I'm saying she was being judgemental and being judged does not make people feel welcome.
It's out of line for her to share information information about how specific students perform with you, especially because there's no reason to do it other than to be judgemental.

You have no clue how the conversation went. You have no idea if she was being judgemental. You are just jumping in here to throw in the usual digs.

They could have been having a conversation about parental involvement and she used this student as an example. That doesn’t mean she was judging anyone. She was just stating facts.

She made the same observation EVERY educator has made at multiple points in their career: involved parents = successful students. It’s not exactly earth-shattering news to those of us outside education, nor is it even anything with which anyone on here disagrees.

Look, you don’t know anything about my sister. And while I know you’d happily walk through fire if it provided even the slightest opportunity to insult ME, I will kindly ask you to leave my family out of it.

I know your sister shared information about the current (at the time current) and past performances of specific students with you. It's one thing to have a generalized discussion about the importance of parental involvement, it's completely different to talk about specific students.
It's unprofessional. Don't bring it up if you don't want anyone questioning it.

Of course she was judging. He stated she only brought up the inner city kids. If it wasn't judgemental she wouldn't have singled then out.
I doubt very much posters here would be happy to find out people with access to their kids records were talking about them, especially in a way that identified them, to people who have no need to know.

Life’s too short to have an empty ignore list. Goodnight, goodbye, and good riddance.

Your choice to see the kneeling as an insult to LEOs and veterans. Good job being manipulated by right wing media.

"my choice"? lol. So no cops or soldiers/veterans were offended? I don't watch so called right wing media by the way.

lol, Let's not be ridiculous.

Okay, or the Cardinals, Bears, Vikings, Bengals or Jets. Or Eagles. I don't think any players on those teams have refused to stand for the N. anthem.

I'm sure somewhere somehow somebody is offended by something said or done by another.
I know several 'Nam era vets who don't care as long as an announcer sez "Play ball" in whatevah parlance, the Barcalounger isn't occupied, and there is cold beer in the mini fridge next to them.

Over-generalization is at the root of many a problem;).

I've seen Veterans on both sides of the issue. I'm glad that they speak up whatever their opinion is.

That would be about as lowlife as being part of a sidewalk alumni.....

sidewalk alumni.....

Had to look this up.

Holy crap. I didn't know college sports teams had "you aren't a real fan" culture. You'd think a college team would want people to spend money on their team, even if they didn't go to that school.

The schools in question don't make such a distinction.

I remain just as ignorant about LeBron James, basketball and the merits/drawbacks of the efforts to open this school as I was on page one. I look at it this way, if this is an empty attempt to make a celebrity feel good/look good it won't have longevity, so not much to worry about. If the protocols and procedures are well intended but don't pan out as planned, presumably they can and will be tweaked. If the ideas overall are simply so wrong headed, judging by this thread it seems the high profile and high emotions will generate enough motivation to pursue an alternative option with a mission to correct what is viewed as a misdirection in this option.

Overall I still think it's better odds to bet on this having some potential to bring a little bit of positive energy and momentum into the world. Is doing nothing/venturing nothing really a path to gaining anything?

My former soldier hubby was not offended. Nor would he let some troublemakers manipulate him into thinking he should be offended.

I have several service members and LEO in the family. While "offended" isn't the word I would used, let's just say they turned off the NFL. The service members all said "well, we fought for them to have that right, but I have the right not to watch their disrespect".

Not picking a side, just pointing out that not all service members or LEOs are going to be of the same opinion no more than any other section of the population.
