LED Christmas lights unpleasant....

I have avoided switching to LEDs until this year. I prefer white lights but don't like the blue-white look. I finally found LEDs this year that match the regular lights in our tree. We switched to white LEDs outside too and you would never know which were old and which were LED.

Can you spot the LEDs? LOL

I did spot the Mickey snow globe!!:thumbsup2

I have to admit I am not a fan of blue Christmas lights, or clear ones for that matter, no matter what kind of bulb.

I like LED lighting of all sorts, not just Christmas.

They're brighter and use less energy, plus they'll almost never go out.

The price for home bulbs needs to come down though. Once it does, I'll be replacing all my light bulbs with LEDs.

Inside on the tree I definitely like the warm tones from "normal" incandescent.

I do like the Cool white LED outside. The reason is that it reminds me of the purplish cast you get on new fallen snow during a full moon. And in Central Texas, that just doesn't happen.

Dh bought some colored LED's to decorate the outside of our house and I can't stand them :headache: It looks like we have neon lights in our yard and I agree with the pp's who've said they look cold. I knew I didn't like them before he bought them because I've seen them in other yards, but LED is basically all you can buy now.

Do they look yellow? I bought LED window candles a couple of years ago and they were definitely yellow, not anything like the old regular white bulbs. But I'm not sure if they were warm white or something else, and I ended up returning them so I can't compare the names.

Nope, ours are white, no hint of yellow. :thumbsup2

I love the LED's. We have the colored ones on our trees inside. Two small trees outside have the LED warm white lights, but they still look "white", thank goodness. In contrast our snowman outside still has the old non-LED lights, and he's "yellow"...looks like the dog pee'd on him! Can't wait to replace those.

We replaced all ours with LEDs. We found them far more festive, bright, and crisp.
Agreed. Particularly the blue ones!

If you don't like LEDs, you can buy incandescents online; you're not at the mercy of your box store.

Love LED's. The color is fine with me. Love that they draw minimal current, no seeing any increase in the electric bill!!!

just saw a tree with blue-white LED lights. Hideous. Plus the lights were huge! I like small lights.

No I don't think they look Christmassy at all! The white & warm white were fine but give me good old traditional fairy lights over LEDs anyway! I'm currently trying to hint down 800 traditional fairy lights for my tree as they all went bar 240 last year! Wish me luck as they are pretty rare in the uk at the moment!

They give me a migraine. Only way I'd buy them is if they didn't make traditional one anymore.

Oh and don't get me started on the whole mixing of the two. Biggest. Pet. Peeve. EVER!
