For our 4th layout challenge, I'm going to make this a technique challenge.

Your layout can be of any topic you wish, any size you wish, but you must incorporate at least one distressing technique of some kind into your layout.

You must use one of the following techniques somewhere on your layout: Tearing, crumpling, sanding, rolling, fraying, scraping, inking, chalking, painting or staining.

(Note: If you happen to have a swap item that meets these criteria, you can include it on your layout, but it does not count toward your requirement! It must be something YOU have added to your layout.)

This might be a little out of the comfort zone for some of you. Don't feel the whole layout has to look distressed, it can be something more subtle. I just thought it would be fun to try something a little different.

The prize will be a Halloween themed mini-manilla folder album (along the lines of a paper bag album, except made with folders - thank you to Michellepooh for the design idea).

Cool!! I hope to get to this over the weekend or next week! CRUSH! I need to get some pages ready for my mini-scrapbook evening w/ a friend.. too much has gone on this week..that I had put it into the back of my mind.. thanks for the reminder!!! :)

Cool! I like this idea. Looking forward to seeing everyone's pages!

Pictures of the prize in the first post!

Brief description of how I made it:

First, this is the adorable album that I used as inspiration that I made in a class taught by Michellepooh :

The album is made using the small size manilla envelopes (without including the flap they measure 6x9):

Use 3 envelopes and fold them all in half:

For 2 of the envelopes, push the flap into the pocket and seal it down, forming a pocket:

. Leave the 3rd one with the flap out.
Arrange the 3 envelopes in a book form, alternating where the pockets are, with the open flap in the middle:

Then it's just a matter of covering all the surfaces.

The outer cover should be a 6x9 piece. The inner pages are 6x4.5. To cover the flap (both sides) cut a 6x2 piece then cut around the curves. The inserts/tags that go in the pockets are 5.5 x 4.

Thanks again, Michellepooh for the design inspiration. The royalty check is in the mail!

:sad1: It's probably not fair to put my name in the drawing since I won the last one - nice CM Harvest Crop Stickers from Lisa :thumbsup2 - but man, that is just soo cute!!

How long did it take for you to make it?

That is too stinkin' cute.. could you pass those directions along!!! I so want to do one of those for Christmas!!! :)

Ok, I posted before I looked through the rest.. off to copy and paste the instructions!! YOU rock!!!

and notice NEE's wooden dining room table shines so purdy. :lovestruc

I know, I know, I notice the oddest things. :lmao:

Not long at all. Maybe an hour? It was just a matter of cutting the paper to size and adhering.

That's because it's brand spankin new! Thanks for noticing! It still makes me happy to see how shiny it is. The sad part is we've had it for about a month now and that table has seen more scrapbook stuff on it than it has food. Cooking vs scrapping - you can guess what wins every time.
