Let the Prom Drama CONTINUE . . . . . . . .

Couple years ago we rented a cabin in N. California and as I was stepping out of the shower, I almost stepped onto a scorpion. Now, the thing is scorpions are not native to the area. We found the owner and showed him (it was under a glass) he said that it was not the first one found that week:scared1:

Okay, this is getting weird now! After being told that we would not be likely to find another one after the first one (and then finding 3 more), we left the last one for the owner to see under a glass! Are we all living in some kind of parallel universe here? :rotfl2:

they had had a group of fishermen come up from San Antonio just the week before and they think the scorpions come in their gear:scared: Same guys come every year and almost every year they left some sort of critter behind. It's probably the same people you rented the house from:lmao:

Before we left that house, we shook everything out of every bag just in case (it was us and another family with 3 kids) because I didn't want to take any with us. :sad2:

When it comes to weeds and spiders - I don't care, deplete the ozone, contaminate the ground water for the residents who will live there in 200 years;) :rolleyes1 just make them go away!

Guilty here too! When that lady said that they only used organic pesticides, I was forced to tell her (in as nice a way as possible) that she might want to reconsider her choices. ;)

Just popping in briefly :wizard: - I have to go change clothes to look beautiful for graduation. Not that anyone will notice me!!!

Thanks for the graduation well-wishes. :goodvibes DS leaves in about an hour to get on the bus to go to the Air Force Academy for the graduation. We'll be leaving soon thereafter to go grab a quick bite before we head to get seats.

DS didn't want a traditional graduation cake - he wanted a cheesecake instead. So I got one from a local bakery/restaurant. It's a very light citrus and is WONDERFUL. Oh my goodness, it's going straight from my lips to my hips.

We are having a nice visit with everyone here. DS got a good amount of graduation $$$ and he is over the moon. He wants to buy a good street bike to take up to school and this will start his fund quite nicely.

Sandy, I hope everything went well tonight (and I'm sure it did). The cheesecake sounds wonderful (as does the graduation loot! :thumbsup2 ).

Oh - the bear came on Wednesday night!!! Last year, he came the first time on June 30th, so he's over a month early. Luckily Wednesday morning was trash day, so there was only one small bag out there, primarily newspapers and non-edible stuff!!

I'll have to tell DH that the bear is back (he was definitely impressed last year! ).

And, we had 4-5 deer napping in a corner of our backyard this afternoon. Our "watchdog" Tundra was sleeping on the front step in the shade, so she was clueless as usual. That is - until a fox came in the yard and off she went on the chase!!

We have deer graze in our pastures on a regular basis, but I've never seen any napping. This afternoon, there were 4 out there. For some reason (probably boredom), the horses decided to chase them out of the pasture. They surrounded them just like cowboys (flanking and to the rear) and herded them out. They've always eaten together just fine, and the deer must not have been too intimidated because I noticed them back shortly thereafter.

DD was very impressed with the robot in the hospital pharmacy today. She said that all doses are individually packaged, and you just put what you want in the computer. Then the "robot" goes up, down, and/or across to retrieve what you've asked for. She said it was really impressive to watch (not impressive enough to make her decide to work there though ;) ). She's even decided to not apply for their scholarship since she's positive she doesn't want to work there now.

Horse continues to improve, so it looks like this antibiotic may finally solve our problem (fingers crossed here!).

I'm up late tonight, because DD's cat (who was adamant that he wanted DD to go to bed at 10 p.m.) decided to get back up at 11:45 for a snack. He jumped down out of her bed (loft) and then came to purr under my door. For some unknown reason, DH closed the door at the end of the bedroom hallway (which meant the cat couldn't get to the rest of the house for his snack). Guess who got to wake up and let him through the door??? And now I'm awake... Grrr!

Cheesecake! Did someone say Cheesecake? I'll take a bite;)

Congrats Sandy

Sheila, glad the horse is once again showing signs of improvement

Payroll day - gotta run

BTW - as predicted it is cold and windy.....brrrrrrrr

Supt. had requested a meeting with me, and I was expecting the worst. However, the purpose of the meeting was to guarantee me that my salary was not going to be cut (before it was just that he was pretty positive that he could manage it). The contracts are being prepared now (running behind due to new Business Manager having problems with the job). Soo, I feel much better today. :thumbsup2

:cheer2: Thats a relief! Next round of RootBeer is on you;) Business Mngr wasn't that one of the positions the idiot terminated?

How is the horse?

:cheer2: Thats a relief! Next round of RootBeer is on you;) Business Mngr wasn't that one of the positions the idiot terminated?
How is the horse?

Yes, it was. This particular Business Manager had been asked to present a workshop at the next state conference due to her excellent work.

The new one has tried to blame all of her problems on the old one (even said the old one deleted the budget - nope, afraid not :sad2: ). I've talked to the one who was fired, and she said that she knew what the new one had done, she had hit the wrong button, and it caused the budget to reset to the original (she said that it's easy to do and that she had done it herself - you have to go to the back-up the put it back the way it's supposed to be).

Anyway, the board had to approve paying someone to come in and help her straighten out the budget because she has no idea how much money we have. She's an accountant and supposedly has extensive experience working with school accounting - so far, it doesn't seem to be helping her.

She tried to get smart with the board when they first refused to approve to pay someone to come in and help her. They didn't appreciate it and let her know it. Then she broke down in tears. Basically, it came down to the fact that we have to have a budget for next year and we have to get contracts done, and she can't do it. So, we'll be paying someone to come in and help her. :rolleyes1 I think there's a strong chance that she won't be rehired next year.

Horse continues to improve. How about Nibbles?

It is kind of bizarre, but then again......what does one do with a scorpion found in a place it does not belong. It's not like I was going to scoop it up and set it free:lmao: heck no, it would probably some how find its way into my luggage:eek:
Guilty here too! When that lady said that they only used organic pesticides, I was forced to tell her (in as nice a way as possible) that she might want to reconsider her choices. ;)
Some of that organic stuff scares me more than a good old fashioned pesticide.
When I was a kid, my Grandfather and my Mother were both into gardening - organic gardening. Have you ever seen those big ugly scary looking tomato worms? Well, my Mother told my Grandfather that she read that if you plucked them off the vines and ground them up (yep, you heard right) in the blender and then sprayed it back on the tomatos there would be no more issues with the worms. They both did this........blenders scare me:faint:

Big bad mean horses;)

Cats are always on the wrong side of the door and don't care what time it is when they decide to get miffed about it

Yes, it was. This particular Business Manager had been asked to present a workshop at the next state conference due to her excellent work.
Idiot is such an idiot

The new one has tried to blame all of her problems on the old one (even said the old one deleted the budget - nope, afraid not :sad2: ). Any chance they might bring back the former Business Mngr? I love the way all his rash decisions are really starting to bite him in the hind end, but he messed with people's lives, livelihoods and reputations........idiot
Horse continues to improve. How about Nibbles?
Lump is getting significantly bigger:worried: DD is now done with her antibiotics but I haven't figured out a sure fire way to get them into Nibbles. I have tried a dropper, my what big teeth she has.......today we are trying to soak some goodies (cheetos) in the antibiotics. I might have to figure out a way to "off" the rat before we leave on our trip. My BFF hates our rats and while her DD feeds them for us, if Nibbles were to expire while we were gone, BFF would be faced with removal and I don't think there is enough vodka in the world for that event

How did it go?????? Funny, I was talking to a friend the other day and her DS who will be living off campus but close by wants a bike and my DS who will be on campus also wants a bike. When we were up at Oregon State there were bikes everywhere. Course it is the land of the tree hugger:rolleyes1
At UNR the campus is on a hill and per my cousin when she went she was ALWAYS at the bottom of the hill and her classes were ALWAYS at the top of the hill.:lmao: She said there was none of the Freshman 15, everyone was losing weight from schlepping up hill all day. Now they have a shuttle service.
Oh - the bear came on Wednesday night!!! Last year, he came the first time on June 30th, so he's over a month early. Luckily Wednesday morning was trash day, so there was only one small bag out there, primarily newspapers and non-edible stuff!!
Poor Tundra, did this just send her into a dither?
I also put out the hummingbird feeder this weekend and those little buggars are back "buzzing" our heads as we have the audacity to walk out on "their" deck. ;)
I bought one over the weekend, does it make your deck sticky? I was thinking of putting it on the deck, near the back door where we can see it from the breakfast nook but I am worried that I will end up with a sticky residue on the door.

Ahh girls, I hope everyone had a nice weekend...................you guessed it, I was cleaning!

We took the kids and went to see the new Indiana Jones movie on Friday afternoon.
Saturday DH and I ran some errands then came home and napped:cloud9:
Sunday DD and I watched the movie August Rush and cuddled for half the day while doing laundry
Monday - some serious scrubbing and organizing was taking place. When I painted DD's room awhile back we had not put everything back onto her shelves. So, we added more shelves and then got them organized and looking good. We took off her closet doors and put in hanging strings of beads.
I cleaned my bedroom and got rid of what must be a 15 year sock collection:rotfl: My goodness, I have never seen so many socks shoved into drawers. 2 large trash bags full - gone!
I also found all the dust that my housekeeper had been ignoring for the past 7 or 8 years:headache: and attacked it.

Today, I am narrowing down the family portraits......I hate these kinds of decisions, I want them all;) Oh yeay, I am kinda working also:lmao:

DS got his yearbook last week, his page looks great, as does the book itself, they did a really nice job this year! Friday was Sr. Ditch day and DS would not let me call him in, he wanted 1 unverified/unexcused absence on his record.:lmao: Kid's didn't do anything, the weather was cold, rainy and windy. Originally the plan was to either head up to Lake Tahoe or out to Pyramid Lake and spend the day. Everyone slept in instead.

DS is having trouble with his knee (the one he injured last fall) so he was off for another MRI this morning. Orthopedist is not sure what is going on with it.

In-Laws arrive in 8 days:scared1:

That is about it from cold, wet and windy N. Nevada. It rained more this weekend than it has in all the months since January!

Have a great day girls.....check in when you can.

Hey PAM: What is up with DD? Where did she and ArtGuy decide to go to school?????????

Hi All!!

This is SUCH a Tuesday - so much work to cram into 4 days.

I am just writing for a sec and then I have to finish a large case.

Had a nice Memorial Day weekend. Need another one right away!! :rotfl2:

DS starts his summer job tomorrow . . . NOT at Home Depot, but at 7-11. Long story short, Home Depot completely lost DS's paperwork and they had to re-key everything last week. In fact, they called ME to find out what position DS had been offered and at what hourly rate. Good thing I'm honest. That triggers the background check, which takes another couple of days to complete. And after that, DS would STILL have to go through a weekend orientation. Well, yesterday morning, DS got a call from the local 7-11 owner wanting him to come in this morning for an interview. Within 20 minutes, he called me, very happy about a job offer there. He'll be stocking the coolers at first and then learning the cash register, selling lottery tickets. I guess it's primarily day work. So he starts tomorrow morning! DS says that it seems like a good "fit" for him, and he really liked the franchise owner. It's been an odd process, but I'm glad that DS will finally be working - now I can get him out of my house!! ;)

I promise to write more later - work calls! :badpc:

All you can drink Slurpies would be the deciding factor for me!
Glad to hear something worked out and that your DS is excited about it.

It is kind of bizarre, but then again......what does one do with a scorpion found in a place it does not belong. It's not like I was going to scoop it up and set it free

:scratchin Well, in our case, DH and the other man actually stomped the little varmints (except for the one under the glass, of course).

Have you ever seen those big ugly scary looking tomato worms?

Oh yes, DH specializes in tomatoes, and those worms are at the top of his hit list (I'm NOT going to tell him about the blender option :duck: ).

Any chance they might bring back the former Business Mngr? I love the way all his rash decisions are really starting to bite him in the hind end, but he messed with people's lives, livelihoods and reputations

Probably no chance for her, but you never know (I doubt it though because it's a power thing - he knows they would like for him to re-recommend her, so he won't do it). She's basically hoping that she'll get her job back after the next election (which is awhile to wait since it's a 4 year term).

Lump is getting significantly bigger:worried: DD is now done with her antibiotics but I haven't figured out a sure fire way to get them into Nibbles. I have tried a dropper, my what big teeth she has.......today we are trying to soak some goodies (cheetos) in the antibiotics.

Well, good luck. I can't blame you for not wanting to fool with her teeth. The goodies are probably a good idea though.

Ahh girls, I hope everyone had a nice weekend...................you guessed it, I was cleaning!

I've hired DD to give the house a thorough cleaning. She needs the money, and the house needs the cleaning. A win-win proposition.

When I painted DD's room awhile back we had not put everything back onto her shelves. So, we added more shelves and then got them organized and looking good. We took off her closet doors and put in hanging strings of beads.

Sounds great! :thumbsup2

I also found all the dust that my housekeeper had been ignoring for the past 7 or 8 years:headache: and attacked it.

:lmao:

Today, I am narrowing down the family portraits......I hate these kinds of decisions, I want them all;) Oh yeay, I am kinda working also:lmao:

I spent yesterday afternoon interviewing (and booking) a wedding photographer. Considering what they charge , I've threatened DD and DFi that there had better not be any divorces in their future or they'll be paying me back for the cost of the pictures I'd have to throw away. ;) They've assured me that that won't be a problem (I told them to remember that when they have their first big fight! ).

DS got his yearbook last week, his page looks great, as does the book itself, they did a really nice job this year! Originally the plan was to either head up to Lake Tahoe or out to Pyramid Lake and spend the day. Everyone slept in instead.

Ahhh, yes, that infamous "permanent record".... :rolleyes1

Glad the yearbook was good! Sleeping in is always a good start to the day! :thumbsup2

DS is having trouble with his knee (the one he injured last fall) so he was off for another MRI this morning. Orthopedist is not sure what is going on with it.

How did the MRI go (or do you know yet)?

Hey PAM: What is up with DD? Where did she and ArtGuy decide to go to school?????????

You know, it's funny that you asked that because I was thinking about that last night (and I have no idea what made it pop into my brain  ).

Well, a paycheck is a paycheck. Let us know how he likes it!

It looks like the horse is going to be okay. Today is his last day of antibiotic, so we'll probably know over the next week or so whether the abscess returns.

DD and DFi (along with some other chaperones) take his FFA kids to the State Convention at Mississippi State University next week. Then she's scheduled to accompany our church youth (along with some others) to their Student Life Camp in Lousiana the last week of the month. Along with that, she's been asked to help a neigboring county's 4-H horse judging team. Soo, her summer is starting to fill up (she'll get to fill in at the drugstore from time to time some too).

I leave Sunday morning for the MS Dept. of Ed. Summer Conference in Biloxi and will be gone until Thursday night.

I was able to find a condo that accepts pets, so I'll be taking Chachi the wonder Chihuahua with me (that way I can be sure no traumatic events take place at my house while I'm gone :rotfl2: ). I carried him to have his shots updated yesterday, and the bill was $110+ (and he didn't even get a rabies shot because the one he got last year was for 3 years). His shots have NEVER cost anywhere near that much. I really wondered whether there was a mistake (and she didn't give me the print out like they always do), but I'm going to let it go this time. Normally, they are more than reasonable with us, so I figure I owe them money in the long run.

No kidding, those wedding photographers have a racket going.
Ahhh, yes, that infamous "permanent record".... :rolleyes1
I know it cracked me up. Hello people, the kid is 18, technically, he could write his own note (If I signed the thing letting him, which I didn't, but still:rotfl2: )
How did the MRI go (or do you know yet)?
Just got the results about an hour ago. Unbeknownst to me, the knee giving him problems was not the knee from last fall it was the other knee. He has some slight tear in some tendon with a really long name;) It's not major but it explains the popping and the pain. They are once again plugging him into some physical therapy. He has taken himself to all the appts. and I felt pretty stupid not knowing it was the "other" knee!
You know, it's funny that you asked that because I was thinking about that last night (and I have no idea what made it pop into my brain  ).
She started this whole thing with her DD and the prom dress. I know her DD really wanted to go to the Ringling art school in FL. and Pam was really worried about the outrageous price tag. I have been wondering where she and ArtGuy decided to go to school
Well, a paycheck is a paycheck. Let us know how he likes it!
yep! Slurpees could be a form of currency, at least in my world::yes::
It looks like the horse is going to be okay. Today is his last day of antibiotic, so we'll probably know over the next week or so whether the abscess returns.
That is a relief. Nibbles is hanging in there and with an eye dropper, likes the pink stuff!

Busy girl! Didn't DFi do that FFA thing last year? That wasn't the camping with a mouse incident was it? Or was that Sandy's DD - my mind is not what it used to be, it's all the fumes from the cleaning chemicals:lmao:

I think I would ask for a receipt. I know you have a relationship, but still if they choose to discount a service that is their option, they can't then later inflate the price of another. Or, it could just be a math or entry error. I'd call and play "dumb"
:rolleyes1 the vaccinations probably come with some sort of Fuel Surcharge

:lmao: Chachi the wonder Chihuahua - love it!

Starting mid next week life gets really hectic! at 8:10 pm on Wednesday evening, to be exact (that is when the Inlaws plane is due) we will have the graduation chaso and then we will be leaving for our trip, so if you don't hear from me, I will be back in the office on June 17th.

Sandy:
It's Friday! Any great plans for the weekend? Are you getting all the rain and ugly weather that gave us rain for 7 straight days? Unheard of in N. Nevada!

I'm still cleaning - last night I did the fridge - completely emptied it, scrubbed etc. Now there are like 4 things and some condiments in there.......Relish anyone?

Having carpets cleaned tomorrow and then I need to dust and oil all the wood in the house. That will take me most of tomorrow,,,,,,,,,
DS needs to clean his room and then the final sweep of vacumm, dust, mop and bathrooms and we will be ready for the arrival of the in-laws! Gads......
I also have to go order the Grad cake, buy cases of water and beer and restock the now empty fridge for the in-laws.

Okay, I need a drink and it is not even noon!

You girls have a great weekend:goodvibes

He has taken himself to all the appts. and I felt pretty stupid not knowing it was the "other" knee!

The poor child, his mother doesn't care about him... :worried: ( :rotfl2: )

She started this whole thing with her DD and the prom dress. I know her DD really wanted to go to the Ringling art school in FL. and Pam was really worried about the outrageous price tag. I have been wondering where she and ArtGuy decided to go to school

Yeah, that's what I was wondering too (and wondering whether ArtGuy was still in the picture - you know that inquiring minds want to know ::yes:: ).

Nibbles is hanging in there and with an eye dropper, likes the pink stuff!

That's what I've done with mine sometimes. Usually the ones who don't like to have it squirted in their mouth will wind up licking it off the dropper.

Busy girl! Didn't DFi do that FFA thing last year? That wasn't the camping with a mouse incident was it? Or was that Sandy's DD - my mind is not what it used to be

That was Sandy's DD (and I don't think there was any FFA involved! :lmao: - I think it was wildlife rescue).

:rolleyes1 the vaccinations probably come with some sort of Fuel Surcharge

Doesn't everything lately!

I picked up a pack of buns at the grocery store yesterday (granted it was the whole wheat ritzy buns, but still), and put them right back when I noticed the price was $3.85!!! :scared1:

:lmao: Chachi the wonder Chihuahua - love it!

The new canine is called Kodak, and he was a perfect gentleman the first few days. The last couple of days he has started bringing my newspaper to the back porch for me. Unfortunately, he does some chewing on it first. :rolleyes1

I've figured out what started it. I got a tennis ball for him (you could tell he had never really had anything like that to play with) and after a few throws he got the hang of it (would even throw it for himself ::yes:: ). It was after that that he started getting the newspaper. I'm sure he's seeing the woman throw it out in the morning, so he's going after it (probably never crossed his mind before).

We'll be thinking about you!

Here's the sad thing for me. I could do all that, and my parents would still walk in and find things that they thought needed cleaning (fortunately, they rarely say anything anymore).

Time to run for a late lunch!

Your poor DS. So will he be doing some physical therapy?

Busy girl! Didn't DFi do that FFA thing last year? That wasn't the camping with a mouse incident was it? Or was that Sandy's DD - my mind is not what it used to be, it's all the fumes from the cleaning chemicals:lmao:
The camping and hearing the mouse all night was MY DD. That was one of the trips when she visited her boyfriend down at the wolf preserve. I still remember how funny that was!!! :rotfl2:

Okay, I need a drink and it is not even noon!

You girls have a great weekend:goodvibes
You're one busy woman!!! Congratulations to your son on his graduation and best of luck surviving all of the relatives!!! You're one brave woman. But at least you get a clean house out of the deal!!! :thumbsup2

No, we haven't had the rainy stuff you've been dealing with. Although the Thunderbirds were supposed to fly over the Air Force Academy at their graduation and they couldn't because of the heavy fog that morning. It's pretty warm (60's) and sunny here, and I've been hot-flashing, so I'm EVEN WARMER. I go on my own mini-tropical-vacation during the middle of the day without even leaving my house!!! :lmao:

DS loves his summer job at the 7-11. Within a day or so, he had it all "down". The only thing that complicates him is when folks come in and ask for cigarettes and he has to translate their "slang" to figure out what they want. No one in our family smokes, so he's pretty clueless in that regard.

No big weekend plans; I need to catch up on laundry or we'll all be running around naked soon!!!

The bear came again two nights ago and left more of a mess this time. Tundra was NOT a happy dog. I gotta clear some space in the garage for that darned trash bin.

Have a good weekend, all!!

Pam, let us know about your DD and where she's going to school. Like Melissa and Sheila, I am curious!!!

I missed this! Where did the new doggie come from?!!? And what kind of a doggie is he? I love that he brings you the slightly "used" newspaper. :rotfl:

So what does Chachi think of him? Not much, I'm sure.

Have a good time on your trip to Mississippi. :goodvibes

The poor child, his mother doesn't care about him... :worried: ( :rotfl2: )
Yeah, that's it! When I went with him over a knee issue about 2 years ago, the ortho said to me when he walked in "and you are?" I said "His mother" and the ortho said "I never know so I always ask" gheesh, DS was about 15/16........

Yeah, that's what I was wondering too (and wondering whether ArtGuy was still in the picture - you know that inquiring minds want to know ::yes:: ).
I know I saw a post of hers awhile back and she mentioned they were still together.
That was Sandy's DD (and I don't think there was any FFA involved! :lmao: - I think it was wildlife rescue).
The camping and hearing the mouse all night was MY DD. That was one of the trips when she visited her boyfriend down at the wolf preserve. I still remember how funny that was!!! :rotfl2:
I just remember it was funny
Doesn't everything lately!

I picked up a pack of buns at the grocery store yesterday (granted it was the whole wheat ritzy buns, but still), and put them right back when I noticed the price was $3.85!!! :scared1:
I like to buy jumbo eggs - its an old Weight Watchers habit - an egg is 1 point, it does not specify what size the egg must be:rolleyes1 anyway, they are usually around $1.98 or so for a dozen. Couple weeks ago, $4.99 I about croaked! They have come back into the $3.75 range but still! DS brings home eggs from GF's house now since their hens lay more than they can keep up with and I will admit, they might be kinda funny looking on the outside (remember, me, city girl) but they do taste better than the ones at the store.

I too missed the arrival of Kodak - what kind of pooch and how did he come to be at your house? What does Tigger think of Kodak?
Here's the sad thing for me. I could do all that, and my parents would still walk in and find things that they thought needed cleaning (fortunately, they rarely say anything anymore).
My In-Laws do the same thing - and they point it out! It is frustrating, I feel like it reflects on me as a wife and a mother. I know they don't mean it that way but still........so I scrub and I scrub and my family thinks I have lost my mind! There be lots of drinking in my future:laughing:

Your poor DS. So will he be doing some physical therapy?
Yes, he and Gene the PT will be bonding once again. Thank goodness we have excellent medical insurance that allows him unlimited access to PT as long as it is under Dr's orders.

No, we haven't had the rainy stuff you've been dealing with. Although the Thunderbirds were supposed to fly over the Air Force Academy at their graduation and they couldn't because of the heavy fog that morning.
That is too bad, that would be something memorable. Almost every year the T-Birds or the Blue Angels come to Reno for the National Championship Air Races and since the airfield is practically in our back yard we always sit on the deck and watch the planes perform. They are amazing!

How does your DS feel about being "done"???

that might help with your hot flashes:idea:

do you have to use bear proof type units? Will a bear take on a large dog? I'm clueless but curious

That's a very good thing. Nice to have such extensive coverage.

They truly are. They spent Monday morning practicing over my house and up the Front Range for the graduation on Wednesday. Pretty amazing!! Cars were stopped along I-25 for miles so folks could watch them. The State Patrol hates that, but hey, what do they expect folks to do? Drive and rear-end someone while they're looking up at the sky?!?!?

How does your DS feel about being "done"???
Very happy and very relaxed. I went online and checked his grades and was happy that there wasn't a "C" out there. He was worried about AP Calculus. But all A's and B's, so he was relieved. And so was I. Not the end of the world, but the little stinker doesn't like the Calculus teacher and he tends to not put in a lot of effort for teachers he doesn't like, so it can be a struggle sometimes!!

He got some registration information for CU this week. As a resident of his particular dorm, he has to take classes in that dorm's Residential Academic Program. When he goes to orientation in July, he'll start doing his schedule then and have to make those class choices. I wonder sometimes how he'll figure all of this out, but then I remember that DD did it, so he can too.

That might help with your hot flashes
True. They have been so irritating lately!!!

do you have to use bear proof type units? Will a bear take on a large dog? I'm clueless but curious
I could buy one or DH could make one, but the trash company will only pick up the trash if it's in THEIR unit or bagged beside it, so the smart thing to do is just bring the trash in at night, which I need to remember to do.

Bears generally won't attack dogs unless they get cornered, or if they are out with cubs, and then they will attack ANYTHING that they perceive as a threat. And Tundra, in the few instances where she has been out and has actually seen a bear, has the smarts to bark furiously about 50 feet away from the bear so she doesn't get hurt!!

I'd have the same problem!

Poor Tundra!

I missed this! Where did the new doggie come from?!!? And what kind of a doggie is he? I love that he brings you the slightly "used" newspaper. :rotfl:

So what does Chachi think of him? Not much, I'm sure.

Have a good time on your trip to Mississippi. :goodvibes

Kodak, like the majority of my foundlings, is a mixed breed sweetie. He's not real big (probably 12 to 15 inches at the shoulder). He's black with tan markings :ewok: and is just as cute as he can be. He was abandoned at our church and needed some place to go. I begged DH into letting me bring him home (he sat in my lap all the way with his front feet on my arm and his head on my shoulder :dogdance: ).

Chachi actually loves him. He runs and plays with him, and they do great together (apparently, he's only jealous of humans and cats :rolleyes1 ).

I made it to Biloxi. The condo is really nice. It's cheaper than the hotels everybody else is in and has so much more room (and a W/D). There are nice walking trails around the lake with fountains, and I feel much safer walking Chachi here since it's a gated complex (although all you have to do is follow somebody in through the gate ;) ).

In this I am very fortunate. My in-laws were always (and still are) very good guests. They would never think of saying anything about my cleaning skills (or lack thereof!!!)

Well, I had to actually get very upset a couple of times before mine decided to keep their thoughts to themselves. I love my parents, and they really are great people (really help take care of the senior citizens who are older than they are in their retirement community where they live in Florida), but they are perfectionists to the extreme. I think I subconsciously rebelled!! :rotfl2:

That's a very good thing. Nice to have such extensive coverage.

::yes::

::yes:: And if something doesn't go right, he'll learn from that and get it the way he wants it next time (at least that's what I always told myself with DD - and yes, she dragged around a time or two and didn't get her preferences! ;) )

The idea of that is sooo scary. It terrifies me when we have a snake and one of the dogs or cats is jumping at it. But to be honest, I'm so afraid of snakes that they might scare me worse than a bear! :rotfl2:

Hey Ladies!
Sheila I hope you and Chachi are enjoying yourselves

Sandy, I hope things post graduation are calming down and that DS is enjoying his summer job.

I have been busily :stir: with a couple of threads the past few days....Sometimes people never cease to amaze me.

DS completed his last class about an hour ago and sent me a text stating "Holy Crap, I just finished High School" boo hoo sniff sniff

The in-laws arrive tonight, the house is darn near spotless, if my family would just stop eating, bathing and changing clothes it would be great. I should have moved them into the pop up camper last week.

Dust is running in fear of me!

The groceries are bought, the beds are made, the party details are wrapped up, the cake has been ordered and the beer is ready to go on ice. Now, what to wear to the graduation, this thought did not occur to me until about 2 hours ago. Given the winter layer I am still carrying around I am not sure what my options are going to be.

If it would warm up and if the wind would stop blowing, we might have a decent weekend. I will not hold my breath.

I hope all is well in your respective necks of the woods - I'll try and pop in in the next few days, otherwise I am incommuncado until the 17th.

Take care

I hope everything goes well!

I understand your sadness. I woke up this morning and realized that I won't be coming to summer conference next year, because I'll be finalizing plans for a wedding that will take place on June 6th... :worried: This next year is going to be rough! ;)

Chachi and I are doing well, but I think he's bored and wants to go home - think he misses Tigger and Kodak (when I take him for a walk, he keeps trying to get in the car :lmao: ).

Have a piece of cake for me and tell your son congratulations! :thumbsup2

Work is nuts - stopping in for a minute!!!

Melissa, like Sheila said, please say congrats to your son and I hope the time with the in-laws is good!!

Sheila, when you said that Chachi was bored, I laughed. Hope the conference is going well.

Talk to you all later!!

Thanks for all the well wishes:hug:

My In-Laws arrived last night - a little after nine
Here is an tidbit of the conversation I had with my FIL this morning - and you wonder why I drink:lmao:

Note, swallow all liquids before continuing to read J

In-Laws arrived……flight was about an hour late – got home, got them settled and fell into bed about midnight

Conversation with FIL this morning: it was 6:30 or so

Me: So, did you find the coffee?

FIL: Yes, I don’t like that Hazelnut creamer stuff

Me: There is Milk or Half n Half in the fridge and the sugar is on the counter

FIL: I know, I found it - Don’t worry about me

Devil on my shoulder wanted to say: So if you found what you needed then why did you bring up that you don’t like hazelnut creamer!

FIL: So, what do you people do for breakfast?

Me: Well there are bagels, biscuits, waffles, French toast, the butter is here in the French dish on the counter

Fil: We are light eaters, you don’t need to worry about us – is that real butter?

Me: Yes, real butter, (not sure if that was the right answer) If you want something lighter there is bread in the cabinet, there is peanut butter right here and jam is in the fridge

FIL: It’s crunchy…………………

FIL: Do you get the paper? I read the paper everyday

Me: No, none of us have time, I read it online

FIL: Oh, I read it with my coffee everyday and Grammie, she does all the word puzzles…….

Me: (note to self, get someone up at some ungodly hour and send them for a paper – everyday!)

Me: So, did you sleep well? (In my room in my bed no less)

FIL: Yes, but that cover was too heavy

Me: I was worried you might get cold so there is a blanket and the down comforter, feel free to take one off

FIL: Oh, don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine………….

FIL: Do you have any bar soap? All I found was that liquid stuff.

Me: No, I don’t buy the bars, it gets all gooey

FIL: Don’t worry about it, we will be fine

Few minutes later, Grammie comes down the hall FIL says to me, Where are the van keys? I point them out, he says: we need to go to Wal-Mart and pick up a few things, Dear, add bar soap to the list………………….

Okay, I go to work now…………………………………………………………………I’m actually headed to the nearest bar…………………………………..

2 weeks of this! Pray for me, I might have to kill him!:rolleyes1
