Well, that's what the articles said-the little boy who identified as a girl is likely to have surgery and get hormones to be a girl. Didn't one of them say that most children who are born with indeterminate gender end up having surgery to be one gender or another?
Like I said, I can see that something could happen to the baby during development that would cause development that just doesn't mesh, but in the end they still seem to end up as male or female.
