Laundry Question

I have a question we will be staying at a studio for our first dvc trip at AKV this fall. I think I remember being told that although the studios do not have a washer and dryer, there is free laundry facilities availiable. Is this separate from the pay laundry facilities at the resort? Are they located on the DVC floors of the resort? Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi!

We just stayed at AKV this past Christmas. DVC does have separate laundry facilities, free of charge. We did not use them but I think I read on the DIS here that you can use your room key to access the laundry room. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

You are going to love AKV!!! We're going back for 1 night before we check-in to BCV this summer!

According to another thread, the DVC laundry room at AKV is on the 5th floor. It is free, most DVC laundry rooms contain coin-type washers, and you must push in the coin slots, but they do not need coins.

To add to what Chuck said, the laundry room is on the 5th floor, Zebra trail, not far from the lobby.

We stayed on the fifth floor in December 07 only a few doors down from the DVC laundry.

There are two washers and four dryers and there is a TV in the room and a small counter to fold on and two chairs.

The front load washer was a bit of a pain . I only put in a tiny bit of soap and it was sudsy and overflowing and I had to call for help. The maintenance guys didn't even have a key to the room yet.

They ran it empty and it still was overflowing with soap. Someone must have put in a ton of soap and it had to wash through.

So be careful.

It was nice to wash and dry for free and to be so close. My hubby and daughter slept and I watched TV and did wash.

it is close to 5408 - a studio.

so if you can't find it easily (and I really think you will) - then just look for 5408 - go toward the lobby a couple of doors.

always start the washer before I put detergent in it -just in case.

but with that thing couldn't even figure out how to start the monster.

so your problem might be others that put in the detergent then start the thing - only to find that they couldn't...
