lesbians need not apply

We could not make the same accusation if this were a hetero couple. That is where my point lies.

To the letter of the accusation, no, you are correct.

But I guess I am seeing their expulsion as more about the act (they violated a rule of the school) and less about the action. I would venture to say that anyone caught violating the rules of this particular school probably would have been kicked out.

No apology needed.

I do allow gays in my home, just trying to point out that if I chose not to... that is not equal to hate.

I disagree.

If I chose not to allow black people in my home, that would be hate and I would be racist.

A black person is born black, a gay person is born gay. Nothing can change it. So why would anyone want to hate someone for the way they are born?

As a lesbian, I can tell you in high school I was NOT watching anyone shower and change. In fact, even though no one knew I was a lesbian, I was afraid they would THINK I was looking. Just because I am gay does not mean I am attracted to every woman I see.
I believe you...

My daughter played softball through high school, and 3 of the girls were very open about their homosexuality. They are great kids, period.

But I would never think of telling other parents that might have religious or other reasons for being concerned that they are wrong or hateful.

You should be slow in assigning 'hate' to other people. I have found in life that people who are quick to hate usually believe that all other people are situated the same way.

Were they really good or just plain good? Alas, I think they could have been great! Is there a standardized point system? I think the Greeks would score higher.

:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl:

Why would I hate? I know firsthand just what it feels like to be hated and treated like a 2nd class citizen.

Why not? I've seen it happen. Heterosexual kids act out at a Christian school knowing that their actions will get them expelled, then their parents scream about them getting expelled. Then they go to the newspaper and talk about the evil Christian school who expelled their charming children. We had a kid bring the Satanic Bible into school and try and convert his fellow students to Satanism. His parents were shocked when the principal expelled him, and said that he was being discriminated against because of his chosen religion!!

I like kids, don't get me wrong-but I'm under no illusions about the innocence of their motives, especially not at that age.

We are discussing expulsion on the base of sexual orientation. Not draggin' the devil's book into the school building.

I do not know why you would hate.

However, do not be so quick to called other people hateful. That, in and of itself, is hateful. Do you not agree?

So you can read the thought of others? You know that a person who is prejudiced is also hateful?

I know a very pleasant family in Alabama (where I grew up) that is as prejudiced as they come. They fear Jews (:confused3 ), and don't want anything to do with blacks - but they don't hate anyone. Are they bigots? Absolutely. But there isn't anything dark and sinister about them. They simply don't know any better. They really think that blacks are less than they are. Sad, but true. :sad2:

Yes, I actually do, but like I said that is my opinion so therefore its just as wrong as your is (the one you have that God authored the bible). Since no proof is out there either way, opinions are allwe have on this matter and I will not debate it here :flower3:

You and I should sit down some day and have a deep theological discussion or two over coffee and doughnuts. :coffee: We seem to share many of the same viewpoints.:)

I don't see how we can separate the two in this situation. :guilty:

No, I don't agree. The poster was playing devil's advocate, so I was not calling THEM hateful. I was simply saying to not allow a gay person in one's home simply because they were born a certain way...yes, to me that is hate. I personally don't hate them for that.

Uhhhh...people should know better.

Are we really saying that someone who is racist against black is not hateful? That to think black people are "less" than them is not a hateful thing?

I say this gently-but I believe it's because the cause of gay rights is very, very, very important to you. Because of your passion for that issue, it's pretty near impossible for you to conceive that heterosexual students could violate the same rules that got these girls expelled and have the same exact thing happen to them.

I still disagree.

You can wish a gender, race, group the best, while choosing not to allow them in your home. Just cuz you choose not to allow black people into your home does not equal hate, do you wish them ill will?

I dont hate Jehovahs witnesses, but I never invite them in when they knock.

That wasn't my point. My point is that you cannot separate the fact that these students were homosexual. These students would not have been expelled for "seeming" heterosexual.

Yes. It seems to me that you do not understand the definition of the word hate.

From Webster's: a: intense hostility and aversion usually deriving from fear, anger, or sense of injury b: extreme dislike or antipathy : loathing

I don't see anything in there about prejudice.
