabinet hardware on that black vanity.

I don't want to have to do that again! It was scary!
