Going there for my birthday next month. Read on another post the menu changed on 8/20...anyone been there since the change? What's on the new menu?

Also would like to know! Have been hearing various things from other places to eat. From items cut, to smaller servings.... :sunny:

Ate there 08/ 23. Definitely smaller portions. My 10 oz steak with yukon potatoes, sauteed leeks and frissee arrived with very few potatoes and a mountain of frissee. When I questioned my server as to the whereabouts of the leeks I was told they were in the potatoes. When I said that the potatoes could not have hidden a speck of dust, she said that she would tell the chef. We were not on free dining, but I know that Disney dining is no longer what it was. They may have drawn in the crowds looking for a 'free' meal , but they sure as heck have lost their reputation.

We just ate there this past Chrsitmas and it was GREAT and very filling. I hope nothing has changed that much, I am looking foward to having my birthday dinner there next month!

Okay, the June 2006 menu doesn't say anything about leeks... but it DOES call this a 14 oz steak - so yeah, it sounds like a HUGE downsizing on the portions! I wonder if the filet is now a quarter-pounder...

Do the prices stay the same I wonder?
I've always loved LC but if they're decreasing the portion while keeping the same price I might have to find a new favorite.
I mean I love disney but I don't want to be taken for a ride either... :(

Does anyone really think that Le Cellier is selling a 10 oz. steak and calling it a 14 oz. steak? I dont think so... It seems to me to be confusion with what was ordered...

Well, IMHO :stir:,
the people on these boards who have been constantly complaining that "there is too much food" with the DDP have gotten their wish and the portions are decreasing:mad:. And as so often happens when portion/size decreases, the price usually stays the same:sad1:. We shall see - we journey to the world on 9/15.

Just an observation here:

All restaurants pay attention to wasted food. Whether in Disneyworld or not.

I find it interesting that the portion sizes used to be considered "too much food" and now they are considered "not enough".

Being a business, if a resteraunt feels that the portion size is too big for the meals they are offering and see a lot of food going to waste, they will typically reduce the portion size of the meal ( and keep it at the same price ). It is just the way the business works. Dining plan or not.

Beat me to the punch... :rotfl2:

Just curious on the steak with frisee: Have the leeks replaced the soft roasted garlic, or are the garlics still in it?

I'm also curious if it's still served with an ample amount of veal demi-glace, or have they scrapped that, too?

Thank goodness I figured out a way to replicate this meal at home -- although, frisee can be way hard to find on its own :)

Good point - look at all the consumer items (e.g. laundry detergent, coffee) that get downsized by manufacturers but no corresponding price reduction...

:wave2: We ate there on 8/20 and there was a new menu. The only difference seemed to be in the appetizers and the desserts--the main course meals were the same (from what I can remember of the old menu on allears). We had never eaten here before and for the most part enjoyed our meal. I tried one of the new appetizers crab with marscapone cheese and smoked salmon as did many at our table (they were 12 of us) and it was awful, very little smoked salmon and the the crab was mixed up in the cheese so that you could not taste it. Five people ordered this at my table and all sent it back. So I got the cheese soup instead which was fine but did not live up to the hype I'd read about but the pretzel bread was amazing. I had the mushroom fillet which was very good, tender (though I think I should have ordered it medium rare instead of just medium-just some times it comes too rare), the risotto was creamy and delicious. Many of the men got the 14oz steak and it looked big to me. I had the creme brule sampler (included regular and maple) and loved it. I tried my Dh blueberry cobbler with blueberry ice cream (can't remember what exactly it was called) but it was wonderful too.

We ate at Le Cellier on 8/23. The entree menu did not seem to change, but I will echo that some of the appetizers were a bit different than what had been previously posted. I ordered the 14 oz NY strip. This was the third NY strip I had ordered on our trip (Tonys town Square and Spoodles being the other two). The Le Cellier steak was by far the biggest (and best tasting). Whether or not it was actually 14 oz. I couldn't say. It was filling and delicious, though. The portion of potatoes was small, but adequate. There was a token sampling of the leeks.
