The Updated and All-Inclusive Costume Thread

After a complete debacle of dealing with poshmark sellers yesterday (who sent me an offer that I counter-offered and then they promptly declined it, deleted the listing, and relisted the item for $15 more than the original price), I abandoned my idea of getting some 2nd hand lulu stuff for my Cindy HM costume and discovered that a suitable tank (and matching leggings if it's going to be in the freaking 30s again!) on under armour's website that were delightfully discounted. I ended up ordering sparkle skirt fabric to sew my own because I could get 2 yards of each color shipped for less than the price or one already-sewn skirt.

I also purchased a UA shirt for my sorcerer mickey costume, and grabbed a headband on etsy from the same maker that I wore for my figment costume a few years ago; the figment horns were so light that I didn't notice that headband at all for the entire race. Hopefully she hasn't changed how she makes them and these work our as nicely.

And I'm just now remembering that my kids borrowed and then lost my good SPI belt that I usually bring. The one that has a water-resistant pouch for my phone and loops for my gels.

After some amazon scouring (makes me too nervous to wait for the expo), assuming weather is cooperative to wearing arm sleeves.. which green-purple combo do you all think looks more Dopey (top row or bottom row)? I'm probably overthinking here hahaha

ETA: Also to anyone wanting to buy arm sleeves ahead of time: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C4PJVFF/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=AO7N9N58LI47F&th=1&psc=1
I have them in teal and they're very comfortable and reasonably priced.
I like the bottom one. The top calf sleeves look too blue to me.

I like One More Mile's arm sleeves, but unfortunately they only have black or pink. Sparkle has sleeves but they're more expensive than I want to pay for them.
I did a practice run in my sparkle sleeves this weekend. They got hot pretty quickly. And a little bit itchy? I’m on the fence about them. I’ll probably have them on for start of the race, especially if it’s chilly. And then either push them down or completely discard if they bug me too much.

lmost a swim fabric) even though it was in an area that has basically no movement to it.

If this shirt is very fitted or stretches on you in areas when worn, I would be concerned about the fabric shifting underneath what is essentially a sticker and it coming loose/falling off. I would probably go with something that is more "lace-y" in design instead of a solid to help allow the knit to have spaces to pull that are not under the sticker. If you have a cricut and are planning on DIY'ing this, I would just make a few of the design you have in mind and then wear it for a test run.

Sorry for the really late reply.

THANK YOU!!! for this information it is very helpful!

Looks like it's going to be a sewing and cricut'ing day for me!

I'm working out the details of the decal I want to put on my HM shirt. Any strong opinions on putting the shadow on "love" to the left or to the right? Does it need a shadow? Does my word layout suck? Do I need some sort of additional artwork to go with it such as castle line art, etc? It's going on a light blue tank (ala Cinderella) with silver HTV.

I would bump the word Love down a bit, so you're not reading it "So love this is" as my eye wants to. OR play with the shape of the L so maybe it's more of a flourish under the other letters? I don't think it needs shadow unless you shadow all the words. You could do sparkle/firework shapes to do the i's if you wanted something more whimsical, but I think this in silver on blue will look nice.
