Lego Minecraft set? What does it do???

ok DUMB question, DD13 LOVES minecraft on touch and wants teh computer version for Christmas. I found a Lego minecraft set that appears to be sold out and a pretty hot item! I am torn though if I should give it to her or my nephew for Christmas. DD13 LOVED lego but obviously age dictates she isn't PLAYING with them anymore but does have sets still assembed in her study, etc. Does the minecraft set DO anything or do you build and just basically then admire it? What is the purpose of it? Is it a must have for a kid this age if they love minecraft??? thank you!!!

It just sits there looking cute
I got my dses each one for Christmas, they won't really play with it, they will build it and put it on their shelf. Its a mini set so its not very big.
