We are leaving on Wed and plan to go to MGM on Thurs - we have ps at sci fi for lunch and want to see Fantasmic!...however, it does not seem we can spend a whole day there and not be bored -- seems in the past we are done around 3pm -- what would your strategy be if you wanted to see Fantasmic? Also, we are staying at the Sheraton Vistana and have a rental vehicle.

Would you go to another park (ideas - FW or AK) in the morning and show up at MGM for Sci-Fi lunch?

Would you go early to MGM, leave and come back for the show (that seems pretty time-consuming to me)

Would you just stay there all day long?

Would you show up late morning?

Thanks.

Need a few details of those in your party, how many, what ages & genders?
I would show up just in time for your ps & then stay until Fantasmic. There is definately enough for a half day, including the parade.

Are you going during peak or non peak times? We always tend to go to AK in the AM and head to MGM when we are done there. If it is adults this should be good, because you won't be exhausted like little ones.
If you plan on needing to be at MGM all day, than I am SURE you could stretch out your day. Maybe arrive a little later than normal (sleep in...yeah right ;) ) and then head over to the park for a half day. This works if you have kids.
If you are going during non peak, and on a wed it shouldnt be busy at animal or MGM (early entry is at Epcot Wed).

To "not stay bored" catch up on some shows you haven't seen before, or maybe stroll through Honey I shrunk the Kids (DH and I don't have kids and always enjoy passing through here, to watch others play and to cool off;) ). Last year we were able to watch Beauty and the Beast and it was a great show- something we passed on two years ago during our first trip.

We take our time and enjoy the details Disney parks offer. This helps to stretch the time for us. Good luck, and let us know what you decide.

You do everything in MGM and are done by 3? wow. We've never got finished by 3, or ever got bored there and we go in January when its not crowded. We always have to do ToT and RnR a few times in a row. Then we see Beauty & the Beast. Make sure you see the preshow...those guys are good! We do Indiana Jones, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, back lot tour, star tours, great movie ride, muppets 3-d, did play house disney last year, we always have to go in honey i shrunk the kids playground, Who wants to be a millionaire... We walk thru the city streets, and go find the raining umbrella!! We watch the street shows, get those nasty turkey legs ( a must do for my 2 DD's) watch the parade and walk around getting characters pictures and autographs. Walk by the outside of Indiana Jones and tug on the rope that says 'do not pull' !! We always make MGM at least a 1 & a half day park. What does your family like to do at MGM? And not do for that matter. There are some things there we havent done yet too.

Our must do's at MGM are ToT and RnR coaster, Beauty and the Beast Show and the Parade. It's our favorite parade. It was at 3:30 in July. Our kids also love the Honey...play ground and there are lots of characters around.

I don't know what time Fantasmic is when you are there, but you could easily take the boat over to Epcot from MGM. Since you will probably have a big lunch, you might want to grab a small dinner or snacks at the World Showcase counter service places. You could also walk to the Boardwalk, then to Epcot if Fantasmic is later in the evening and take in the carnival activities. From the Boardwalk you also could walk to the miniature golf place.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions - we will be there this Thursday and i have a 10 and 11 yr old - i think my wife and daughter may try the rollercoaster and possibly TOT although in 5 prior trips they have not done either.

i think we may just try and stick it out - we had ps for 50's ptc for dinner but after looking at the menu, i think we may switch to mama melrose - we have done ptc before but never mama m, so it should be fun to try something new...

i think timewise it does make sense to stay there all day - thanks for the advice!

Jim

Pan's Dad,

I am glad you have made a decision. I am also thinking that Frances has something to do with that as well. What ever happens, I hope you and your family have a safe and happy time!
