Well, this time tomorrow I will be arriving in London for a 6 day mini vacation. I am already anticipating the temptations that await me and I need your thoughts and ideas on how to resist them. I always have the hardest time when I am away from home making healthy choices. I know it is part of life, I just haven't figured out how to handle it, every vacation I go on, which seems to be a lot, sets me back a couple of pounds....ugh!

Help!

Hey, Debbi!

Well, if I were you (and I wish I were!!!), I'd have a little bit of this and a little bit of that and just walk and walk as much as I could.

I am a scone-aholic, so I'd make sure to have a nice cup of tea and a big old scone with cream and strawberry jam!!! :)

I think if you try to have a "light" breakfast and something small for lunch (like a scone, ha ha!) then order what you like for dinner and try to stop eating when you feel FULL, then you'll be ok!

We were in England for 2 weeks and I only gained like 2-3 pounds, I think. We walked ALOT, which I know helped greatly! And you know what? After a few days back on WW that weight dropped right off, so as long as you get right back on plan after you get back to Italy, any gain you MIGHT have will just zip away!

ENJOY yourself! Don't think of it as cheating - you are taking advantage of an opportunity to try new things!!! ::yes::

I just wanted to say "Have a great trip"!! Sounds like a lot of fun...take lots of pictures so I can see what London looks like...I am sure I will never get over there! LOL

Hugs and have fun! :)

Travel is always tough. Maybe just try lots of things, but don't finish anything! If you're going with a friend or family, split things so you be tempted to have to finish it yourself. Split meals.

Have a great time, TL! Cheers!

All I can say is keep away from the fish and chips, those things are lethal!!! :teeth: I agree with TigH, just sample a bit of everything and stop eating when you feel full. Try and remember to drink lots of water and that should help. I'm sure that you'll be doing a lot of walking, so you will probably walk off any weight gain. Hope that you have a great trip and the weather is kind to you :sunny:

Sending *~*~PD~*~* your way! Vacations can be tough. You can do it. Drink lots of tea, and steer clear of the ALE! (Personally, I'd have much more trouble living in Italy, than visiting England, when it comes to gaining weight!) You have fun, and let us know all about it when you return!

Keep the Faith!
Tracy

Everyone has offered excellent suggestions. You are right, this is all part of life. You make the choice to have some fun as you should! Now, as Atkins put it in his early edition of his famous book--ration your poison. You can have some, just not a lot.
Water, Walk, and Journal each day. You will see how you can make better choices and still have fun.
If it doesn't work, let it go and get back on when you get back. Life will have some ups and downs you already know that. Make sure that you get back and continue on with the good choices.

Have a great time, I will be thinking of you enjoying yourself.
