Leaving for College program with DD on the 4th!

I was hoping someone on this board might be able to help me - my sister just found out she got a job working for Disney!!! :bounce: She is beyond excited - she has always wanted to work for WDW & just recently graduated from college.

So, my question is this: does anyone know what family members qualify for the employee discount? She believes that I would receive it, but I am unsure. Does anyone know how strict WDW is with employee discounts?

Any info would be greatly appreciated - please feel free to PM me if you don't want to post the info here. Thanks again!! :D

If you have not gotten a private message reply, you might want to have your sister join these boards when she gets there . There is a castmember board here only for castmembers. I am sure she will get all those answers.

I am also sure Disney will explain the parameters of her discounts.

Congrats to your sister. What is her role?

YesDear and JK, I know that your kids are on the CP now (by the way, how are they holding up in the thanksgiving week craziness?) and I"m going on the Spring program.

I wondered if you could answer a question for me. Most of my family and friends want to visit me, but some can't afford WDW, what kind of discounts do CPers get? I know you can't post it here, but if you could pm if you get a chance I would be very thankful!

The only person who gets the discount is the CM. They are the ones that must also pay for the purchase. They can buy for others to get the discount, but they must also pay for it as well.

Welcome to all from the land of the mouse! We are here to celebrate Thanksgiving with our CP DS Prince of Thieves! The night we got here he wanted to take us to Jellyrolls at The Boardwalk! He recently turned legal and had not been there yet!

Jellyrolls for those of you that do not know is a duelling pianos watering hole at The Boardwalk.

Particularly after wetting your whistle, the piano players get the audience to singalong as they play.

What made me laugh was that here is an establishment filled with mostly thirty and twenty somethings. There were of cousre some of us more mature indivduals! They were all singing at the top of their lungs songs that were first time hits when I was their age!!! I am 48.

I also had to laugh when they played Big Yellow Taxi and my son says you know I love that song by Counting Crows!!! Of course he had no idea that Joni Mitchel did the song over 20 yrs ago!

Cool place and DW and I were very impressed that DS was not embarassed to be seen with us in a public watering hole!!!

HAPPY THANKGIVING EVERONE!

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you all are enjoying your visit with the Prince!

We had Breakfast yesterday morning, Thanksgiving Day, at Olivia's at OKW. Our waiter said that based on their reservations it would probably be the largest dining day in the history of WDW. Olivias had reservations for over 700 yesterday from 1-8pm. If you have ever been their you know that the place is very small!

We ate at PTC at MGM and they were running about 30min behind time. Several walked up and asked about eating and were told they knew of no seats available at MGM.

All the parks have been really really packed. Even more so than 4th of July!

If this is an indication, we all better be prepared for the discounts to disapear!

We are currently at BCV for the remainder of our stay. It took untill after 3 for the room to be ready and we were told they had 100% occupancy!

Hope everone got what they wanted at the sales today! I actually bought a paper yesterday to check out the sales here in Orlando. DW gave me the dreaded two headed look and said no way!!!

My DD will be at WDW for the WDWCP starting Jan. 12, 2004. I'll ride to Fl. with her and then fly home on the 12th. Anyone else have a child in the Spring program?

What is her role?

She will have a great time if she realizes that she will work reall hard and have a great time while doing it!

You all should have seen DS dressed as a lifeskimo. That is a freezing lifeguard. The temps were in the low 40's on Saturday morning. Went down to the pool to see DS at SAB and all the lifeguards were dressed in full freezing gear. Parkas, hats, and gloves. What was even funnier were the idiots, fools, etc. that were swimming in the pool.

My daughter has a custodial role. She is looking forward to her position. She is used to cleaning out horse stalls and all involved with that, so she feels a custodial role will be no problem.

My daughter got the call the other day. She will be working at MK when we move to Florida in less than two weeks.

Glad to know she has a job right away. I can't wait to be only 20 mins away from WDW all the time. :)

I am not enjoying packing everything up. I have 28 years of stuff in this house. Guess you should move more often so it is quite the chore this is.

Congrats to your daughter, safetymom! And good luck on the packing. That is the one thing I will be dreading when ever I decide to move.

My daughter, alas, did not get the entertainment role. They did not have a need for her height. The recruiter did not think she had any operations roles left in the area that my daughter wanted. So my daughter told her she would wait til the fall. :(

But now that the cold weather has moved in, my daughter is widhing she could call the recruiter and tell her she will take anything! I don't think my daughter will live here in the cold for many years. :)

The holidays will be here before we know it! I know this has been discussed before, but anyone want to get together at WDW? I will be there Dec 28-Jan 8.

Jk1, sorry to hear that your daughter didn't get the entertainment role.

I am up for a get together at WDW. After Dec. 19 I will be there for a long long time.

I leave for the land of the mouse on the 19th and will be there until the 26th. Lets try to meet sometime. JK1 and Marla can verify that I am not too scary!!! LOL

Had a great time with DS at Thanksgiving. Did not get to see him that much because of work, but we understood! When we got back Sunday night one of our bags decided to take an extended vacation! Strange because we watched them all go through TSA security. Of course it was the new one DW had bought the week before. Not very impressed with the lost luggage service at AA. We had to pull teeth to get them to tell us anything!

We went to the airport Monday night and were effectively brushed off! The pleasantly snide person said it had only been 24 hrs, what was our problem. I asked her when it was considered lost? She said 24hrs. To make a long story short I checked their voice sytem on Tuesday night at 8pm and they said still lost. At 11pm said on a plane to Raleigh. Delivered on Wed with no explaination as to where it had been and the American tags had been removed!

Also DW has been really sick since we got back. Temp of 101.8. I took her to the Dr. yesterday morning at 6:45am!!!! Said it was not the flu but viral respiratory infection. She has barely gotten out of bed since Tuesday. Hope she feels better soon!

DS know several that are extending their progarm and he considered it also. He is considering staying as a seasonal employee, which we understand he can do. Checking out what that entails!

YesDear, so glad to hear that you enjoyed your Thanksgiving visit. And very glad to hear that your lost luggage finally turned up. I hope your DW is feeling better real soon. That illness going around really takes a toll on you.

Since I changed my dates for my arrival, we will not be able to meet over the Christmas holidays. I hope you enjoy your holiday visit. I am sure we will meet again at WDW sometime soon.

I hope the Prince stays seasonal with WDW. The way it was explained to my daughter is that they need to work 7 days within a year. Disney wants the time to be during a peak time such as the holidays or spring break. My daughter is planning on doing spring break in 2004.

Safetymom, I hope you get a chance to meet up with YesDear and his DW, RWeThereYet. They are fun couple! And not scary at all! :)

YesDear and anyone else going to be at WDW during the holidays. I would love to meet up with you. I know you have done this in the past so just tell me what day you want to meet. Right now the 19th and 20th won't be good since I'll be signing the papers to make my new house mine. Hopefully on the 20th the moving van will arrive.

It would be great to meet in person. My daughter starts working at MK on the 21st. It is all coming together. :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Safetymom, I bet this snow is making ou want Dec 19th come real soon, huh? LOL

Does your daughter know where she will be working in the MK? My daughter worked Fantasyland attractions during her WDWCP and still works there occassionally.
