In an effort to dispell the theory that I'm just a SSR Resort basher I offer up this thread. The truth of the matter is I love DVC and want what is best for the future of DVC.

Lets list specific things that we think are great about SSR. Lets get away from the vague things like I just love the place. Go specific here because there are many great features of the resort.

I will start:

1) Gym and Spa - both are top notch. Gym is the best I've used at WDW.

2) I like the fact that they have 2 slides at the feature pool. Nice for the little ones and the oldies but goodies.

3) Quiet pool in the Congress Park section. Truly the most beautiful of the quiet pools and what a view from there.

things I like about SSR

#1 12 years (i know........but it is IMO it's #1 attribute)

#2 for people who like to go to clubs , it is close to dd

#3 if you do an add on now of 130+ points, you get free AP's. (not really what I like about SSR, but a nice perk non the less.)

#4 zero entry pool. I can see how for someone in a wheel chair that would be nice.

#5 large rooms, for those who go to wdw to be in the room.

Well here is what I like about the resort.

1 - Being able to walk to DTD. I said it before and I'll say it again, it drives me nuts when getting on that bus to go back to the resort I have to sit through PI and TL stops. So much nicer to pop over.

2 - I like being able to park my car close to my room.

3 - I like the decor in the room. It's more upscale which I definatly like!

4 - The quiet pools are even a bit more upscale with the spitting frogs - ha ha ha. Seriously though.

5 - The exterior of the resorts have an eye pleasing color. It's just pretty.

6 - I like that they have things in the community hall to do. Ceramics and even being able to create your own floral design with a Disney florist.

7 - Even though it is large, it still is so peaceful and quiet. It's very nice if you don't want to be in the hustle and bustle of everything.

Okey-doke, I'll play.

Let's see....top 10 things we liked:
1. the view of a fountain and a cute little garden from our room
2. the room decor...very nice
3. the proximity to DTD (which we weren't expecting to like so much, but did)
4. the ease of keeping an eye on our kids at the main pool, although we would have liked it more if it had been warmer (but that, as Kipling would say, is another story ;)). My DS3 is chiming in at this point with "Donald Duck!" If DS7 was home from school, he'd say "the slide rocks"
5. taking a relaxing boat ride to DTD and Old Key West
6. awesome pedicure at the Spa
7. now my DD5 has to add "the Artist of the Day board at the Artist's Palette." And I'll add flatbread instead of more chicken fingers. Now she's adding "Dan the Horse."
8. the friendly staff
9. the calm atmosphere
10. No one else will probably get this: but I will never forget walking into the lobby on our first trip "home" as DVCers and hearing Vivaldi's "Four Seasons"...great mood-setter, and I still get chills remembering how excited I was!

Thank you Shantay1008, that is exactly what I was going for, the liquids spit onto the screen response.

You have made my day!

Tony, I personally would have thought you were going for the liquid out through the nose response.

My first (and only) trip home (so far) was at SSR. And while the furniture in the room was not to my taste, I'm anticipating staying there again. I like the outside corridors, I like the horse theming (especially the famous Disney horse pictures at the Carriage House check-in), High Rock Spring Pool looks very inviting to me, I like parking outside my room, the pedicure at the spa was excellent. We didn't have an opportunity to take the boat to DTD, but that's got to be fun (and relaxing). And I just like to look of the whole place (especially driving past the common areas on the way to Congress Park).

Reasons to Love SSR.......

1. No having B3 taking up space at the pool.....(Joking)!

1. Spa...yeah Baby!
2. Walking to DTD.
3. Top notch fitness center.
4. Having a choice of pools, kids or quiet.
5. Love the overall upscale feel....not all cutsy!
6. Actually having a place to park. (hate waiting for my car)
7. Openess of the resort....yes I like my space!

1.The beds! So comfortable. The Queen and the Sleeper Sofas.

2. The Gardens. Beautiful. I actually stopped and smelled the roses on my way to DTD one morning!

3. The Community Hall and their Staff. These are people that if you saw anywhere else, they would remember you, stop and say hello. One CM even gave us a hug as we spent our last hours there before heading out.

4. The quiet pool. It is beautiful at night! Definitely the best view of any quiet pool in WDW.

5. The Spa and Fitness Center. Again the best in WDW.

6. The Views and water features. You will be hard pressed to get a poor view at SSR. They took care to ensure most units will have courtyard, fountain or DTD views. There will be some dogs, but I think the odds are better.

7. The Walk to DTD and the Boat to DTD. We always have a great time at DTD and Disney Quest. Great Food too!

8. The Turf Club and Artist Palette. I think Dh ate a whole pot of the Saratoga Chili while we were there. I like the libations and buffalo tenders.

9. Peaceful and Quiet

10. We always have a seat on the bus!

What I love about SSR:

Relaxing atmosphere after a busy day at the parks.

The Spa.

Furniture and decor.

The beds are very comfortable...even the pullout.

Artist's Palette - enjoy the different choices.

Parking near Villa.

Love the music by the pool and AP.

Golf.

The view of DTD at night.

Proximity to DTD for: Adult activities, shopping, DQ for the teens and most of all a quick walk over will get me direct bus service to all the resorts.

The extra 12 years to give our kids a chance to bring their kids.

1) the room decor, very upscale and soothing

2) menu selections at AP and the artist easel, fun to draw and eat!

3) being able to grab a yummy from Earls for lunch in minutes

4) the horse theme, I am "somewhat" of a horse nut, LOL

5) the friendly, go out of their way CMs

6) community hall, I just adore the ceramic horses DH and I did one afternoon, proudly displayed them in our china cabinet

7) the quiet pool at CP. Best quiet pool on property

8) rocking chairs overlooking DTD, especially at night.

9) the outdoor walkways

10) I love the little childrens area with all the pictures of Disney horses through the years. Just precious.

11) All the furry adorable rabbits that come play in the morning dew on my walks

12) Direct bus service, no sharing

13) The quietness of a evening sitting on the balcony, with a glass of wine, listening to the songs of frogs living in paradise

14) Saratoga Lager

15) park at my door. I'm at AK in minutes! No fights on whose going to walk to the car to get something we forgot unloading.

16) the turf club, great drinks, and awesome buffalo tenders

postnote: I really think the boards will lose something if Dave and B3 are not allowed to play anymore. I know I have taken their posts in jest, and enjoy the ribbing. Life is too short people, we have to learn to laugh, and be thankful we have the funds to own DVC.

Good one Tony but B3 isn't a SSR owner. He owns BWV and HH. Maybe he'll stick around anyway. :thumbsup2

actualy I am thinking of selling them both and buying marriot.

I did some web surfing today. Marriot has a great forum. LOADS of fun........

I figure that my vaction only last a week, but my posting on a forum last 300+ days a year.

1. The sound of the racetrack theme going off
2. The jacuzzi at High Rock Springs pool
3. The view of SSR from DTD

:cheer2:

OMG! I am going to be burned at the stake! Did I say Ale? I meant Lager, DH would disown me if he found this post! Yes, we just love the lager, and the pool bar has it also. I am so jealous of you having access to it up there!!!!

I think the decor is very classy looking. I like the colors. I think the DD location would be great for an adults-only trip (if we ever got to take one of those).
