We finally broke down and bought one. Currently it is sitting on a folding table until a permanent stand can be gotten.

There lies the problem. I keep looking at them and have yet to see one that matches my taste and price.

What seems like a good idea to me is to get some wall (kitchen) cabinets, about 6 feet worth, 24" high. Get some with glass doors (or even all for that matter) for the infrared remotes. Have the counter-top (a nice one) cut down or made to fit.

OR the really easy way:

Anyone bought a nice cabinet (just the lower section) that you like and where did you get it? Thanks!:)

Anyone?? Just bumping back to first page.......

I have my 37 inch LCD TV on my old TV stand I bought years ago from Hills Departmart.

It would fit a 42 inch LCD TV on it to.

I have 27 flat panel TV in a old desk that I bought from the Goodwill for 5.00 dollars.

Check around your house to see what 42 inch TV would fit on. Check out thrift stores in your area to see what find. That way have spend a lot money.

Ours was coming and I didn't know what to do with it. Then I found our old sofa table in the basement. It was a cheap one from one of those mall chains- but it was all wood. Very rustic. I sanded it and whitewashed it and it looked great! So while it was supposed to be a temporary solution we are really liking it.
Oh and can I say that I was the hard sell on the tv and I am now the one that loves it.

You know, I thought about a sofa table. But we have lots of equipment (receiver, speakers, DVD recorder, satellite receiver) that needs to be stored and I was afraid with the sofa table I would not be able to hide that stuff well enough.

I checked out the C&B site and they have a nice one. I will visit the store and see if I can see it in person.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

We have a 42" HDLP and I got a nice stand on clearance at Target for only $50 that also holds a DVD player, CD player, cable box and some CDs/DVDs.

I checked Target. They had some nice ones, but they weren't wide enough.

Our sofa table is kind of like a long rectangle- so we have a top shelf and then a bottom shelf. We have a ton of equiptment and honestly it doesn't look terrible- it is low so not as noticable and it is thankfully stackable stuff- dvd/ gaming stuff. Try to start with a low cost option and then you can find the swanky entertainment center to store that baby.
Oh and an idea. My neighbor mounted her system on the wall. and then put all the stuff- in the room behind it. So the wires ran through the wall to the room in the back (which was a laundry room so it worked.) Any laundry rooms behind your potential tv mount.
