Leaving in 13 days - help me prepare for the weather

Hi there,
We will be at Pop Century from 1/11 - 1/17. I saw the weather forecast for the beginning of our trip and I'm dissappointed that the high is only 60 and the low is in the 30's. Am I going to need to pack WINTER COATS??!!

Really, I am so disappointed - I was hoping for 70's at least.
I'm guessing I should just pack jeans and sweatshirts. I'm bummed....

Those long-term forecasts can be wrong. I wouldn't start worrying about it yet. Check again when it gets closer to your trip. Although January can be "iffy" down there. We have had very warm weather one year and one year we were scraping the windows of the rental car with our drivers license. This year we are bringing gloves, fleece jackets and old hotel room keys for scraping the windows. We are going at the beginning of this month. So we'll see how it goes for the third time in January (these three times have been spread out over 10 so I don't know if there is any type of weather pattern here ). But it's much better than the 30 below wind chill and 46" of snow that we have here.

I wanted to add that the year that it was so cold down there it wasn't for the whole week, we did have some days that it was nicer - in the low 70's. So even if it sounds like you will have colder weather, in the 60's for the highs, maybe it will not be for the whole time you are there.

We were there the first week of 2008. We experienced 2 days of Capri's, T-shirt, and tank top weather, 1 day of so-so weather and then 4 days of layering every piece of clothing we had brought. It was 40 degrees one day with the wind chill factor bringing it down to 28-30. It was COLD! We spoke with friends from the area who told us the day after we left they had a nice warm front come in. So the weather can change pretty quickly.
I would suggest taking jeans, t-shirts (short and long sleeve~great for layering or warm weather), a sweatshirt (or just buy one there ) and a decent jacket. Doesn't have to be for snow, but a good jacket that is warm in the wind. Oh and don't forget a pair of gloves. Hopefully though you will have great Florida weather.

The 10-day on weather.com right now shows 72/46 for Jan. 11. I agree with KJ, though; keep checking, the closer you get, the more accurate the forecast will be.

I was just going to post that! I leave on Jan 10th.

My kids' suitcase is most of the way packed. I am bringing for dd capris with a long sleeved/short sleeved shirts to match for each day. Along with that I've got a few short outfits, few pairs of jeans, one heavier fleece sweatshirt, another couple of sweatshirts, and ofcourse we are coming from chicago so we'll have our winter coats.
DS is the same minus the capris...he's got more shorts but also jeans for each day. They each also have a bathing suit although I'm not planning that we'll be swimming more of a just in case.
For myself I'll be packing capris with a few pairs of jeans and then warmer clothes for evening. it sucks to have to pack so much because you have to pack for warm and cold
