let's pretend you bought a house w/a NASTY bathtub

The bottom of my bathtub was black when I moved in. It was so black I thought it was the coloring of the tub. Thankfully I cleaned up a bit before I used it. EWWW.

I used KABOOM! spray which ate the ikky away. Then I used soft scrub with bleach and a brush THEN I plugged the drain and let actual Clorox sit. The KABOOM! got rid of it but I was grossed out so I used additional products.

We had hard water stains in one of our tubs. I tried everything! I even tried scraping with a razor blade. I was at the point of replacing the tub when I tried Easy Off Bam. I sprayed it on and left it about 15-20 mins then cleaned with a rough sponge. My tub looked brand new! I was amazed. It is the only thing I use to clean my tubs now.

what kind of tub did you use the Easy Off on? I have two bathrooms ~ one with an old porcelain tub and the other with a fiberglass (?) tub. I'd like to try to get the porcelain tub cleaner ~ it's not nasty, but worn and dingy looking (we do not use it for showering, but I'd like it cleaner than it is anyway) Also ~ the fiberglass tub isn't nasty either, but it has areas that never seem to come totally clean with the usual cleaners.

I LOVE the new Easy Off BAM spray cleaner! It works great on our bathtub.

I think plain old sprinkle cleanser like comet works much better then soft scrub for tough stains. You may have to do 2 or 3 treatments with a mesh scrubby but that should bring it back to clean.

Try Clorox Bathroom Cleaner with Teflon. Foam it and let it soak a little and then scrub it with a towel. This product does an amazing job of cleaning through soap scum and hard water stains on my tub.

Call me weird, but the condition of the bathroom was high on my priority list when we were house hunting.

I don't think I would of bought a house with a nasty tub, because if I saw one, I would cross the house of the list. Bathroom and kitchens.....that is what a house is all about to me! LOL

Try Dow. Spray it on and leave it for a while then wipe it off. That worked on our grey, dingy tub.

The house we rented last year had a nasty tub. I used oven cleaner (EZ off) and let it sit overnight. Then I used the scumbuster to clean it off. Worked like a charm.

Did the same thing when I moved out. That house was MUCH cleaner than when I moved in!
