Let's Roast This Pig!- A March/April Birthday TR [Final Wrap Up! 9/27]

Finally all caught up!

Love your Fantasmic photos. I haven't seen that show in about 8 years now...I'm due!

So cute that you decorated for mousekeeping.:thumbsup2

Love that Smoulder!

Of course that's a Hidden Mickey!

I can't believe that flight changed to 3 hours earlier!! I would have been quite stressed over that. No way we could make that with 2 small kids.

Your dorm room looks fantastic!! Nice to see you made it yours/Disney.

So neat that you have a roommate that loves Disney, too I see a future spring break trip together!!

Oh, your shoe tape dispenser is so unique!

Ok, now that your TR is nearing its end, I can't wait to hear what your parents thought about WDW after all was said and done. I know they did this trip for you and they got very tired and all ... but did any of the magic rub off on them?

I LOVE YOUR DORM!!!!! oh my God it's ADORABLE! my dorm is super Disney-fied too and I love it! Unfortunately, no one I have met in college yet really "gets" disney, but they all think my room is adorable!! so that's a plus. I'm going to do a dorm update soon, I think! I just gotta take some pictures! Yay so cute! :goodvibes

Man, I am JEALOUS of those Disney wall stickers!

That's so awesome that your roommate loves Disney too, at least you have someone to talk about Disney with! And it's definitely sad that you're ending your TR. But at least you have the Disney college program to look forward to!

I love all the Disney themes in your room. Espically your desk. :thumbsup2

I'll keep reading to find out if you have any future Disney plans soon. :surfweb:

Thank you for the College Life! update. I enjoyed it a lot.
I usually go see Disney movies when they are at the theatre, but, for some reason I had never seen Tangled. I knew I needed to see it before my Nov. Disney trip (and I was also very curious about Flynn after seeing your photos!). So, I bought the movie this weekend. Well I just LOVED it!! :lovestruc:lovestruc
Repunzel is def my favorite princess! I would like to meet her at the parks but it looked like it was quite a process to do it.:confused3
Anyway, I hope school is going great for you. :teacher:
:hug:

Your dorm looks great :) I am still in the process of decorating my part of the room and you have motivated me to put up more disney things. I had class during the school's poster sale so I didn't get a chance to get some poster and stuff to decorate my room. I need to get some more stuff today :) I love how pretty much everything in there is disney!

Thanks! Oh that stinks you had class during the poster sale. I'm glad I motivated you to put up more disney stuff though:thumbsup2

Your dorm looks fantastic! I don't think one area of the room could get any more Disney-fied than that. Seriously! I love the "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" plaque and all the Disney photos behind it. Your little Princess friends by your bunk are cute too :goodvibes I think I could go on and on about it. And yeah, Disney park maps SHOULD be college required or required wherever you go to school whatever level for that matter :teeth: LOL @ Lady Windemere and all of your roommates having to name everything :laughing: And that's so cool you got to meet the President of your school, it looked like you guys had a fun time. (:

Awwww... only one more update. I be sad :( Hopefully there will be many future trips so I can read more of your awesome TRs =D Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Thanks Timmy! Haha yeah I don't think it could either! Lol Disney park maps really should be required, there should be a class offered all about the parks, wouldn't that be awesome?! Yeah my roommates are quite odd about the whole naming thing but it's pretty hilarious:rotfl: Yes it was so neat meeting him, he really interacts with all the students here which is so cool.

Aww thanks that means so much! I really hope I can go on more trips so I can write more TRs, it's so much fun and I'm going to miss talking to everyone!

I love your dorm room and all of your Disney decorations! :thumbsup2 And it's a definite plus having a roommate who likes Disney too. Hope your semester is going well so far!

Thank you! Yes it is nice having a roommate who loves it just as much. I feel sorry for our other roommate though sometimes, we must drive her crazy with all the Disney talk:rotfl:

Thank you! Yes it sounds like you are overdue to see it! I love that show so much, it's definitely going to be a must do for me every trip now.
Yes I couldn't believe the flight changed so much either. I tried and tried to get my Dad to get a better time, but no luck. Oh my gosh yes there's no way you could've done that with 2 small kids! That would be crazy!

Thanks, I really love my dorm. Haha yeah it is nice having a roommate who likes it so much. Hmm yes a spring break trip does sound like a good idea:rolleyes1 Lol yes isn't that tape dispenser the best?! I found it at Office Depot and had to get it.

Haha about my parents and Disney...the magic definitely didn't rub off on them still:sad2: A few months ago we kicked around the idea of going to CA next summer and I mentioned Disneyland to them, they immediately said no way:sad1: I think my Mom still does have some interest in it though, one of my biggest trip dreams is to go for a week with just her. I think she would really like it, we could try out more of the restaurants, resort hop, and maybe even stay at AKL, which I know she would just LOVE! So I guess I'll just have to keep working on them, because my Dad still calls Mickey the "money grubbing rat" :sad2:

Thank you!! Lol I spent so much time this summer just finding the perfect girly Disney things for it:goodvibes Yeah, that stinks that you haven't found any other Disney fans there yet, I'm sure they're there though! I can't wait to see your dorm too! I'm sure it's adorable too!!

Man, I am JEALOUS of those Disney wall stickers!

Haha thanks, I love them so much, definitely one of my best buys for my room! Yes it's nice being able to talk about Disney with her! Yes I really don't want to end this TR, but you're right I do have the DCP to look forward too! I just wish it would hurry up already:goodvibes

I love all the Disney themes in your room. Espically your desk. :thumbsup2

I'll keep reading to find out if you have any future Disney plans soon. :surfweb:

Aw thank you! Yes I really love my desk, it was such a mess at first but now it's exactly how I wanted it! Yes definitely keep reading, I'll talk about my hopeful future plans soon:thumbsup2

I've enjoyed reading your 2 trip reports! Enjoy every minute of college- and I can't wait to hear about you being a cast member!

Aw thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed reading them, because it was so much fun to write them!. I only wish I could go more often so I could write more TRs!! And thank you I will, yes I can't wait to share with everyone my experiences once I become a CM!:goodvibes

Your dorm room looks awesome.

That is so that your roommate likes disney too. Im sure a non disney fan wouldnt appreciate your decorations. caitlin had the same princess stickers in her room but tore them down a few weeks ago. I didn't even think of putting them near my desk. I dont know if dh would like that very much.

I LOVE your dorm! I'm putting pics of mine up on my ptr right now--you should check them out!!!! Do you have a fb? I'd love to add you!

re: money grubbing rat....:sad2::sad2:

I'm sorry to hear that. But I do understand, esp for our parents and grandparents generation. My dad still loves Disney but has a hard time at WDW spending money on anything that isn't a great value. (i.e, he'll only eat at the buffets so he can 'get his money's worth').

I gave them money to go to California Grill for their Anniversary one trip and it was totally wasted on them. My mom enjoyed the dinner and the fireworks but my dad was constantly like, "I can get a whole pig for the price of this pork tenderloin meal!":rotfl2:

Hope college is going well.

Yeah, the last day at WDW is just the worst...I'm sorry to see your TR end.

Yeah it's great having her as a roommate, but our other roommate who isn't obssessed with disney likes our stuff too. She's pretty understanding of our obsession:laughing: Aw you should put them by your desk, I don't think your Dh would mind too much:rolleyes1

Yes, it really is sad :( Yeah it does seem like that generation sometimes has a hard time justifying the cost of Disney. That's kinda funny that your Dad will only eat at the buffets! Lol It really makes sense though.

And his comment about the pig cracked me up!! That really sounds like something my Dad would say too!:rotfl: College is going pretty good, I miss my family a lot but I get to see them pretty much every month so that helps.

I dread the last day :( I started dreading it the day we got there! lol I have a hard time with vacations ending.

My new planning strategy is to do something neat, new or preferably both, on our last full day of the trip. This gives us something to look forward to and eases the sadness, a little.

But I totally understand what you mean. I try to fully enwrap myself in the magical dreams ... and it's hard to wake up to reality after that!

Yes that's definitely a good planning idea for the last day! I'll have to remember that for next time.

It really is hard to wake up to reality, especially after a magical time at Disney:goodvibes

Wrap up, countdown, and future plans!

Alright folks, it's time that I suck it up and end this TR. The trip has been over long enough and I need to wrap this up as much as I hate to :(

So my final thoughts on the trip: I had an amazing, amazing, amazing time. I seriously didn't think this kind of a trip would ever happen in the first place with my parents:rolleyes: Even though at times our days in the parks were very, and I mean very, wet and cold, I know we all still managed to have a great time and enjoy ourselves. Being there on my actual birthday was pretty magical as well. It will definitely go down as the best birthday ever, I mean how could it not?! My birthday dinner was so great and I feel like my parents actually enjoyed themselves fully, at Disney, for like the first time ever that night!

So I think I'll do a countdown (in no particular order) of my top 10 magical/favorite moments of the trip to finish this TR off!

~Getting my first happy birthday from a CM

DISNEYWORLDBIRTHDAYTRIP2011039.jpg

I LOVED having this button. I tried to keep count of all the happy birthdays I got in the beginning but there were just way too many! Lol It was so awesome having so many people wish me a happy birthday, it really made turning 18 even more magical!

~Eating my first Mickey waffle

DISNEYWORLDBIRTHDAYTRIP2011118.jpg

Man, these things are seriously the best waffles in. the. world. I pretty much can't eat a waffle without comparing it to a Mickey waffle anymore now. I got a Mickey waffle for breakfast almost every morning this trip and boy were they good!

~Having my first dole whip

DISNEYWORLDBIRTHDAYTRIP2011073.jpg

I was so excied for this leading up to the trip. I sort of wish I would've waited till it was a little bit warmer and not cold and rainy to eat my first one. But it was still very very yummy and definitely lived up to all the hype I hear about here on the DIS.

~Eating our very first TS meal

DSCI0425.jpg

This was one thing I was so excited for as we'd never done it before! This meal was amazing and even better my parents absolutely loved it as well. Although the food wasn't what I would call amazing, it was still pretty good, and the character interactions were simply spectacular.

~Meeting Mickey & Minnie

DISNEYWORLDBIRTHDAYTRIP2011079.jpg

Now of course I'd met them both before. But the last time I met them was when I was little, like back in 4th grade! So getting to meet both of them, and Mickey twice on the first day, was so amazing. I love Mickey so much and it's just always so much fun meeting my future boss:goodvibes

~The Fantasmic miracle

DSCI0504.jpg

Gosh that night is still amazing to me. I can't believe the rain cleared up in time for me to see my absolute favorite show at Disney. Although I really wish my parents could have been there to watch it with me, it was a lot of fun being in the park by myself!

~Picking a pearl in Japan

rr2.jpg

This was something I had kind of wanted to do, but was never really determined to do it. However, I'm SO glad I did!! I still wear my necklace with my pearl in it to this day and I get so many compliments on it! It was such a fun experience and I can't wait to do it again someday.

~Staying onsite for the first time

DISNEYWORLDBIRTHDAYTRIP2011026.jpg

This was another thing I thought would never happen with my family. Styaing onsite seemed like such a dream to me, so when my parents agreed I couldn't believe it! There really is no comparison to how magical disney makes your stay so much better when onsite. This definitely spoiled me into believing that I'll have to stay onsite for every Disney vacation now too:)

~Meeting Flynn & Rapunzel (And having Flynn smolder at me)

DSCI0569.jpg

Photo0071FourBySix.jpg

This right here was the most magical moment of the trip for me. After waiting almost 3 hours to meet them Flynn smoldering for me definitely paid off and made it SO worth it. I swear when Flynn took my hand and smoldered at me I saw angels and almost fainted:rotfl: But really, it was an amazing meet and greet and I'm so glad I got the opportunity to meet him before he left.

This will sound cheesy but my parents and I are so close since I'm an only child so it was really great to spend time with them for my birthday, and all while at the happiest place on earth! It was also great to be able to show them all my newfounded Disney World knowledge and also what had changed since they were they last.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So I know you all are dying to know what my future Disney plans are right??
..........
Well, I hate to let you all down, but I have absolutely none:sad1:
Even though I absolutely loved this trip and had a blast, my parents still aren't hooked on Disney, at all.:sad2: Sad huh?! I thought for sure this trip would change their minds but alas, all the rain and nonstop walking was still too much for them I guess.
However, that does not mean I'm giving up on going back! I enter sweepstakes every week, hoping that eventually I might be lucky and win a vacation back there. Other than that, a few weeks ago I priced out a solo trip for myself and with the free dining, airfare, hotel, and tickets the total came to be a little less than $1500. To me that's really not too bad, but what do I know. haha Maybe if I work my butt off this winter break and early spring I could save at least a good chunk to go sometime next year?
Besides my fantasy solo trip (that will probably never happen) I definitely have the DCP to look forward to!!!! I'm so excited to do the DCP and I've already spoken to my counselor here at cnu about it. He told me the best time for me to do the program would be either the summer before my junior or senior year. So in a couple of years I'll hopefully be a CM! I definitely cannot wait for that and am actually hoping these college years fly by so I can finally move down to FL for good!:yay:
So that's about it everyone! Thank you all so much for reading along and commenting along the way about my very wet, but also very fun 18th birthday trip. I really loved getting to know you all and I hope to keep up with everyone on their TRs! Hope to talk to you all soon:)
Aw, what a great top ten list.:goodvibes
It looks like you had an amazing time. Too bad the trip didn't convert your parents, but at least you have being a CM to look foward too. I'm sure they would want to come visit you if that happened.
I am still so bummed that Flynn is gone. Your pictures with him are the best.
I hope that when Caitlin turns 18 and is off to college she will want to take one last Disney trip with her parents.
Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Have a great time in school and good luck with all of your future Disney plans.
Great wrapup! That picture of you with Flynn is awesome.
Bummer you have no plans to go back (yet!). I think you need a do-over trip. I think it'd be hard to get anyone hooked on Disney with all the rain there was that trip!
What wonderful memories! Remind me- where did you see Mickey and Minnie dressed up so cute?
Yes, they were great ones! I met them there at the exit of Splash Mountain. It was rainy that day so they were undercover right by the exit of the gift shop.
Aw, what a great top ten list.:goodvibes
Yes I'm so mad it still didn't convert them, but yes becoming a CM is something I'm so excited for I seriously cannot wait! Yeah hopefully they'll agree to visit me at least once while I'm down there for the DCP.
Thanks, meeting Flynn was so great. I'm bummed too, removing him so early was such a bad move on their part :( Aw I hope Caitlin will want to do one last trip before she goes off to college as well! It will be so much fun.
Thank you for reading too! I can't wait for school to be over with already! lol So then my Disney plans will be more frequent, haha. :goodvibes
Thank you! Yes I really love that picture. It's definitely one of my favorites from the whole trip:lovestruc
Haha a do-over trip sounds like such a good idea!! If only my parents would agree with that:laughing: Yeah, you're right it's hard to show on the fence people the true magic when it's so rainy, especially during that week we were there:rolleyes:
Hi Clarice!
I enjoyed your "wrap up" and am glad I stopped back by and found it.
I sure wish Flynn was still available for photos and smoldering! Your pics are sooo adorable!
I really hope you do achieve your dreams of working for the mouse!
Best wishes to you!
