Laughter, Tears & Screams- Two Aussies in WDW! New - 6/10 - The End!!

(Continued...)

We eventually made it to Big Thunder, and only had to wait around 10 minutes or so to ride. And then, we were off!!!

IMG_9482.jpg

My thoughts on Big Thunder always change. When I rode it first in 2006, I was expecting it to be much scarier, so I was a bit disappointed. Then this time, I was expecting it to be really lame but actually had a great time!! It's all about expectations, isn't it!?!

IMG_9483.jpg

After our crazy train ride, look who we ran into! Goofy!!

image076.jpg

(I have a confession to make. I always get Goofy and Pluto mixed up. I don't know why because they look totally different, but for some reason I always confuse them!)

We walked to Adventureland next - we wanted to ride the Jungle Cruise, but the wait time said 50 minutes!! :scared1: Really!?! And the Fastpass machines weren't turned on. This happened on our first night here too, bummer! I didn't want to wait 50 minutes when there were so many other things to do, so instead we headed over to Pirates of the Carribbean...

IMG_9487.jpg

Hmmm. It's not that I don't like Pirates, but I don't really get the love for it! Conan doesn't either. We're both a bit "meh" about this ride!! We rode it and had fun, but it's definitely not on the top of our list. A girl behind us in our boat was telling her friends (very loudly!) how much she loves the ride and how one day she rode it continually for a whole afternoon. Heh. Okay!! See, I don't get that love!

I do, however, love Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin! And so does Conan! So we headed in the general vicinity of Tomorrowland, stopping to have some Photopass photos taken on the way.

image087.jpg

Why do we have our sunglasses on, you ask!? This is why - I go squinty in the sun!!!

image081.jpg

Anyway, we made it to Buzz and Conan beat me again, of course!!! He had to regain his manliness after I thrashed him on Men In Black.

IMG_9488.jpg

Then it time for Spaaaaaace Mountain!! You have to say it like that, right? In a big deep manly voice? Spaaaaaaaaace Mountain!

IMG_9489.jpg

I'm just going to put it out there - Space Mountain freaks me out!! It's dark and fast and jerky and I'm sure that the next time I ride it, I'm going to be flung right out of my little rocket into the darkness, never to be seen again. Hehehee. I can't help but scream my head off in Space Mountain. It's fun, but terrifying!!! Conan sat in the front this time, and even he was a bit terrified!! Heee!

Next was something I'd never done before - Tomorrowland Indy Speedway!! Conan rode this by himself in 2006, while I shopped. For some reason it's just never appealed to me! But this time, Conan really wanted me to try it with him. So I did!

IMG_9492.jpg

And it actually was quite fun! The cars go way too slowly and it's annoying how they bump all over the place, but it was still fun. I would have LOVED it if I was little!! Here's Conan in his shiny little car...

IMG_9494.jpg

Whew, it had been a big morning so far!! Even writing it down now, it seems like we did a lot of stuff! And what did we do next!? No, we didn't sit down for a break. Nope, we didn't get an ice-cream and relax a bit...

We stood in the line for Dumbo for 40 minutes!! :scared1:

I really don't know what possessed us. We didn't ride it in 2006, and it's just so Disney!! I just felt like I had to ride it. And Conan agreed with me!! So we stood in that little snaking line for 40 minutes, along with 4,800 screaming toddlers. Heh. Go Dumbo.

IMG_9500.jpg

One thing we learnt - being in the Dumbo line really makes you assess other people's parenting techniques. :lmao: We had lots of in-depth quiet discussions which went along the lines of, "We will so not do that to our children, okay?!" Because you know, we're the experts!!! :lmao:

So we eventually got to ride Dumbo. And erm, yeah. Awesome. Oh, it was cute, but I don't think we'll wait 40 minutes again for it!! Unless we have a screaming toddler with us, of course.

Here we are riding Dumbo - don't we look thrilled?!

IMG_9502.jpg

After that, we decided it really was ice-cream time. We wandered over to Aloha Isle in Adventureland to grab ourselves one of these little beauties...

IMG_9503.jpg

Ooooh, Dole Whips!! :cloud9: :lovestruc :cloud9:

We took our massive Dole Whip and ate in the line for the Jungle Cruise. The queue time was now down to 30 minutes, which wasn't so bad. And actually, I don't think it was even that long. We only just had time to share our Dole Whip, before we hopped onto our boat!!

Look out!!

IMG_9507.jpg

I love the Jungle Cruise. It's so silly and corny.

IMG_9508.jpg

I loved this happy little elephant!!

IMG_9509.jpg

We still had 30 minutes or so until our lunch ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern, so we went for a little wander and took some more photos. Can you ever have too many castle photos!? Noooo!

IMG_9512.jpg

IMG_9514.jpg

We slowly made our way over to Liberty Tree Tavern. It had been a fun, busy morning, and we were definitely ready for a food break!!

Next up... Lunch and our afternoon at MK!

Lovely update! Our first day this october is going to be an MK morning, so it was great to see how much you guys were able to do!

Lovely photos again! I love your sweater!!

Great update! I've been looking for some Aussie updates!:) This picture is absolutely beautiful! Can I steal it for my desktop??:worship:

I just caught up on your trip report. I read your last one after it was finished, and I just found this one a couple days ago. I am trying to remember what all I wanted to say about your report. New York City sounded great, I would love to go some day. I am glad this time the space center experience was better. I remember reading about the last time.

I enjoyed your report about Universal and IOA. We have been to both several time and we really like them. They aren't Disney, but they are a lot of fun. However your least favorite ride is my son's favorite ride in the whole world. Jimmy Neutron. He loves it! When we went to Disney in Dec. he kept asking to ride it. He didn't understand the difference between Disney World and IOA. He thinks it is all Disney World.

I am glad you got to ride Big Thunder, and I know exactly what you mean about expectations. The first two trips to Disney I wasn't able to ride it for one reason or another and on our third trip I was so excited to try it. When it was over I thought, "That's it?!" But the next trip I didn't expect much and I thought it was great.

I can't wait to read more about your fun trip.

I have to tell you how much I enjoy your trip and food reports. You write with such joy and it just makes me happy!

I've read your trip & dining reports for some time now. (No stalking or anything-I promise!)
I really enjoy them-they bring a smile to my face.

We went to Disney for the 1st time ever in February & seeing all your pics brings back the memories & makes me so happy!!!:flower3:

Oh & my little one had to ride on Dumbo. We waited for an hour & you would have marvelled at my parenting skills had you seen them!:rotfl:

AussieAngel - you're back and I found you!! I am so excited - I love to read your reports!! So far your trip sounds marvelous and full of so much fun and, um, excitement, too! Can't wait to read more. Peter Pan is one of my favorites, I have such great memories of riding the one at DL as a child. And Pirates is a favorite, too, although it's probably because the one at DL is so much longer, and a wee bit more exciting. Glad you were able to take another adventure and we're along for the ride. Looking forward to more :goodvibes

I'm glad you like my sweater! :thumbsup2 We squeezed in a lot that morning at Magic Kingdom, which was great fun, but kinda exhausting!! Thanks for reading!!

Oooh, I'm so glad you found my new trip report and jumped on board!! You did well to catch up so far! Your son loves Jimmy Neutron - how funny!! I'm really not a Jimmy Neutron fan anyway, so I guess that makes a big difference! That's cute that he thinks Universal is Disney World!
Sounds like we had a similar experience on Big Thunder - I really liked it this time, and had lots of fun! I guess I knew what to expect this time.
Thanks for reading and for all your lovely comments!! :woohoo:

I have to tell you how much I enjoy your trip and food reports. You write with such joy and it just makes me happy!

Aww, thank you! What a nice thing to say!! I'm so glad you're enjoying my reports!!

Yay, I'm glad you decided to come out of stalker-dome to say hi!!
I'm sure I would have marvelled at your parenting skills in the Dumbo line - DIS people know how to take care of their kids, right?! :thumbsup2
Thanks so much for reading and saying hi - it's great to know you're enjoying my reports!!

I can't wait to try a Dole whip. :cool1:

I wish I had one now!! Yummmm!

Hellooooooo!!!
I'm so glad you found me again, and popped in to say hi!
Peter Pan is great, isn't it!? There's just something about that ride... so relaxing and cute!
Oooh, I didn't know Pirates at Disneyland was longer and more exciting. I've never been there... Maybe another time we'll have to head there instead to try it out! Who knows!?!
Thanks for reading and for your nice comments!!

Great update! What a fun day at MK!!! :goodvibes Dole Whip Float!!! :thumbsup2

A Dole Whip Float makes any day a great day, doesn't it?! :lmao:
Thanks for reading!!

I enjoyed the update! I love the MK sooo much. I have that Pirate's LOVE, I could stay on it all afternoon, too, like that girl behind you! Wonder if it's because it reminds me of riding as a child? :confused3 I love the pic of you guys with Goofy. Goofy's pants crack me up! LOL.

Great update. Kinda chilly huh?!

You couldn't pay me to go on the speedway (well ok maybe if it was enough :rotfl:). I always got the worst car that bounced all over and made me ill. I love pirates though. I think it's just that feeling I get back like it's from my first Disney trip as a mid teen.

Just popped in to see if there was a new update yet..(nudge nudge ;)) but really to say that I just read your previous TR and loved, loved, LOVED it!! I sure hope I can do one as good for my WDW trip!!

Hiiiiiii everybody!!!

I was hoping to get my next update up tonight, but my Dad has come to stay overnight with us! So I'd better go be social instead of updating my trip report, sorry!!!

But.... tomorrow I have all day to myself to relax and have some "Julie time", so I'll definitely update then!

Ooh, you have the Pirates love!! I think a lot of it seems to do with childhood memories - maybe that's why I don't feel the love!! The first time I rode Pirates was when I was 25. Hehehee. Glad you liked the update, thanks again for reading!!! :yay:

Hehehee, the Speedway really isn't that great, is it!? The cars are cute and colourful, but it's a bit stinky down there with all the fuel being burnt!!
Thanks for reading!!!! :thumbsup2

I'm glad you're all caught up on my last trip report - you did very well to read it all!! We had lots of fun on that trip too. Thanks again for reading!! :woohoo:

Next update coming up tomorrow!!!! :dance3:

Hello, my friend! I was soooo far behind in my trip report reading but I'm caught up now. Darn real life intruding on my fun. ;)

Well, I had left off way back at Sea World and I just have to say that I'm totally with you on the birds. Ick. DD is still terrified of them and blames it on feeding the dolphins at Sea World when she was probably 4 or 5 and a seagull SWOOPED right in and took the fish out of her hand. I have a picture of it that I've actually been trying to locate so your post was very timely. :rotfl:

Islands of Adventure looks FABULOUS and I'm really hoping I can talk the family into going there next year. They never want to leave WDW. Fuddy duddies.

One thing we learnt - being in the Dumbo line really makes you assess other people's parenting techniques. :lmao: We had lots of in-depth quiet discussions which went along the lines of, "We will so not do that to our children, okay?!" Because you know, we're the experts!!! :lmao:

:rotfl2:Isn't that the truth? There are many times at WDW when dd sees other parents interact with their children that prompts DD to turn to me and say with great sincerity, "You ARE the best Mommy ever!" Sheesh, I've been telling her that for YEARS. It's about time she believed it!

Great updates, Julie! I can't wait to read more!

Hello, my friend! I was soooo far behind in my trip report reading but I'm caught up now. Darn real life intruding on my fun. ;)

Yayyy, you're back!! Hi Amy!!!
Don't you hate it when life gets in the way of DIS-ing time!?! :surfweb:

Oh no!! What a disaster! Apparently those evil birds have been wreaking havoc for many years at Seaworld then!! Poor Cait!! Did you end up finding the photo?

Islands of Adventure looks FABULOUS and I'm really hoping I can talk the family into going there next year. They never want to leave WDW. Fuddy duddies.

You should definitely pop in for a visit!! It was lots of fun - the girls would love all the rides. Plus there's funnel cakes everywhere!! ;)

Aww, that's so sweet!! I'm glad Cait recognises what a great Mom you are!! Hehee! There really are some horrifying parental moments at Disney World though, aren't there!?! I just constantly feel like tapping parents on the shoulder and saying to them, "Hey, your child is really tired and cranky, and so are you. Go back to your resort for a nap!!!" I'm sure that would go down really well!! :lmao:

Now Amy, get back to your fabulous trip report and keep writing!! I'm so bossy!! :woohoo:

I'm off to write my next chapter now!! :surfweb:

Righty-o, so where did I last leave off?! That's right - we were heading for lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern! We'd had a busy morning at Magic Kingdom, and were looking forward to a nice hearty lunch!

Lunch at LTT was great! We really enjoyed our meals - we shared the Tavern Fried Cheese, then I had a chicken pasta and Conan had a burger. I don't know why, but I didn't really have high expectations of this restaurant, but we both really enjoyed it. The food was great and the restaurant itself was warm, cosy and very inviting - a nice little break for lunch in the middle of a busy day! Here we are eating our fabulous desserts...

IMG_9522.jpg

After lunch, we were feeling a bit full and lazy, so we decided to do something we'd never done before - ride the Railroad train!! Toot toot! This was actually really cute! We only stayed on it for a little while, because we wanted to get off at Toontown, but it was fun and relaxing. Here's Conan, enjoying our short little ride...

IMG_9526.jpg

Why were we off to Toontown Fair!? To visit Mickey and Minnie, of course!! Well their houses, anyway. I don't if it's always the same in there, but both times I've visited their houses, I just want to get out again! They always seem to be PACKED with people!! Pushy, shovy people who want to touch Minnie's fridge and sewing machine. We really didn't stay for long in either of their houses - it was too crazy!! Just snapped a couple of pictures and headed out the door! Fresh air!!!!

IMG_9527.jpg

Also, I always feel a bit sad for Minnie when I visit her house. Her house is all neat and girly and pretty, with zillions of Mickey photos. And in Mickey's house, there's only photos of his dog and lots of sport stuff!! Phhh. Boys.

Conan in front of Mickey's house with a smiley CM and a man on a mission with a big camera!

IMG_9528.jpg

We made our way over to Tomorrowland next. We were feeling pretty tired and ready to go back to the WL for a rest, but first, we wanted to do Stitch's Great Escape. We'd never done it before and we really didn't know what it was. And now, even though we've done it, I still don't know quite how to describe it!! Gross might be one word to describe it. Hehehee. Weird might be another word. All I remember is it being really, really dark, and Stitch burping in our ears. Ewwwww. I think we'll skip that one next time!!

There was one more thing we had to do before we left Magic Kingdom - ride the Tomorrowland Transit Authority again!!! We already rode it on our arrival day remember, but we love it!! It's so relaxing and silly, and there's never anybody on it! Woohoo!

So happy on the TTA!! :goodvibes

IMG_9529.jpg

We meandered towards Main Street and stopped for a few Photopass photos on the way out...

image104.jpg

I got kisses!! Woooooo!!! :lovestruc

image106.jpg

And look who we found! My favourite little fairy ever! Hi, Tink!!! :tinker:

image096.jpg

What a fun day at Magic Kingdom!! Everything just seemed to go so smoothly - the crowds were pretty much non-existant and we got to do everything we wanted to do, in a pretty laid-back way! Yay!!

I think throughout this trip, Magic Kingdom became my favourite park. Sure, there's no really big thrill rides, but it's just so Disney! It's all so pretty and fun and we just had such a great time there!! Hollywood Studios used to be my favourite park, and I still love it, but I think Magic Kingdom might have taken over my top place! Oooh! :woohoo:

Coming up next... The rest of our afternoon, dinner at Jiko, and... some sad news!! :headache:

I just wanted to say that I love your reviews. I started with your dining reviews and they were awesome so I came over to read your trip report! Also awesome!

I really wanted to reserve the WL for our trip coming up but was trying to save some $$ so going for deluxe dining instead.

Can't wait to hear more about your trip!

Yaaaaaaaaay! Update! I love the Tink photo!!!!! Can't wait ti hear about Jiko!
