Late August crowds??

I am considering a trip the 3rd week in August. I have heard the crowds tend to be smaller during the last 2 weeks. If anyone has been there in the last year or 2 during that time please let me know. Any help appreciated.

yes, we were there last August travelled out on the 5th and returned home on 1st Sept. the crowds weren't to bad (been in May and Oct and its been more crowded), we did everything we wanted some more than once, the heat has to be taken into consideration but if you pace yourselves you'll be o.k.

We've been the past two years in August. Crowds are fine. Not much of wait times - if any! HOT, HOT, HOT!! We're trying June this year and I hope we don't regret it!

We went the first (full week) of August last year and the crowds were do-able (it was our first "on-season" trip). This year we are going the third week. I'm starting to get nervous though - several forums on these boards have been talking up the month of August and it seems it may start to become a popular time to go!

Regardless, there are still schools that have started or will be starting, making this a less desirable time in the summer. We will return on Sat. and our kids will start school that Monday. (Will need to have all back-to-school items in check before we leave!)

Sorry...I should have told you when in August we went. Last year was the 11-23rd and the year before was, if I can remember, the last full week in August.

Hi there...

We enjoyed August at Disney last year (Aug 18th - Sep 01)

The crowds were light except for the last few days (labour day weekend) and then it was Hell.

Keep in mind it rains/storms pretty well every afternoon anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours... it usually starts around 2-3pm. Sometimes severe lightning and the pools had to be cleared.

These daily storms did not cause any problems for us - we usually were having our late lunch..

We have been to Disney in August once before and it was great! Aside from the heat, we had a wonderful time with our 3 and 5 year olds! The crowds were not bad for it being the first week of August and we hardly waited in line for anything! We are going again this year the first week and I am looking forward to it!

I am really looking foward to another week there this year. I was concerned b/c for the first time we went this past Easter and the crowds were a NIGHTMARE!!! NEVER AGAIN! So I need to go get another fix!!

I was just there and due to amazing FT package plan to go in August 7th through the 14th but wonder with this deal if it will be crowded bet it may be. We plan to hit parks early then pool then back to parks to beat hear and crowd. Also being on Monorail hotel will help.

We went last year in August, I think it was the second week. While schools up north tend to start back late August and sometimes not until early September, schools in the south start back much earlier. They all have AC and always have (I was raised in Louisiana.) Crowds are not that bad and I think this is one of the reasons. We do not like to take our kids out of school and we would choose the late August time frame again!

We were there 2 years ago during the last week in August/first week in September and the crowds weren't bad at all, due to the fact that the schools were back in session in sll but a few north-eastern states. The heat/humidity were really IMPRESSIVE though, as were the thunderstorms that appeared out of nowhere! Take your ponchos, water sandals and a fan and you'll be good to go!!

We always go in August and find it to be less crowded and just as hot down in Florida as Philadelphia is in August. Last year we decided to go down in June. Worst time ever. It was the period of time where is downpoured everyday all day making it a less enjoyable trip for us. This year back to August. We leave on the 23rd up to the 30th.

Okay...you just scared me with June! We're going in June for the first time this year. The past two years we've gone in August and I just didn't want to to it again this year (that and we have rented a cottage up at the beach in Maine and I think Maine is August is a bit more comfortable than Disney in August!). Maybe we'll be going back to Disney next August
