Let's Roast This Pig!- A March/April Birthday TR [Final Wrap Up! 9/27]

Hey everyone! Just a quick and random life update for you all. I forgot to mention in my last update that I had an unexpected DIS meet on the 4th of July last week!!

That morning my parents and I went to go see the parade a few towns away from us. The parade was great and after it was over the crowd was crazy and all over the place. Well as we were trying to get out, I noticed a family that I recognized from somewhere....then it dawned on me! The DIS! It was Marsha (Marshay on the DIS) and her family!

I was so excited and knew I had to go tell her that I had been reading her TR. She was so sweet and we both couldn't believe that this random DIS meet had occurred! It was so nice meeting her and her family and it definitely made my day too!

Onto other Disney related news...I bought my first Disney Dooney & Bourke a few weeks ago! I had been eyeing this specific bag for a long long time and when someone posted on the DIS that all park merch. was 20% off, I knew I had to get it! With the discount code and free shipping I saved about $40 so I was pretty happy:woohoo: I guess this was kind of like a grad. present to myself! :rotfl:

And finally, we got a 2nd dog over the weekend! I was pretty much totally against this whole idea, but my Dad has really been wanting a dog for himself for awhile. We have a rat terrior named Maisy that we've had for about 3 1/2 years now, but she's pretty much my Mom and I's dog. So my Dad found a 10 month old corgi mix named Pacer online who was in a high kill shelter down in SC. Soon enough, my parents went and picked him up in DC where a whole bunch of other dogs were adopted too.

He's a really sweet dog but has a few problems like food aggression and barking at every single thing. But overall he's a good dog. And we renamed him too. We were talking about names and since he has kind of reddish fur I suggested Copper, from the Fox and the Hound! Even though Copper is the dog's name and not the fox's my parents both loved it, so he's now officially named Copper :)

Here's me and Copper today.

IMAG0323.jpg

And here's the two of them, after they've worn each other out:rolleyes:

That's it for now, I should have an update on our day at DHS soon!

Aw, we had a Copper! He was a basset hound.

How cool was it meeting Marshay?

And I love the Dooney--I want one, but I just can't ever hit those sales at the right time.

Wow, that's so cool you had a DisMeet! It must've been awesome meeting another DISer when you least expected it. :D

Awwwww... Copper is adorable! Corgi is my favorite type of dog and I've gotten everyone (except my dad who thinks every dog smaller than the bear we own is a rat) in my family on the same track. The ears and the long body so close to the ground, oh they are so cute! :cutie:

I think we have the same couch. Ha ha!

Haha no way! That's pretty cool. I think ours is a La Z Boy? We've had it for like 13 years so it's pretty beat up:laughing:

Aw really?! How cute, yeah a basset hound would really match the movie then wouldn't it!

It was very cool, I was kinda nervous just going up to her but so glad I did in the end!

Yeah, I was lucky that night I found the code. They are so expensive though, I would never pay full price for one.

Yes, it was amazing! I definitely wasn't expecting it that morning.

Thank you! Aww I'm sorry your Dad doesn't like Corgis:guilty: I laughed out loud at your comment on the bear you own though:rotfl: I agree though some dogs are so big they look like horses and bears, crazy! But yeah Corgis are just the cutest things, hopefully you can convince him soon enough!

Awesome about your unexpected DIS meet! :thumbsup2

So jealous of your D&B! I have the wristlet in that pattern but I really want a bag. I saw someone the other day with the 40th anniversary design and again, I was super envious. So cute!

Yes it was so cool! I never thought I'd be lucky enough to run into another DISer.

Aw thanks. The wristlets are so cute too! The 40th anniversary design is adorable. I swear between all the cute D&B bags and trips to Disney I'm going to be broke before I graduate college:rotfl:

:woohoo:for an unexpected Dis-meet! Great picture of you guys!

Love your Dooney!! Nothing like treating yourself!!! It's the best gift!!:thumbsup2

Thank you! It was so cool, and definitely more fun since it was so unexpected!

Thanks, I love it too:cloud9: And you're very right, treating yourself is always a very good thing! I felt bad getting it at first since it was worth at least 2 paychecks from my work. But then I figured I'd rather have the bag than grocery/text book money for school anyways:rotfl:

March 31,2011- DHS (Part 1)

After a fabulous birthday at AK we woke up the next day ready for some fun at Hollywood Studios. Well that readiness for fun quickly evaporated as soon as we looked out the window…

yes, indeed, it was raining yet again:sad2::sad1::sad2:

We weren’t happy to say the least. But we knew we’d just have to make the best of it, so in the bag the very familiar ponchos went!

I think I skipped the Mickey waffles for breakfast this morning, although I could have easily eaten them all 5 days:rotfl:

The outfit for the day. My Aerosmith tank top that I got from RNRC last summer:cool2:

DSCI0429-1.jpg

We were out the door and on the bus by around 8:30ish I think and pretty soon we were there.

DSCI0431-1.jpg

I failed at taking a picture of the DHS entrance. lol But look how depressing it was outside:sad2:

DSCI0433.jpg

DSCI0435.jpg

DSCI0436.jpg

See how dark and grey it was out! You'd think we were getting there around 9pm instead of am!
Cont'd. in next post

Once we got inside we had one ride on our minds that we were headed to first. And no it wasn't TSM!!

I wish I could have taken more pictures of the main drag, but the rain kept me from doing so

DSCI0438.jpg

DSCI0439.jpg

DSCI0442.jpg

I personally love the hat. I know a lot of people don't like it because it blocks the Chinese theater...but I mean it's still there right?!

Soon we turned to the right....and saw this beauty.

DSCI0447.jpg

DSCI0448.jpg

But that wasn't where we were headed first!

Instead we were heading straight for this...

:love::love::love:
This, right here, is my favorite ride at Disney. Favorite ride in the world. Favorite ride in the universe. I LOVE Aerosmith, and I LOVE high speed shoot off coasters. Therefore, best. ride. ever. to me at least!

My parents both love this one too so we knew long before this would be our first ride of the day. The wait wasn't bad at all yet so we got in line.

DSCI0459.jpg

I know you're not supposed to take pictures during the video...but I couldn't help it;) I just love Steven Tyler!!

DSCI0461.jpg

The ride was great of course, so we got in line for a 2nd go round! It was still amazing, and I managed to get a good shot of our ride pic

DSCI0464.jpg

embarrassing....:rotfl::lmao:
After the 2nd time, I went a little overboard in the gift shop....I bought 2 shirts and a necklace, and since I spent so much the CM talked me into getting a Mickey tote bag for an extra $12:laughing: I had it all sent back to the room and we decided to move on for now, since we had FPs for later!

I got a a few pics in front of the guitar first, then we headed for our next ride.
DSCI0465.jpg

I really hope this is the right hand signal for rock on, because I did it a lot for some reason while we were over there:rotfl:

DSCI0466.jpg

Up Next: Tower of Terror, with real lightening! Can't get any more real than that.

I loved riding RnR but I was too much of a scaredy cat to ride TOT. I felt so ashamed when my 8-yr-old told me, "come on Mom, it can't be that scary!"

Awww , yeah TOT really freaks people out! I absolutely love it, I even did my physics project on it. But I used to be scared of it too when I was about 8 ironically!

Wow I just looked at your ticker, you'll be in Disney in less than a week!!! I'm jealous! Hope you have a great time :)

Well, it didn't look quite as bad at DHS as it did when we were at the Contemporary! But yeah, that was another miserable day.:sad2:

I like the hat too. It's cool but I guess I understand why some people are mad about it. But like you said, atleast it's still there.

Gotta love RNRC! I actually took a picture during the preshow too, so don't feel too bad. ;)

RnRC... one of the only rides in Disney I have yet to go on. I just have this fear of rollercoasters with inversions. I don't know what it is, but I just don't like them. A lot I know enjoy this ride more than ToT and I LOVE (L.O.V.E) ToT, will have to force myself onto it on my next trip... Maybe...

Awwww... more rain... I'm sorry you've had to deal with all of that, but it's Disney so you power through, right? :thumbsup2 And it was for your favorite ride, so what you got to lose? LOL

I noticed in this pictures that there was a crane near Tower of Terror. I remember that being there on my trip, which was over a month before. Were they seriously still painting or was there something else? I can't believe it took them over a month to paint the whole thing.

Can't wait to read about your ToT with "real lightning"! *says in commercial voice* :mickeyjum

Yes for some reason it wasn't quite as dark at DHS than over by MK for some reason:confused3

Yeah I think the hat is adorable, and adds more character to DHS, but so many people want it out of there!

Glad I'm not the only one who takes pics during the preshow. lol It's so cute I just had to!

You haven't been on RNRC yet?!?! Oh my gosh you need to soon!! It's sooo good, believe me if you can handle TOT you can totally do RNRC!

Yeah the rain wasn't too bad in the morning so it didn't affect us much then. After RNRC though it started to pour:sad2:

The crane was actually not directly in front of TOT, I know the picture looks deceiving! It was actually over to the side and farther away from it. But they did still have scaffolding around the front of it, so I guess they were still giving it a face lift over a month later! :confused3

March 31, 2011- DHS (Part 2)

After our double go round on RNRC we headed over to TOT next. By this point it had started to pour/thunderstorm pretty badly if I remember correctly.

On the way over, I spotted another Tron sign!

DSCI0468.jpg

The first time I ever went to Disney back when I was about 7, it was raining on our (then MGM) day ironically too. I had wanted to go on TOT but it was actually lightning outside and that was a little too real for me! lol So I skipped it then, but this day it was doing the same thing and I was not missing this opportunity again!

Anywho, we got fastpasses first then got in the relatively short line. The ride was awesome, no different with real lightning though, lol. :headache:

I wish I'd gotten a good closer up picture of the TOT but the rain was just too insane :(

After TOT we came out through the gift shop and the rain had slacked off for a bit so we decided we really wanted to do the Backlot Tour.

We stopped to get an iced coffee or a muffin I think at the little cart by the exit of TOT and headed over to check out the tour.

By the time we got over there, there were CMs blocking the entrance saying that it doesn't run in the rain. :sad2:

We decided to come back later to it and decided to check out TSM!!!

This was a first for all of us. The standby was only about 35 minutes, and since it was starting to pour we decided to give it a try. The line moved pretty quickly but took pretty much 40 minutes. We of course took some pictures of the awesome queue though!

DSCI0469.jpg

DSCI0470.jpg

DSCI0473.jpg

None of us had ever been on this before and after being on the DIS and hearing everyone rave about it, I was ready to find out what was so great about this ride! And OH MY GOSH, it was SO much fun! Definitely wasn't expecting anything like it. My Mom had started to get a migraine while we were in line but she stuck it out through the ride. She was definitely glad she did too because she and my Dad both loved it!
I liked it even more because I beat my Mom's score:rotfl: In all fairness she wasn't feeling well, but I beat my Dad's too!

DSCI0475.jpg

After TSM it was still pouring, we walked by the Backlot Tour again, and it was still closed. We ran inside the QS area right by it to get dry for a second and decide what to do next.

A very nice young CM, who was the manager of the QS place right there was bored and asked us if we needed any help. Since one of my career goals is to be a manager in one of the parks I decided to ask her how she got started here! She said that after her first semester of college she then did the DCP. She came home, finished college, then immediately moved back to Orlando to start working her way up! I thought it was pretty awesome how she was so young and was already a manager of one of the QS there!

After we chatted with her, we decided we were getting hungry and went to look for some food.

I knew it would be a little pricey, but I suggested Sci-Fi to my parents because the place looks so cool and I thought they'd like it!

So we headed over there, and asked if they had anything available. All of the cars were booked but they could fit us in at a table. I was a little disappointed we wouldn't get the full experience, but still happy we were actually going to be eating there, so we took it!

As soon as we walked in the main room my parents were amazed! I'd seen pics here on the DIS of course but oh my gosh it was so cool actually seeing it in person! We were seated at a car table in the very back, and our waitress came out. Her name was Janet, and she was so hilarious and very sweet.

DSCI0477.jpg

Pretty sure it's impossible to get a good picture in here:sad2:

When she came back to take our drink order, it took my Dad and I awhile to figure out what we wanted because there were so many cool choices. Janet tried to help and said "Okay look, do you want your drink to glow, yes or no?" to help us narrow down our choices :rotfl: I finally decided and got the minute maid punch with the light up tinkerbell and my Dad got a diet coke in the sci-fi cup with light up cube!

DSCI0479.jpg

Coolest. Drinks. Ever.
(The light up Tinkerbell stopped working after we got home, but the light up ice cube still works surprisingly!)

Soon enough our food came out. I got the turkey club sandwich I'm assuming from the picture. I didn't write down what we got for some reason:confused3

DSCI0480.jpg

And my parents split the chicken sandwich? I honestly don't know, I guess that's what this is, lol.

DSCI0481.jpg

After we were finished, Janet brought me an ice cream sundae for my birthday:goodvibes

DSCI0482.jpg

Overall the lunch was delicious!! I'm SO glad we got to eat here. The food was awesome, our waitress was so sweet/funny, and of course the atmosphere is just amazing. This was something that I'd kinda hoped to do while we were there, but pretty much thought it would never happen. I definitely want to go back someday though so I can get to sit in one of the actual cars though!

After our filling lunch, we went back out in to the dreaded rain to see what else we could accomplish.

Up Next: More rain, but thank goodness for the inside shows!

Now, I'm having second thoughts about rainy days in Disney. I would LOOOOVVVEEEE to go on ToT with real lightning. I mean, what if the window opened and lightning struck right as the window opened. I would be "OMG, it's REAL LIGHTNING!!!" Seriously, I'm jumping up and down right now just thinking about *sigh*

Oh, I love TSM! I'm so glad you got to try it for your birthday. The queue is cool and the ride is the best. If only Buzz Lightyear was like TSM... Hahahaha And that's awesome you beat both your parents :thumbsup2

Cool, that you went to SciFi... I'm really not a fan of the restaurant, the atmosphere is cool, but the food was really... okay, like I know I got lucky with a good dish, but compared to other TS I've been to, it just fell below. Like, they ruined my sister's steak. But I'm glad to see you really enjoyed it. Maybe, if I got what you and your dad got, it would've been a lot nicer. I've heard they have really good desserts, ice cream and milkshakes, so that may have made up for something. Also, our waitress was awful, so that too (LOL @ the drinks light-up or not, question)... (: Though, I did get to sit in one of the cars.

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Haha yes that would be amazing if that happened! I bet it's happened before, but you'd have to be extremely lucky. Yes I'm so glad we got to go on TSM, and I was pretty surprised I beat both of them! lol

Yeah I remember reading about your experience at Sci Fi on your TR, I'm sorry it wasn't so good:sad2: I know bad waitresses and of course bad food will ruin it. But I definitely think you should try again someday, and request Janet as your waitress if she's still there!:thumbsup2

I just clicked on your TR tonight and started reading :) I'm only on the first day - second update but I will continue to read more tomorrow :goodvibes I LOVE your excitement and enthusiasm about going to Disney - that's how I get!! :wizard: I can't wait to read more about your adventures... I'm sure there are a lot of cute stories to come princess:

(and I LOVE that you own mickey everything. so cute!!! :mickeybar )
