Let the Prom Drama CONTINUE . . . . . . . .

A board meeting tonight?!?!?! That means you will be expected to spill your guts tomorrow, young lady!!!! ;)
Tomorrow!!!!!!!!!! I am on West Coast time, if Sheila updates us tonight I can be caught up before I go to bed:lmao:

Oh I can't wait....................

Speaking of idiot school administrators, I got this letter from DD's school regarding next years 4th grade:
BTW we get lots of stuff from the school with spelling, grammar and detail errors, this is nothing new.

Next years 4th grade will have 2 classes on Green Track, while all the other tracks will only have 1 class. We need to move approx. 25 students into Green Track. In order to help us with this process, please completely fill out the attached retracking form and return it to school by February 22, 2008.

Here is the formula that we will use to make retracking decisions:

We will begin with volunteers to change to Red or Yellow Track.

 :confused3

This letter went out on Monday when DD was out sick, she brought it home yesterday, I called the school this morning to try and figure out what it was they were trying to do and they were unaware of the boo boo's! Idiots!
I ask the Secretary to clarify, she puts me on hold and the VP answers (remember my favorite VP:rolleyes: ) She introduces herself as do I and I can just picture the look on her face when she realizes it was me. She gave me some excuse about the letter.....what really amazed me is that this letter went out to all the 3rd graders on Monday and no one has called them on it (I know a lot of parents review the backpack on Fridays) my DD brings me everything immediately!

So, it looks like I may get the chance to retrack her back to green, now the problem is they are adding an additional class to the green track and the teacher is unknown at this time:headache: going to the Charter Schools open house next weekend!

Whatever happened to proofreading?!?!? :confused3 I can just imagine how panicked the vice principal was when she remembered you!!:lmao:

Well, those unknown teachers can work out well, or . . . it's all a crap shoot! Could you request (insist) that DD be placed with an existing 4th grade teacher. They may do it for YOU just to keep you quiet!! ;)

Yeah, Sheila - I'm with Melissa. If you can "spill" earlier, this would be a good thing!!

School board meeting was a little strange. At least, we've never had one like it that I've been to before.

For starters, we had a consent agenda this time (never have before). Basically, everything that was on the consent agenda was approved without being discussed. :confused3

In the past, anything that needed approval (for me or the other administrators) would be placed on the agenda and then presented verbally so the board members knew what it was and to enable them to ask questions. One of the things I had to present last night was a contract. I'm nearly sure that a contract has to be acted on by itself.:confused3 I told DH that all I can do is send it on. I strongly suspect that the district is going to wind up being cited by an auditor in the future, but that's not my problem, I guess.

I suspect that this consent agenda thing is being done by the Supt. to distance the school board from the rest of us. I know that he knows that the board thinks highly of several of us due to having worked with us for several years (just like they don't think very much of a couple that come to mind for the same reason).

Before the meeting even started, I had a principal call me into an office. She was extremely upset. The woman who had resigned from the library had sent a 4 page letter to the board explaining her resignation. A couple of the board members made sure the principal saw it before the meeting. I didn't see it, but she told me about several things in it, and it was awful. There were all sorts of wild accusations going back years and years.

She said the reason she missed so much work was because she was fearful for her physical safety (funny, there's a school full of teachers, assts., and students who show no sign of any fear whatsoever). She talked about the principal physically attacking her and leaving bruises all over her (the day that supposedly happened, they were in the office along with witnesses who stated that the principal touched her lightly on the arm while trying to reason with her, and the librarian went berserk).

Just before school was out for Christmas, the principal tried to talk to her about the library (the woman was at work less than 25% of the time - no joke), and the woman went down the hall screaming very strong obscenities.

The principal was in the process of trying how best to handle it when the woman resigned. The woman has an autistic son and is a single parent, so the principal has always tried to work with her and help her because she felt like she was probably under a lot of stress. No matter what the principal did, it wasn't enough. I also found out last night that this woman has a law degree along with being certified in just about everything you can think of (challenged the Praxis and received certification). Surely, she could make more as a lawyer than as a school librarian. :confused3

That letter wound up being taken into executive session, so it wasn't made public knowledge. The examples that I gave were only minor examples of what was in the letter, and it included people from years back (before she even worked for us, so I don't know where she was getting her very twisted information). :sad2:

One board member did give the Supt. some problems and questioned him pretty heavily concerning his handling of the principals and the fact that the board felt he was excessive in what he was asking for.

At one point after several things had been questioned, he made the comment that he needed for the community to see that the board was supporting and not to have to question that. :rolleyes1 He had a couple of verbal supporters in the crowd, but, overall, the crowd was smaller than it's been being, and I don't think everybody was completely happy with him.

They were discussing a retreat and one of the administrators told the board that if they wanted her there, they'd have to work with her schedule because she has children playing in basketball tournaments for the next 3 Saturdays, and she couldn't miss that. :rolleyes1 To which one of the school board members replied, "With no disrespect intended, I have two part-time jobs in addition to my full-time job, and if I can make arrangements to be there, I would certainly expect you to do so." (This admin is one of the two that I mentioned before who isn't very popular with the board. ;) ).

Now, I can certainly understand wanting to support your children, but considering our current climate, I don't think I would have made that statement to the board. Surely, her husband (their father) or somebody else could have taken over for one day?

Supt. wants to use the school buses to transport students and parents to one end of the county for everybody to meet together for his "State of the School" address. There is some question concerning legal liability that may affect his plan.

Had one parent interrupt the meeting to protest about the school at the south end of the county and the fact that "all they want to do is fight over the gym". They finally had to stop her (she went on for quite awhile but never made a point) and tell her that she would have to be put on next month's agenda, that she couldn't just talk in the middle of the meeting.

I found out this morning that the admin that I mentioned earlier had put her up to coming to the meeting (I saw them talking together afterwards last night), because their kids are on the basketball team together (not a school team), and they're mad because the principal has said that he doesn't want them using the gym because it's not cleaned up after they use it. That admin also doesn't like that particular principal anyway.

All of the big stuff that was likely to create fireworks was taken into executive session after they dismissed the audience. I don't know for sure yet (pretty sure though), but I don't think the two women (new Business Manager and the Curriculum Coor. from Memphis) were hired. As I've mentioned before, that's going to cause the Supt. some problems because he sent the Bus. Manager to a confernce this week, and you can't pay travel on people who aren't employees. Plus, that woman has quit her other job and is under the impression that she has started work. :rolleyes1

I'll update when I know more...(stay tuned for the latest episode of "As the School District Turns". :sad2:

Thanks for the update, Sheila. What a strange meeting.

I have to tell you, those closed-door executive sessions can get school districts (and city governments) in BIG trouble. Usually, the only reason you do one is discussing some matter that may involve potential legal liability or confidentiality, which doesn't sound like what's going on in your community. Our local town council did that (constant closed sessions) and the whole community raised a big stink about it until they stopped.

We've got a mini ice storm here this morning. Of course, this is the day DS has to go get his hair cut and then to the dentist. Nothing like a little added stress, huh?

Hang in there, and Happy Valentine's Day!! Tomorrow is my birthday; not looking forward to adding another number, but it sure beats the alternative. :)

Sandy, I agree, very strange. I'm sure there will be more information come out today. I can't help but feel sorry for that accountant. She probably has no idea of what is going on (will probably find out today).

Be careful with the ice! We've had frigid temps here for several days. DD called this morning walking to a test and complained about the temp, and I told her she was wasting her breath. Her daddy and I have to deal with the weather and her horses several times a day! :rotfl2:

Have a great birthday tomorrow! :dance3: :cheer2: Since I have dial-up at home (very, very unreliable dial-up at that :sad2: ), I don't use the internet a lot there, so I probably won't be on here tomorrow. I hope it's a great day! :thumbsup2

I think I'm going to take off tomorrow to celebrate your birthday! ;) I've had to work late two nights this week (very late last night), and I've got a lot that has to be done next week, so I know I'll have to work late then.
I think tomorrow is going to be a mental health day.

Melissa, I can't believe nobody else had caught that very confusing note! :rotfl2: I hope it all works out to your advantage.

Happy Valentine's to everybody! DH is taking me out to eat and to a movie tonight. I suggested we wait until the weekend, but he had his heart set on tonight (which was part of what led me to decide to take off tomorrow).

Thank you. :goodvibes I think we're going up to Boulder after work tomorrow to see DD and go out to dinner there. Not sure yet.

Enjoy your mental health day!! Sounds like you certainly deserve it!!!

Agnes, Pam, Sandy & Sheila:

 HAPPY VALENTINES DAY:love:

Sheila: :scared1: Wow!
A State of the School address :confused3 This guy has some ego!

I have never heard of a consent agenda - I thought the whole reason things were put onto the agenda was so they could be addressed, not just automatically approved. :confused3

Sounds like the Librarian has gone over the deep end......4 page resignation, that right there is a symptom of someone who is not quite right.

The City of Sparks got itself into trouble over "closed door" meetings, the residents hired an attorney and went after them and won. My history with board meetings is on a small community scale; a baseball league, church council and the HS Booster club. We would never hold a "closed door" anything, IMO it is an abuse of power 9 times out of 10.

Public Education IMO means that the public should be privy to what is going on not just to what the administrators want us to know about.

Have fun at your Dinner and a Movie - what are you going to go see?

Sandy:
Happy Birthday! I hope the weather clears up so you can get out and enjoy your dinner with DD.

Not alot going on here - DS was up at the crack of dawn this morning on the hunt for a Charleston Chew for his GF. Santa put one in his stocking and she really liked it so he was going to go get her one. The bite size are easy to find he was looking for the full size candy bar.

I am thinking about taking Monday off with the rest of my family. My boss takes all Mondays off and babysits her grandkids unless her Son and DIL have the day off. If they have the day off then she will be here and I can take the day if not I'll be here at work and my family will sleep til noon without me.

Saturday night I am headed to a friends house where we are having a "pajama party" for my B-day. All girls (Except her DH who is doing all the cooking) martini's & mojitos along with munchies. Should be fun.

Thats about it - have a great day off Sheila and to the rest of you Happy Valentines Day!

What is in a Charleston Chew? I've never heard of it.

Your pajama party sounds like a lot of fun. I hope that you get to take the day off. I have the day off, but it's a cleaning and laundry day around here, so no sleeping in, unfortunately.

Talk to you later!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU

What is in a Charleston Chew? I've never heard of it.
It is a candy bar that is the consistency of a very chewy marshmellow covered with thin crunchy chocolate. My DS loves them and for Christmas I found him some of the full size bars at a store in the mall that carries "classic" candies.

Thank you, Melissa. You are so sweet!!

Has been a good day thus far, even if I AM working! :lmao:

We're headed up to Boulder later today with birthday cake in tow (dark chocolate!!!)

You have a good weekend!!!

That Charleston Chew does sound yummy!!!

Sandy, I hope you're having a great evening with your family. Hooray for birthdays! :cool1:

I'm sure y'all heard about the latest college shooting. :guilty: That made me think about the guy who gave DD problems at the beginning of last semester. I pulled up his MySpace page and found that he's back at the university this semester. I'm guessing that the classes that he failed last spring semester are only offered during the spring semester. If he passes them, he should graduate in May.

I called DD and warned her that he was back. While we were on the phone, she said, "You aren't going to believe this. There's his truck." She didn't think he saw her. She said that she would make sure to keep a watch out for him and be careful. I really don't think that he'll contact her again after the police officer talked to him, but I sure do wish he'd finish and get out of town. :headache:

I had lunch with DFi's mother today. We had a great time. She's such a nice woman, and we certainly share a mutual admiration for each other's children. That's really nice! :thumbsup2

Well, DD bought something last night that I'm sure none of you have ever even remotely thought about buying.

Yep, she bought a new horse's tail... :rolleyes1

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

She is convinced that Cisco (the horse she got for Christmas) has the makings of a great showmanship horse. She doesn't have time to work a horse for the riding classes, but she thinks she can get him up to speed for showmanship (and maybe run barrels).

Showmanship focuses on how well you "present" the horse so the horses wear fake tails to make them look really nice (kind of like a wig for horses - you braid the tail into the real tail). Looks like we may be getting back into showing (on a smaller scale). I can't decide whether to :dance3: or :scared: ! :rotfl2:

Yes, I have heard of those "false tails". I was in 4-H for 11 years, so I have seen competitors using them, although I saw them on cattle!! :)

Well, congratulations, I guess!!! Back in the show ring!!

I can't believe that jerky guy is back at school. Hopefully your DD won't have to deal with him at all!!

My birthday was very nice; we ate at a really great restaurant in Boulder. We spent this weekend putting together a stand for a saltwater reef aquarium and testing the tank for leaks. We should be getting the rocks, sand, and live water next weekend, and then it will take at least 2 weeks until we're ready for fishies.

The kids are convinced that we are replacing them with animals in order to avoid being true empty nesters next fall!! :rolleyes1

Talked to DD yesterday. She is now an official employee of the University of Colorado and of the NCAA - she's a tutor for the athletic department. Right now, she is scheduled to tutor a running back, a men's basketball player, and a woman on the track team. She did this briefly last year and worked with a safety. He saw her at the tutoring office and requested her to tutor him again this year, so it sounds like she's got a clientele already.

Today is DS's first day of lacrosse practice for the high school season. They "get" to run a mile today (timed) and do pull ups. Sounds like fun (not!!). So we should be very busy in about a month with games. I'm really going to miss all this when it's over. :guilty:

I cleaned our bedroom, our bathroom, AND the laundry room - and I even did it when I wasn't angry!!

Well, back to work. I hope that you had a great weekend. :goodvibes

:scared1:

Sandy:
How was the cake? And Dinner with your DD of course?

Pam:
Any word yet on the college acceptance?

I spent all day yesterday painting and removing and re-wallpapering (border) DD's room. It is now 1/2 wall of lime green with a white border with blue, green and purple circles all over it. Then we added some "WallPops" circles in the blue, green and purple.....she is thrilled. I finally found a comforter with the right style and colors in the new JC Pennys Spring catalog. It will be here on Thursday and DD can't wait.

Gone is the bubble gum pink sponge paint and fairy tale wallpaper border that had an assortment of bears and other animals floating thru the air past the clouds and over the snow topped mountain peaks with the help of a handful of pastel colored balloons............:sad1:

Every muscle & ounce of flab in my body hurts, I (along with DD and DS's GF) stripped border, masked off the trim, brush and roller painted, put up new border etc.......Advil is my friend.
We took a break after the first coat of paint was on, DD went out on her bike and GF fell asleep on the couch, I was on my own! DH was on call for things like, stirring and pouring the paint, helping me put up the border, etc............... We don't do home improvement projects well together.:rolleyes I am a get it done kinda girl. I read the directions and go until I can't go another step. DH who is an Engineer does not read the directions, does not get things done in a timely fashion and has to constantly come up with a "better" way to do things:headache: Plus he has a little bit of A.D.D. and wanders off...........................drives me nuts!

I asked him to help me do the border and his response was "are you going to yell at me?" and my response was "Well, are you going to do it my way?" he said "No" and I said "Well then, yep I'll probably yell at you" I only snarled once, it actually went fairly smoothly.

Strangest thing happened while I was painting....I got what I thought was a cramp in my left hand (the fleshy area at the thumb) anyway, it hurt like heck and then it was hard as a rock and by last night it was black/blue. This morning I am typing with 1 hand. I must have twisted, turned something that broke a blood vessel. It is really ugly and really sore. Hummmm, someone else may need to cook tonight:rolleyes1

On a sad note, remember the missing college student I think I told you guys about? Brianna Denison. She was taken out of a friends house a little over a month ago and vanished without a trace. The whole community has been looking for her.
Sadly, her body was found on Friday:sad2: - the weird thing is she was in an area that was heavily traveled by foot and car, where no one would have thought to look. My DH actually drives right by the field she was in every day as do thousands of other people. The search crews were covering all the outlying areas and here she was right under everyones noses. We are speculating that she was under all the snow that just recently melted. The cops still haven't caught the guy and this whole community is up in arms and the mood on the campus of UNR is one of fear.
We are hoping that the discovery of her body will lead to her killer, otherwise we have a serial rapist on the loose who is now a killer.

Well, that is my update, only took me forever to type this. Big formal dance this weekend, the kids are finalizing their plans and DS's GF is very excited! Me, personally I am hoping DS wins the random scholarship for his school. He has something like a 1 out of 12 chance......fingers crossed.

You all have a great day

Glad you had a great birthday! I'm really envious about the saltwater tank. I've always LOVED fish tanks but have never had one. I can't wait to hear about the fish you decide on! :thumbsup2

He saw her at the tutoring office and requested her to tutor him again this year, so it sounds like she's got a clientele already.

Sounds good! That sounds like a great job for her. She can work it around her schedule and not be as tied down as she was with the other job. She's obviously doing a good job since the safety requested her again! :thumbsup2

Enjoy it while you can. I know what you mean. There are so many things that I miss already (like 4-H especially).

I cleaned our bedroom, our bathroom, AND the laundry room - and I even did it when I wasn't angry!!

Mine's still waiting....:rolleyes1

Have you notified the Police and the University that he is back? Creep......hope he graduates soon and gets lost.

No, I don't think there's really anything else they could do. I'm hoping that the contact by the PD shook him up enough to make him stay away from her. It was enough to make him leave town, so I feel reasonably comfortable. Still, you just never know. I'm with you though, I'm ready for him to graduate and LEAVE!

Not only have I never thought of buying one - I didn't know such a thing existed! I was just picturing the job of braiding a horse's tail. You know when you braid someones hair it is on their head, the same cannot be said of a horse's tail :scared:
:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

http://hometown.aol.com/showtimetails/
Here's a link that shows you at least what it is. You braid it in just under the horse's tailbone, and it looks great - if you do it right. More than once we've seen people who didn't check it well enough and lost the tail in the middle of a class! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

DD got a lb. and a half tail. Cisco is gray, so that jacks the price up a little bit. This will make 3 that we own. :rolleyes1 Why can't we wind up with horses that can wear the same tail??? :confused3 :rotfl2:

The new room sounds wonderful, but I can remember switching out DD's pink room too. It was a little sad to know how fast she was growing up (and now look at her).

I asked him to help me do the border and his response was "are you going to yell at me?" and my response was "Well, are you going to do it my way?" he said "No" and I said "Well then, yep I'll probably yell at you" I only snarled once, it actually went fairly smoothly.

That sounds kind of scary. I've never had anything like that happen. Do you think you should have somebody look at it? Let us know if it doesn't get better. (Although that somebody else cooking sounds good to me! :thumbsup2 )

I'm so sorry to hear about that. I'm sure everybody was sure she was dead, but you still hate to hear it. I think about my own DD and the thought of somebody just throwing that girl's body out somewhere like the trash is almost more than you can bear to think about. There are some sick, sick people out there, and it's really scary. :guilty:

More fingers crossed for the scholarship. 1 out of 12 isn't too bad.

Let us know how the dance goes. I hope they have a wonderful time!

I concur, hopefully Mr. Creep got the message

I'm wondering if it is big enough for a shark, there is a certain superintendant in Mississippi..........:rolleyes1 Salt water fish are so pretty, do you manage the tank yourself?
The kids are convinced that we are replacing them with animals in order to avoid being true empty nesters next fall!!
Well, animals are generally cheaper (except the Princess horses who want hair extensions:lmao: ) they are generally quieter and don't complain about what you feed them for dinner. I'm not seeing any problem with the scenario:rotfl:
Talked to DD yesterday. She is now an official employee of the University of Colorado and of the NCAA - she's a tutor for the athletic department. Right now, she is scheduled to tutor a running back, a men's basketball player, and a woman on the track team. She did this briefly last year and worked with a safety. He saw her at the tutoring office and requested her to tutor him again this year, so it sounds like she's got a clientele already.
Good for her, some of those athletes need all the help they can get and if she can pick up a few bucks along the way, good for her.
Today is DS's first day of lacrosse practice for the high school season. They "get" to run a mile today (timed) and do pull ups. Sounds like fun (not!!). So we should be very busy in about a month with games. I'm really going to miss all this when it's over. :guilty:
I so know what you mean.....no more Friday night football. :sad1: DS is getting ready for golf season. He is not any good but he enjoys it although it really is not a "spectator" sport. The officials frown when we arrive with our lap blankets, stadium chairs and pom-poms.:rolleyes1

I'm really envious about the saltwater tank. I've always LOVED fish tanks but have never had one. I can't wait to hear about the fish you decide on! :thumbsup2
Piranah, I think they might be fresh water, lets see what would be the salt water equivalent....:rolleyes1 oh, I know.. ..Shark!
Lion Fish are also very pretty and they do sting!

You braid it in just under the horse's tailbone, and it looks great - if you do it right. More than once we've seen people who didn't check it well enough and lost the tail in the middle of a class!
Oh dear! The poor horse, how embarrassing:laughing:
Horseshowmom said:
DD got a lb. and a half tail. Cisco is gray, so that jacks the price up a little bit. This will make 3 that we own. :rolleyes1 Why can't we wind up with horses that can wear the same tail??? :confused3 :rotfl2:
You have a DD who can't wear the same dress twice;) why would she have a tail that another horse could wear:laughing: Are these tails made out of horse hair?

The new room sounds wonderful, but I can remember switching out DD's pink room too. It was a little sad to know how fast she was growing up (and now look at her).
I know, another milestone over and gone.........she has boycotted anything pink. She just gives me the "look" when I see something pink or anything pastel for that matter.

That sounds kind of scary. I've never had anything like that happen. Do you think you should have somebody look at it? Let us know if it doesn't get better. (Although that somebody else cooking sounds good to me! :thumbsup2 )
Called the Dr's office yesterday, ummmm we are in the middle of flu season and just yesterday the health dept. stated "epidemic" I can get into the Dr. in July! I'm thinking the bruising should be gone by then or my hand will have fallen off. I spoke with the nurse, she agrees, I somehow broke a blood vessel. It is not swelling and does not seem to have gotten worse, just tender and ugly. Oh, and I still cooked dinner..............

I'm so sorry to hear about that. I'm sure everybody was sure she was dead, but you still hate to hear it.
You know it is one of those things that logic tells you she is probably dead but no one wants to go down that path. Now that we know, we all pray she has been dead the whole time, she was gone for a month before she was found. The police continue to release information. Someone in this town knows this guy and is either in denial or disbelief. The police are very worried, this makes 4 known assaults and his actions are escalating. This town is crawling with media and law enforcement. The crew of America's Most Wanted is in town along with the FBI.

More fingers crossed for the scholarship. 1 out of 12 isn't too bad.
Someone has to win it, might as well be him:cool2:

Let us know how the dance goes. I hope they have a wonderful time!
DS's GF is soooo excited. She has never gone to this dance (THis is DS's 3rd time) and she is just bouncing. I am taking her for her hair on Saturday afternoon and my bestfriend is a makeup artist who will be doing her makeup after the hair. Then they are going to Jimmy Johns for sandwiches! I had to laugh, they love that place. This dance is district wide and about 2500 kids attend. Every restaurant in this town is full and most only take ressie for groups over 8. DS and GF didn't want to go to dinner with a group, they wanted to go to their favorite sandwich shop in formal attire:rotfl2: What can I say, the boy has class:rolleyes1

It is snowing AGAIN, just the other day it was 60, now it is supposed to rain/snow thru Sunday. Goody:headache:

So, DD comes home yesterday from school last night all worked up. We were sitting at dinner and with her we can tell, she was on the verge of tears. She told us that they had CRT testing at school and she was afraid that if she didn't do well enough she would not get her straight A's and would not make the "Principals List" which is the step above Honor Roll. Poor thing, I told her that the tests are not graded to go on her report card. She said they were told that the results could affect their grades and that they HAD to do their best. This whole testing thing is getting out of hand. The sad thing, knowing how much emphasis is put on testing is that it would not surprise me if the administration at her school said those exact words in an effort to scare the kids into "doing better". The school keeps getting the fails to meet standards assessment. We tried to set her straight and to tell her that her grades were not dependent on the CRT's, frankly I am not sure she totally believed us. I am hoping today goes better, they have testing all week.

Thats about it here........Hope all is well in your necks of the woods.
Have a great Wednesday - not so bad, those Monday holidays sure help the week move along

Girl, I do like the way you think. On a daily basis more and more happens. I can't repeat most of it, because it's told to me in confidence, and you never know for sure who looks at message boards. Suffice it to say, I still have to stop and shake my head on a regular basis. :sad2:

You know, I agree with this. In this case, he's a Prince horse (well, a gelded Prince horse). :rotfl2:

Never once have I had an animal come up and ask me about buying a new tail. Although to be honest, DD didn't ask me to pay for it (which was a good thing ;) ).

When I came home yesterday, she had her English saddle on him and seemed to think he was doing well enough to consider showing in English classes along with the Showmanship. Ummm, DD, you sold all of your English stuff except for the tack (saddle and bridle). Want to guess what she's going to be looking for next? :rolleyes1 (Fortunately, her best friend bought her jacket, used it once, and gave up - bet she can buy that back cheap! :rotfl2: ).

DS is getting ready for golf season. He is not any good but he enjoys it although it really is not a "spectator" sport. The officials frown when we arrive with our lap blankets, stadium chairs and pom-poms.:rolleyes1

Now there's something I've never seen! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

You have a DD who can't wear the same dress twice;) why would she have a tail that another horse could wear:laughing: Are these tails made out of horse hair?

They are made out of horse tails (deceased horses, I'm afraid :guilty: ), and they have to match the tail the horse already has (so they blend in).

When our Shetland pony died a couple of years ago, DH said (after we had buried her) that he wished we had kept her tail to remember her by. I told him there was no way we were burying Sugar without her tail!

I can't blame you for not wanting to walk into the middle of the flu everywhere (not to mention the lack of appts.). At least the nurse agrees with you. I'm sure if she thought it could be serious, she would have sent you somewhere. Hopefully, it will be better soon. :flower3:

More than likely, she died soon after she was abducted. Do they have any idea how she was taken without anybody in the house hearing anything?

That much law enforcement will probably slow him down, but the scary thing is that unless they catch him, he can wait them out or move somewhere else. :scared:

That's great of you to take her in and help her get "ready". I have no doubt that she really appreciates it, and they'll have a great time. Did she pick out the second dress yet (for the other dance)?

I'm afraid you may be right. Somebody may have told them that to try to get them to focus on doing their absolute best. You would be surprised how many kids will just blow off standardized testing. That doesn't make it okay to terrorize your poor DD though. In our case, we do all kinds of awards in different areas to to encourage them.

I always feel sorry for the kids who are really stressed by the tests. It's a fine line of encouraging them to do their best but NOT turning them into a nervous wreck. If I had to pick between the two, I'd go with putting less emphasis on the test and more on relaxing.

Hey girls!! Just popping in for a second. Work is nuts; that's what happens when you try and cram 5 days worth of work into 4 days!!

Unfortunately no flesh eating fish in the tank, only nice ones (sorry Sheila, I know you could use some!!). Yes, we will be maintaining all of it ourselves. It's actually kind of fun getting it all set up. Tonight we drain the tap water out of it and get it ready to put sand in the bottom. On Saturday, we'll add the rock and live salt water (live water is the water than comes from the fish shop's established 1000-gallon reef tank - you should see it - gorgeous fish and reef rocks - it's wonderful and the fish really do respond to the owner like pet dogs or cats - they follow him around the store and watch him as he moves). Then we monitor it for ammonia and PH levels for the next few weeks before we start adding fish - one kind at at time. I want to put in a clownish or two (Nemo fish) with an anemone. They are so fascinating to watch!!

Just wanted to let you know I'm not ignoring you. I will respond within the next day or so!!

Toodles!!! :yay:
