Latest DVC DCA swag

I wasn't able to get a magnet. I was told they would get another delivery the day that I am leaving. So, it just wasn't meant to be for me.

I did go around to all the stops to collect postcards which was fun. There are very different personalities in each area. Some were very happy and wanted to chat about the parks and some acted like it was a major inconvenience that I asked for a postcard. I feel like Disney is hiring anybody these days.

I wonder if they will still have the 70th postcards in June. I never made it over to get the Disneyland ones. (Or the Pixar hotel ones but I didn't plan on that anyway.)

Which magnet were you not able to get?

They were passive aggressive with me for the zooptopia postcards. I never claimed to be direct and they gave them to me while chatting before verifying, then they said those were for direct only and I said OK have them back. I srsly didnt care about those. And then they got all weird and told me it was fine.

They really need to handle this better because you feel like youre doing something wrong when youre not and I dont like feeling awkward and uncomfortable.

So stupid, but then they gave me the ornament and that was OK for resale?? I would think the ornament was more sought after than post cards when I already had a nicer lithograph of the same pictures in my hand for being AP. It really does come across as tacky pointing out eligibility over some post cards that I never asked for.

The red DVC holiday zip up is officially not available anywhere it seems. I went to several gift shops at wdw (vgf, poly, blt, bwv, akv, ccv etc) and all the ones at dlr and never saw not one.

Not going to be any restocks this late in the game, I guess they underestimated the demand although I dont know why they would, us dvc people are loyal and proud 🤣

When we stopped by DCA Vineyard Vines (or whatever it is called) they gave us a long Zootopia print, postcards, and a couple other prints. When we went to the Holiday Open House at VDH and did a room tour, they gave us a couple holiday magic band sliders, ornaments, wood coasters, and a drawstring bag. They were very welcoming at the Open House!

Are you resale only? That def wasnt my experience in October 🤣 They gave me stuff, but with the usual reluctance and awkwardness lol.

What is the holiday open house? I would like the magic band sliders if its not an issue for them 🤣 Were staying at VDH soon

yes, currently resale only. It was a little awkward at DCA and just walked away with papers/prints but we took that time to schedule a tour for our departure day during their open house at VDH. The Holiday Open House was were the real swag was. They had gingerbread cookies and cocoa in the VDH lobby and a few guides there showing off rooms and handing out the ornaments and sliders. During our room tour, the guide handed us the drawstring bag with all the other goodies. He even offered to drive us back to VGC in his golf cart. It was really nice.

Thats awesome, im glad they treated you as a member paying the same annual dues as everyone else as they should 🤣

We went and looked at the room at VDH studio too because id never seen it before, only the one bedrooms so why not, after they gave us the postcards. Shortly after, I received an email from the guide that literally sounded like they were trying to make us feel bad for being resale and and pointing out what we can't do.

It said something along the lines of "I wanted to provide you with this email with information to invite you to purchase direct points just in case you ever want to go into our DVC lounges or have access to special DVC direct member gifts again in the future. When you purchase your points directly through Disney, you gain access to a variety of exclusive benefits that enhance the value of your membership."

I was really irritated and turned off by that tbh. I get a lot of value from my current membership and dont need them acting like its less than and needs enhancement. Ofc I already know about the lounges and what direct offers, they remind me with every email and magazine they send 🤣 and we will do that when we are ready and when we feel it makes sense, not when a guide "invites us" to do so.

I really should have responded that, but opted to block instead. Now that I think about it, the sales tactics in California have been much more aggressive and off putting than in Fl imo.

yeah, wow, that is a different experience than I had. We didn't have a guide, hadn't talked to anyone about direct before, so this guy basically adopted us. His approach was this- "I am a Disney Vacation Club Sales Counselor available to help you and your family discover the ins and outs of Membership. Together, we will explore whether Membership is right for your family’s travel lifestyle. Please watch the video below for additional information on how I can assist you." The rest was about Magical Beginnings, incentive discounts, and his bio. Looked like a form email, so I'm surprised your guide went out of their way to try to push your buttons. Maybe they pegged you as someone with FOMO and tried to use that to their advantage and it backfired? What a lousy sales tactic.

He isnt my regular guide, thankfully, my current guide is in FL and is a wonderful person that has never said anything about us being resale at all and has gone above and beyond to make us feel welcomed 🥰

Yeah this email was definetely not following a script and he went out of his way to write that🤣 I feel like, or hope that, Disney wouldnt approve. I am very much a person with FOMO but im also not stupid and can see what he was trying to do and yes backfired and irritated me 🤣🤣

What was the name of the guide you interacted with at VDH? My experience was quite the opposite. When I initially inquired about DVC back in 2023, I was assigned a guide. After I told him we were going resale, he ended up being slightly rude about it.

The guide who gave us a VDH tour was great and we actually switched so he is our official guide now since I wanted one in CA anyway.

In the spirit of the holidays, I will give him more consideration and kindness than he gave to me and not call him out by name on the internet for all to see, but if you want to know for your own personal reason to not have someone like this as your guide, I will gladly dm you the info 😊
