Leaving Credit Card Details at Check in

I'm sure I read somewhere that if you leave your credit card details on check in, you are issued with a payment card that can be used as payment around the parks then it's all charged in bathes of £500 instead of each time you use your card. I was thinking about doing this as I was charged £1.50 every transaction the last time we were there and it really adds up.

Has anyone ever done this before? Or can anyone give me any more information on it? I'm guessing we'd still need cash for the little food carts and things like that around the park. Are there any shops/restaurants that wouldn't accept the payment card?

Also, how do you use it? Do they just have to swipe it and it'll be added to your bill? Or do you have to sign something? If you have to sign something, how does that work for more than one person? Will it have to be the card holder that signs for all the payments? For example, it will be my credit card that we leave, but I would want oh to be able to use it to pay for stuff, would he be able to or would it have to be me?

Sorry for all the questions, hope someone knows. Thanks in advance :thumbsup2

I have always done this (except this last trip as I was off site).

I took only enough cash for carts and small amounts for drinks etc, but you have to remember money for tips in restaurants as that can't be put on the card. There say there are a couple of restaurants in the Village that don't accept the card but I have used it at Annette's, Cafe Mickey and Rainforest Cafe. All other shops and restaurants take it - only the carts don't.

To make a payment you have to sign, like the old days before credit cards had PINs. Only one member of your party can use the card so you either have to shop together or make sure the other person has cash.

I've used the facility once in March 07,when you sign & complete the form at checkin you also complete an additional section with your your credit card details, it's the same Hotel ID card that you normally receive that acts as the payment card, used it at several restaurants and shops including paying for ride photos, can't remember having any problems at all with it. :)

Thank you both, at least now I know how it works. I think I'll definitely go for this. :thumbsup2 . Great to know about the RFC accepting it, that's one of the ones I was worried about, I thought I might have to pay there.
