I need a pillow... a good pillow. I probably bought 10 pillows in the last year and just can't get one that I like

I have seen pillows for $100 plus and I would spend that if I could find the right one... heck, I've probably spent twice that on crappy ones that bunch up in a few weeks :teeth:

Does anybody have any recommendations :cloud9:

I can only sleep on the foam pillows from JCPenney: http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/ProductsHOM.aspx?DeptID=25436&CatID=37000&CatTyp=DEP&ItemTyp=G&GrpTyp=SIZ&ItemID=0f84dbd&ProdSeq=6&Cat=synthetic&Dep=&PCat=&PCatID=36997&RefPage=ProductList&Sale=&ProdCount=12&RecPtr=&ShowMenu=&TTYP=&ShopBy=0&RefPageName=CategoryAll.aspx&RefCatID=36997&RefDeptID=25436&Page=1&CmCatId=HomePage|28950|36997|37000

I've been sleeping on them since I was a wee one and now my DH won't sleep well without a foam pillow either.

I LOVE this Pillow from Amazon. It is a Simmons Beautyrest. It has coils in it to support your head, so it never get flat. But, just you can't fill the coils, it is so padded and soft that you would never believe that there are coils in it! I bought one about 8 years ago, and we are still using it! I just bought a new one though, because SO took my other LOL

I have a duck feather (95%) & down pillow (5%) that I bought at Bed, Bath and Beyond--I don't know who makes it. Label says Pacific Coast Feather did--but I have no idea if that is the name used on the packaging.

I think it was a $20-$30 pillow. I have to work my way up to 100% down. But it is nice and squishy and I bunch it up into how I want to use it. I have hated the inflexibility of all the pillows I have used in the past.

I have a $100 Tempur-Pedic pillow from Bed Bath & Beyond and I love it! I have a tendancy to have neck problems and this has helped ALOT!

I have a Temerpedic pillow. It cost around $100. It's great, especially if you are a person with neck problems, since it has two elevated areas with a channel that runs down the middle of them so you neck is held in the proper position and your heads rests in the channel.

I don't take it when I travel, and I know it. Regular pillows are so uncomfortable now!!!

My husband surprised me with a Tempur-pedic last year. It is the greatest pillow ever! So comfortable and just delicious! I prefer the "classic" style to the contoured. $100, next I want the bed.

I did a survey and got a free tempurpedic and a select comfort memory foam pillow to compare. I gave away the tempurpedic and LOVE the select comfort. They are both really comfortable but take some getting used to because they are different from regular pillows. I used a Sobakawa buckwheat pillow for a long time, but they are heavy and you can hear the little shells when you move your head. I dragged my travel size Sobakawa on my Disney trips for years. I'm really picky about my pillows.

If you want good quality down pillows that are reasonably priced try the Northern Nights Down Pillows from QVC. They sell different shapes and sizes and in sets of 2 to 4 for good prices. I own 4 Gusseted pillows and 4 medium firm down and 2 light fluffy down. All their pillows are "Hyper-Cleaned" which means the feathers go through a very, very thorough cleaning process that removes something like 99.8 % of the dust and dirt and all the stuff that makes people allergic to down or sneeze. Plus, their feathers are no quill so they will not poke and you will not have that problem of when you take the pillow case off you end up with a bunch of feathers down in the bottom of the case. I highly recommend them and if interested just go to IQVC.com and in the search type Northern Nights. :thumbsup2

This thread cracks me up.

I've honestly never thought about pillows. I have a bunch and they are all fine. I did not know there was such a big difference :confused3

I was the same way you were.................went through lots of cheapies!!!!!
My MIL had an Ashley Cooper pillow in her spare room when I stayed there last and it was like heaven sleeping on it. I went and purchased one and it is my fav pillow now. I bought it at Boscovs for $20, which isn't too expensive either. :cloud9:

Thank you guys so much :goodvibes

I have stenosis and arthritis in my neck so I need to have something good or else it can be a really painful day

Pillows make such a difference...in fact before I saw this thread, I was thinking I need to take my pillow with me to Boston, we are staying there for two nights in a hotel...if the pillow is uncomfortable, it will make for a long night of no sleeping.. My pillow, although I love it, is now getting a bit flat, what my daughter refers to as pancake pillows....and I am in the market for a new one myself.....this thread is going to help me too.. thanks for asking the question.

Are you all stomach, side, or back sleepers?

Just curious if that makes much of a difference in what kind of pillow you need. :confused3

I'm a stomach sleeper, so the softer the pillow, the better -- plus I like them a little flatter. I can usually get away with buying ones that cost less than $10 because of this.

I have used both, and I have to agree with you. I like my Select Comfort a lot more than my Tempurpedic.

I'm a side sleeper, so I need a thick firm pillow.

DH and I each have the queen size Tempurpedic pillows ($150.00 each) and have been happy with them. I used to have neck pain, but the pillows have solved that problem for me.

I must admit that I'm now curious about the Select Comfort pillows that a few people have mentioned. What is the difference between a Select Comfort and a Tempurpedic that you like better?

If it makes any difference, I start out sleeping on my side and usually end up on my back.
