lesbians need not apply

If you are the employer and his religious activities violate your code of conduct, then I have no issue with you firing him as well. He would be violating the terms of your employment agreement.

Isn't discrimination based on creed illegal?

If I were king, civil unions would be for any two consenting adults, no futher restrictions.

But right now, all that's wanted is for them to have the civil right to have civil unions and be recognized under the law.

So where's the issue?

I didn't read anything into it that wasn't there, you clearly implied that your opinion on the matter was superior to mine because I'm not gay.

it read that way to me too, or more that your opinion did not matter at all because you are not homosexual. that would be discriminatory.

Hey Master, did you just say that so we would do this?:
:worship:

What can ya do for those Christian gays who want marriage, any solution there? :smokin:

Wait, is there not churches where if this was legal that would perform them? Like Lutheran ECLA?

SO why can straight people have pictures of their families? Is that not focusing on their heterosexuality and what their sexual acts created?

no. pictures of families is focusing on families. hanging a flag which symbolizes homosexuality is focusing on homosexuality. the person with the flag also had family pictures. homosexuals have families too.

Kinda marginalizin', huh?

That's how homosexuals feel too when being told they don't matter. ::yes::

Used to be this way for blacks 'n women, just a few decades ago.

No. I do not have to agree and I don't. You have your opinion and I have mine. As I said before, your opinion would be different if you were gay.

It might not. I am a woman and there are certain beliefs that feel I have no say in church matters such as the Lutheran...crap, I can't remember, I think they are Wisconsin synod? I still respect their right to belief as they choose.

No. That is not what it is. Actually, I know a lot of people who are gay and who also have children -- and they have pictures of their families on their desks at work.

QUOTE]

So a flag is a no no but a picture of my gay family is ok? hmmmm i don't see a difference. I think heterosexual people declare what they are all day everyday. It just is so commonplace that we do not see it.

I didn't say anything about a flag...I would be ok with pretty much anything so long as it was not intended to offend others, but I like it when people have pictures of their kids on their desks :)

We obviously don't live in the same environments. It's pretty commonplace for people to be gay and not hide it amongst the people that we associate and work with.

Now, don't quote me, but I do believe that the rainbow symbol is more than just focusing on the sexual side of homosexuality...more about acceptance, civil rights, and basic freedoms that all American's deserve...

But, I am not an expert on this. That is just what I've always thought when I see a rainbow flag.

Uh, you do know that gays come in many variations, yes? ;)
okay uncle...i never said every single homosexual person talks about sex in the kitchenette. maybe i should have said, "as an example...."
Oh and by the way, there is no gay "lifestyle," gays are a lot like straight folks, they worry about kids, mortgages, health, etc.

duh. i never said "lifestyle".

It still is, UR. We may have come a long way, but we still have a loooonnng way to go.

No I have said that many many times in the past.

For those Christian gays that want to be married, they would then need to find themselves a christian church that would marry them. In fact such churches already exist and perform such cerimonies already.

This is an interesting thread & an interesting site. Sounds like lots of people have a chip on their shoulders, hmmmm, interesting .....

Hmmmm...but would that give them the right to say, take time off under the FMLA if their spouse were to get ill? You know - have their union recognized by our government? I agree with you that I would like government completely out of the marriage business - but for the moment they still are and some citizens can't take care of their family if need be.

NO. It isn't. I have a company, we have a stated code of conduct. If your activites violate that code I have a right to remove you from my company. If my beliefs don't conflict with said code of conduct then there are no issues.

This was in the hypothecial of if we had good civil union laws. The marriages would then be up to the churches.
