Am I the only one who thinks LED Christmas lights are unpleasant? I think they are so cold and uninviting. Just not Christmassy.

We have a three sets of LED lights and two old fashioned sets on our tree this year and their color looks exactly the same. They are a yellowy white. Are yours colored?

I personally refuse to use them. I just don't like them. The white ones are 'ok', but those blue ones that people are using on their houses just don't look like Christmas to me. They are allright for people who choose to use them, but you won't find me buying them anytime soon, lol!

We replaced all ours with LEDs. We found them far more festive, bright, and crisp.

I'm not a fan. My good friend has them (colored ones) lining her house/porch, and I swear you could see her lit up house from Google Earth. They are SO BRIGHT!

Not a fan either. And to top it off, DH came home with LED under the kitchen cabinet lights and mounted them under the cabinets to "surprise" me the other day. :headache:

The problem isn't so much the LED lights, it's that incandescent lights (the ones we all know and love) have a softer, yellowish cast to them. It makes the incandescents look warmer and "friendlier", I think.

Personally, I think that the worst look you can have is to mix LED and incandescent lights. The difference is remarkable, even if you're using white LED bulbs with colored covers over them. You still have that intense, pure white light to deal with.

I'm not a fan of the LED Christmas lights, either, although I'll take all LED over a mix of the two. The really looks bad.

My whole family cringes when we pass a house with those bluish "white" ones! But the multicolored ones don't bother me. I get that they're safer.

We tried the colored ones on our tree a couple of years ago, and after a few days, I had to take them off because they give me a headache if I look at them too long-it's a weird glow:confused3:confused3

Glad to know others agree. Last night I made a special trip to get some battery operated clear lights and "thought" I had. Came home all excited and ready to put them in wreaths on all the doors. Blue! DH thought they looked fine. They don't and went right back in the bag. I'd switch over to the multi-colored ones but I wanted to match the tree. Oh well.

It's a love hate relationship here.

The outside decorations that we bought 4 years ago that are LED, we still have and they look as good as they did when we bought them. The non LED decorations that we bought the same year, only lasted 2 seasons before they started to burn out.

So while the overt brightness is a bit much, the way that they last I love.

LED is the only thing I will use now. Threw everything else out.

Funny I found this thread... I searched 4 stores today for traditional C9 lights, and can only find LED's.

We are (were?) planning on outlining the house in all C9's, hang regular white icicles from the gutters, and only have LED (multi colored) on my Giant Mickey wreath and in the bushes.

I need about 3 more strings of C9's. Drat. I found some online but, not willing to pay $20 a box!!! (walmart and Ace had them for 8.99 but they are sold out I guess.)

I don't mind when people mix, I would rather see mixed lights than none at all!!! We have a family tradition of driving around in the evenings the couple of nights before Christmas to see all of the lights. It makes my kids happy!!!:cool1:

Really, really not a fan of LEDs. I think they look like runway lights.

Btw, I saw C9s at Target yesterday

Try Big Lots for your C9's - saw them there a week or so ago.

I don't like the LED ones at all. They just look "cold" to me. Our firehouse and police station are all done up with them and I agree with a PP, you could probably see them from space. :scared:
