We had a great weekend with DD around. It was hard to let her go back to Boulder yesterday. And then, when she got there, she dropped her cell phone in the toilet!!!!!!!!! So of course it didn't work. So we had her take the battery out, use her blow dryer to dry it all out, and then let it sit overnight. Well, she must be living right, because IT WORKS this morning!!!

So glad you had a nice weekend with your DD - Best way to dry a cell phone out - put in a bowl of uncooked rice, cover and let sit overnight - DS did this a couple of weeks ago after he dropped phone into puddle, I was skeptical but it worked like a charm.

Oh no, just got word that one of my boss's son was killed in an automobile accident last night. I don't know the details yet, but he was her youngest and he was in his twenties. Gotta go, will check in later.

DS saw a clock at Target that has the words "Irish Pub" and a glass of Guiness on the face. He now really wants the thing. Will probably give it to him for his birthday in April!! Something for his dorm room. Can't imagine what his roommate's parents will think!!!

I was just adding up the current "extras" in my head.......2 formals w/Tux, flowers, pictures and dinner plus a limo for the Sr. Prom, balances due from all the other extra's this year: Announcements, Sr. Page and Yearbook. Plus graduation party, Safe & Sober Grad Night party..............Thank goodness we already got him his graduation present!
Poker set.........he can buy his own poker set, I don't even know if he knows how to play poker, not like we are all a bunch of card sharks!

At least we have the tv issue solved. DD got one for Christmas her junior year of high school. Took that to her dorm. Meanwhile, I got a new tv as a 15th anniversary gift from work. When DD moved to her apartment, her tv was WAY too small for the living room, so she took my newer one that was slightly larger (and "free", relatively speaking, if you don't count my daily slave labor ). So DS will take DD's slightly older and smaller tv to his dorm room.

J.C. Penney and Kohl's both have sales on bath towels this week. I may have to go and investigate!!

Thanks for the tip. DH had a phone that we had to throw away after it went through the washer. I know the wash cycle is longer and probably irreversible, but it sure would be worth a try!

I holed up in my room and watched the Super Bowl too. We were thrilled. Both Eli and his dad Archie played for Ole Miss. In fact, my chiropractor was Eli's chiro when he was playing at Ole Miss. He says that the whole family is really nice. Eli still looks like a teenager to me though.

I did feel sorry for Tom Brady. He seems like a nice guy too.

I went down to see my parents yesterday evening. Mother's neuropathy was bothering her too much to come up here. We had a good visit.

Now, I've got to call and talk to Northwest Airlines. When the other two teachers took the voluntary bump (they put them on Delta), NWA took them out of my online reservations. They didn't have any seats available to assign when I made the reservation, so I had to get them 24 hours before we left. She says, I always feel so bad for the ones that lose. I said, no reason to cry, they are paid to play, this is not Pop Warner Football..... her DH adds, yeah, they are paid more than most of us make in a decade, so no boohooing!

So, if I buy myself all new towels and give him all the old ones..............then everyone wins, right? I love the JC Penney masterpiece towel - we have a JC Penny outlet near us and every once in awhile, they have the masterpiece or whatever it is they are calling their hoity toity towel these days.

About 3 years ago, we went to visit my Brother over Christmas, he was still single at the time. We stayed with him but he told me to bring towels if we wanted to have any to use. I picked him up several of the masterpiece towels and took them with us and of course left them for him when we departed.

He got married for the first time a couple of years ago and we bought them their entire registry of towels (my DH loves a good bath towel) anyway Bro and SIL had registered for Ralph Lauren at Macys - I dropped a ton of money, bought all the towels, the rugs etc.........While there, I also bought us 2 of the RL bath sheets. My Pennys towels have held up better, stayed softer and look better that those stupid expensive RL towels. While visiting my Bro and SIL last spring she had the RL's out as display towels and the JC Penney towels I bought him way back as the actual use towels.

The Univ. told us to hold off on buying the fridge & micro until he knows who his roommate will be so they can co-ordinate who gets what (they cannot have 2 fridges & 2 micro's) in the room but I am assuming they can have 2 TV's.

Good morning everyone.

Well, I went to my first caucus last night. Sorry to say, Melissa, mine wasn't nearly as loud as yours. We Republicans must be a pretty boring lot compared to you Democrats. It was okay, but I much prefer a voting primary. I think the turnouts are MUCH higher. But I guess that Colorado required caucuses in exchange for moving the primary date up to Super Tuesday. So it was what it was!!

Found out a bit more about my work colleague's son's death. He was driving a car at 2:00 a.m. and failed to negotiate a curve. His car struck a parked vehicle in front of a house, then a tree, and then finally a corner of the house. The young man, who was 22, died at the scene. Speed was definitely a factor, and maybe alcohol or drugs (although we don't know that as of yet). This was her youngest; she has 4 sons and 3 of them have really given her trouble over the years. I haven't had the chance to talk to her directly, but I am sure she is wracked with grief. I may get to see her tomorrow at another luncheon for a coworker's anniversary - I hope I do.

We did find the perfect red shirt and black/red tie for DS's snowball dance. Now I need to set an appointment for him to get his hair cut and the tips highlighted. Sometimes this boy is higher maintenance than my girl!!!

When my Grandmother was alive she used to place her Christmas card from Bill & Hill in front of my DH's dinner plate. Everyone else got a regular place card and he got to stare at Bill & Hill while my Grandmother would sit at the end of the table and gloat, she was not quiet about it either! It became quite the family joke and we all still laugh about it!

My cousin who is 25 is very liberal, she recently finished her Masters in Journalism and she makes my DH nuts. They have great discussions which is fun since my DH is kinda anti-social and no one else in the family ever wants "to go there" with him. My cousin walks in the door with the "bring it on attitude" and they go at it(nicely) it is kinda funny.

When I was growing up my parents were split and I still remember the tension they could create over who voted for who. My Mother voted religion and my Father voted liberal plain and simple, I personally don't think either one of them were "educated" voters they were emotional voters but they did always vote.

My Bro is very Republican and my SIL while conservative is leaning towards Obama, my Bro is having fits. She and my DS had a great discussion at Christmas, my DS is convinced Obama is the anti-christ and my SIL who is a High School English/History teacher educated him on some of the issues. They had a great conversation while my Bro and DH sat in the corner and squirmed

Yet another point our DS's share in common funny how similar they are in so many ways.

When I took DS to Oregon State it was a very eye opening experience to say the least for the conservative kid from redneckville Their views may not be the norm for their age groups, but I think the advantage of college is that it is a bigger view point pond. My DH can be very adamant and no one wants to discuss things with him but my DS has learned good discussion skills and I think has started to learn how to temper his views without compromising himself. What is the old adage, don't discuss sex, religion or politics. DH and I have been married for 20 years and even we know there are certain topics that are off limits

Ahhh, but he will be surrounded by people who also know they are right all the time, it is a given for the age group. It is amazing that they manage to get along with each other considering not one of them is ever wrong!
I don't think my DS is any better at tempering his view point than yours and being right in all situations is standard operating procedure, just ask my DS who is a loud mouth. Remember he actually won Loudest of the Sr. Class, someone told me it was a landslide victory!
