Le Cellier lunch

I would recommend the filet the mushroom sauce and risotto are amazing as well as the actual steak. As far as the beer cheese soup, it is really good! It makes a perfect dip for the pretzel bread also :thumbsup2

Just ate there on May 5th. Loved it! My DH and I both ordered new york strip steak and augratin potatoes. It was great! It wasn't fatty like most steaks you order. Then for desert we had the chocolate moose which was great and the smores which wasn't very good since it was hard as a rock (which I didn't understand seeing as how when I make smores they are warm lol). Oh and did I mention I didn't have a reservation and only had to wait 5 minutes to be seated. :) Pixie dust all the way!

OP, thanks for asking this question. I was wondering too.

How flexible are they with substitutions on the regular dining plan for lunch? I'm thinking the gnocchi and getting grilled chicken instead of eggplant. Will they do that?

We were there last week on the Deluxe Dining Plan. Cheese soup was good, the fillet was great, however the mushroom risotto while tasty was a little too heavy for my taste.

I wanted to sub the grilled asparagus (love!) for the risotto, but they could only sub a starch for a starch, veg for a veg, etc.

I had the Niagra Refresher on the dining plan, which was also fantastic

My advice: don't order based on what other people think or recommend. That seems to be the critical mistake that people make when they go, which then results in disappointment when something doesn't "live up to the hype."

If another appetizer sounds better than the cheese soup, try the other appetizer. Personally I love the chipotle chicken sausage and sweet polenta; I think it's much more interesting and flavorful than the cheese soup.

On the entree side however, the filet would probably be a good choice. The burger also sounds very interesting, but I've never tried it. I would not order the prime rib sandwich again. My server recommended it, but it was like a greasy, heavy cheesesteak - not my style of food, and I barely touched it. If you pick food that sounds appealing to you, I would expect a good meal.

I agree. I think recommendations can be good, but it's also wise to be wary of the hype. I found the cheese soup to be a lot more sour and spicy than I would've expected - it has beer and Worchestershire sauce in the ingredients. I do like it, but my first taste was definitely a "what-the-heck?" moment, because I'd been expecting something more like Panera's cheese soup.

We also really liked the chicken sausage & corn polenta appetizer. Another good one is the tomato stack.

We've never gotten any entree but the mushroom filet because we like it so well (and I ordinarily don't like mushrooms!). Some folks seem to find it very salty, though.

We would recommend the fillet and the cheese soup. Our DD still raves about the soup. Also like the pretzel bread dunked in the soup. Would definitely recommend for lunch if you can get in.

LeCellier used to be our favorite place, but the last few years not so. The cheese soup was just okay, nothing special. I like the filet, but the risotta was too salty. The breads are good.

Hi
Has anyone been there recently and had the prix fixed lunch? I don't eat any meat and read that they have a mushroom ravioli on it, which I could order. My DD will definitely get the filet. We have an ADR for lunch on 6/2. He's never been to Le Cellier and I was there about 5 years ago, and had good vegetarian options. Thanks!!

We went to the Outback yesterday for dinner and while we were eating I asked my wife, "you know what I'm thinking this very moment?" She guessed it, how much I like the Outback over Le'Cellier, I gave her no hint. :rotfl:

For those of you who love Le'Cellier, keep on going and love it. For those of you who think it's the most over hyped thing since Wonder Bread began slicing bread, I'm with you. And for those of you who have never been there pay no attention to those who will tell you it's better than well...... you know what, (LOL) nor pay any attention to the nay sayers like me who feel it's not worth the time. Go there experience it and form your own opinion as to what side you are on. ;)
