Let's rate the commercials

Re: the commercial where that idiot was licking Doritos cheese from a guy's finger and another guy's pants. Holy crap, that was disgusting. :headache:

I thought that one was really gross!! I did like the healing Doritos though. As a paranoid soul I thought the reply all commercial was funny:)

Yeah, the Healing Doritos (w/resurrected Grandpa) spot was one of the better ones.

I know everyone is gaga over Eminem and Chrysler, but it really seemed FAKE to me (and weird. What was with the choir and him wandering into the theatre??). Eminem DOES NOT DRIVE. In fact, he's afraid to. A lengthy interview in Rolling Stone last year confirmed this. Even if he DID drive, no WAY he'd be seen in a Chrysler.

Actually, as far as being seen in a Chrysler, not true. He's actually pretty down to earth as far as celebrities go and really doesn't live all that large, particularly as rappers go. He's seen around the community, but doesn't get much press coverage & keeps it pretty lowkey these days. If you bump into him in public & aren't paying attention, you'd never know it.

Very cool to see him turn his life around, and an awful lot of people in Motown hope Chrysler (along w/ GM and Ford) can do the same.

Yeah, the Doritos one skeeved out everybody here. Only saw the Timothy Hutton Groupon one & that was completely misguided, yeah, I'll just leave it at completely misguided. :headache:

Yes. I know. I read the article. I just found the ad, showing HIM driving when he doesn't drive at all, to be incredibly phony and self-aggrandizing. It was a two minute commercial, at $3 million per 30 seconds, plus however much they shelled out to hire Eminem and pay for the rights to his song...

Seems like they could've done a lot of actual good for the city of Detroit with that money.

just my opinion.

I liked his Iced Tea commercial better. THAT's the "Slim Shady" I know and love.

I loved the commercial with the kid Darth Vadar. I also enjoyed the Doritos and Pepsi Max commercials.

I hated the commercial with Kim Kardashian!! I'm sick of seeing her everywhere and was glad my kids were in bed and missed that one. I'm not a prude, but that commercial really irritated me.

Maybe look at it this way, if that ad generates buzz that generates sales, more people in Motown will be working, providing more of a tax base to improve things here, making that commercial a good investment. A girl can dream, can't she?

She sure can. :thumbsup2

I'm still not remotely seeing how that M&M commercial would remotely motivate someone to go buy a car, or even leave you thinking about the car much less run out to buy it.

These kind of commercials actually drive me crazy and sometimes turn me off the product. If you have a good product, find a clever way to TELL me about your PRODUCT. I don't need a lizard or caveman or cartoon of a has been rap artist to get me motivated about a product.

And the Doritos commercial is a great example, that was just gross, it almost makes me NOT want to buy doritos, it certainly doesn't make me want to run out and buy any. :confused3 I think these ad execs are smoking a little too much .... something or other.:confused3

There are loads of commercials where celebrities do things that they don't know how to do in real life.

The weirdest thing about the Little Vader commercial is the kid who did it, once you see him without the mask. He looks like a tiny replica of Mark Hamill -- eerie.

BTW, there were 2 little boys in that commercial.

I liked the beatle commerical and the beaver commercial

I read that it managed to enrage both the Tibetans AND the Chinese.

The other Groupon one was equally ourtageous.
Elizabeth Hurley says that "deforestation of the rainforests" is good.
