LED Christmas lights unpleasant....

Huh? I'm not sure why LED lights are 'cold'. We have our house decked out in 'warm white' LED lights and they look no different than standard bulbs in that color; they're just more efficient.

Now, "COOL white" lights I'll agree with you, but that's a color issue, not an LED issue. They look BLUE to me, I'm not a fan.

I guess I haven't seen the warmer ones. If they're similar to the incandescent I might give them a try for "last longer" factor. I do get irritated at buying the incandescents year after year. I just will not buy this cold and as some said "runway" looking lights. They are an assault on my eyes.

Target always has a good selection of lights. I don't know why I go look anywhere else.

I wouldnt like them on the tree but we have the house done in colored and it looks really pretty! :)

Funny I found this thread... I searched 4 stores today for traditional C9 lights, and can only find LED's.

We are (were?) planning on outlining the house in all C9's, hang regular white icicles from the gutters, and only have LED (multi colored) on my Giant Mickey wreath and in the bushes.

I need about 3 more strings of C9's. Drat. I found some online but, not willing to pay $20 a box!!! (walmart and Ace had them for 8.99 but they are sold out I guess.)

Btw, I saw C9s at Target yesterday

Try Big Lots for your C9's - saw them there a week or so ago.

Hmmmm, I searched 5 or 6 stores for traditional C7s, but noticed that they didn't have C9s either. Not my local WalMart, Target, KMart, or Big Lots. Plenty of LED C7s and C9s, but not the traditional incandescent ones. It's not like they were out of them, either. I started to look in early November.

Finally found my C7s at a garden center, but they were expensive.

I would prefer the older lights, but we are all about savings. So LEDs it is.

Here's a great example of why I don't like them. Specifically it is the BLUE colored lights. The hue is too saturated. Too intense.

I love Christmas lights on houses! I don't care what kind they are. We have mostly LED in our neighborhood and I think they look nice.

Funny. I love the LEDs, especially the brilliance of the blue! I guess everyone's got a different view of what is "Christmas-y."

I think it's a lot about nostalgia - our memories of Christmas when we were kids. Our kids probably think the old-fashioned lights are strange! I saw a set of lights shaped and coloured like the old C4 or C5 lights, whatever they are, but they were actually LED inside - great idea!

My great Christmas light vice is bubble lights - not good for the environment, but they make me happy, just bubbling away!

Ah...that's what I needed to know. Naturally my store only had the ones that looked cold and blue. And we don't have a Target under 80 miles away.

The bluish ones are too stark. I'd love to find some good quality "warm white" LEDs.

Personally, I think that the worst look you can have is to mix LED and incandescent lights.

Yup - that's what my DH bought. Incandescent icicle lights and LED snowflake lights. Looks weird.

We are on the 6th floor on Saint Charles Avenue so it's pretty visible. A neighbor six blocks away asked if we had put up Hanukkah lights as they look blue and yellow.

My sister really dosen't like them. She needed new lights this year and was really unhappy with the choices out there. Since I haven't put up a tree in years I had a whole box of "old" lights I took them to her, she found three sets she could use and there's still half a box left ! She's 'hoarding them'!

Do they look yellow? I bought LED window candles a couple of years ago and they were definitely yellow, not anything like the old regular white bulbs. But I'm not sure if they were warm white or something else, and I ended up returning them so I can't compare the names.

we just got LED lights for our tree this year. multi-colored, LED dome lights. i don't like them much. they're VERY bright, and they cast circular, colored shadows on the ceiling. it looks like a disco in here.

I have avoided switching to LEDs until this year. I prefer white lights but don't like the blue-white look. I finally found LEDs this year that match the regular lights in our tree. We switched to white LEDs outside too and you would never know which were old and which were LED.

Can you spot the LEDs? LOL

Love LEDs! I prefer the "warm white" look over the cool white. That is my color preference. I find colored LEDs to be better looking than incandescents.

The other important thing to me is that the LEDs be "full wave" or "fully rectified". Otherwise, you get an annoying flickering quality to them. I had a strand that used to do that and it drove me crazy. Once I figured out why, I stopped buying that kind.
