We have had great luck with a free bump up at resorts.
Such as getting a balcony when we did not have one.

At the Dolphin - arrival Tuesday November 5 - around 11 PM
We have a traditional room - 2 double beds - no view
We do not mind a room on the inner wing - but could we get bumped up
to a view of the pool, or water, or Swan or YC next door ?
A balcony would be 2 bumps up - not likely.

Since we are arriving late from our flight to MCO - less rooms to chose from ?
Not likely having a better view than the garbage or roof ?

A room upgrade is always possible. Are you a SPG or Marriott Rewards member? That might help. I've never heard of anyone being switched to the Swan from the Dolphin. You won't be switched to the Yacht Club as YC is a WDW resort and the Dolphin is a Sheraton (owned by Marriott) and not WDW.

We are both SPG and Marriott members
We just meant a view of the YC or view of the Swan
It would be nice - we will have a senior discount - great rate in November
Unless our DD comes with us - a RN for a better discount.
Our full grown DD & DS are considering coming with us - obviously their own rooms with their friends.

Please remember that a very late arrival like that is more likely to get you walked to another hotel for an oversell situation than an upgrade. I'd call the hotel and ask them to note on your reservation that you will be arriving very late. Call the day of your check in and remind them you will be arriving late and to not walk you.

As far as an upgrade, ask for it at the front desk.

I was in the hotel business for almost twenty years.

You might wanna check your rate vs what you can get with a Costco member package.
For the record, if you don't mind being on the ground floor, the small row of rooms down the hall from the gym, are spectacularly close to the pools, and the buses - you basically have your own walkways to them, and I'll take those sliding door walkout patios over a tiny balcony any day of the week.

Just be careful in flip flops if it rains, and you have to make a quick walk back fro the pools. I'm amazed I didn't break my spine, and pull my nether-region's muscles with the cartoon fall and splits I took. My fault tho - my flip flop bottoms were badly warn. A few ppl came out of their room to ask if I was ok. It must have been quite a scene.

At Dolphin, I doubt I'd stay in any other section, but we like pool time, and being able t walk right out of the room to the pool walkways is pretty nice.
