Late 70's early 80's girls

'70's girl here.. That 70's show had the midwest look down perfect.
I had a Shag haircut.. super duper feathered
remember ''smock tops'"? they came back in style 2 or 3 years ago
Varsity jackets? wearing your boyfriends at the Football games
Wearing your boyfriends class ring .. wrapping it with matching yarn to keep it on your finger?
Suede jackets with fringe?
ID bracelets?
CPO jackets?
oh and boys wearing tux shirts to match their girl's prom dress....
lots of powder blue tuxes and ruffled shirts in the mid 70's:scared1:

skirts... maxi's,midi's and mini's... we had em all in the 70"s...

and then came DISCO!!!!! ah Danskin skirts! and Quiana Shirts... shiny, slippery shirts. My bf/dh had a black and white one that he adored... and he was soo hot in 1978! still is imho! ;)

Oh, and what about the barrettes with the ribbon braided through the 2 sides and then left to dangle down, with little beads and whatnot on the ends? HOT.

I remember I got some that had red and green ribbon in them, with alternating red and green tri-beads on the end, from a lady who made and sold them at our swim meets. I was awesome.

I wore TONS of these - everyday to match all my outfits...

BTW they are in Family Fun mag this month

ok I'm the naive one....what ARE the feathery clips for?:confused3 No laughing! I really am clueless!

I guess I grew up in a different area of the country or my memory has failed me (most likely)

but I remember the coke shirts & huge denim purses - mine had patches all over it (this was 80s)

and slouchy socks - and Jordache jeans

see I cant remember much. I do remember having a kitty shirt when I was real young

My hair was boring for years - parted in the middle & pulled up on the sides with those braided barretts (elem school) and then I got bangs in highschool - but only teased them a little - I was never good @ hair & wasn't coordinated enough to tease it....do remember friends doing it for me @ PE though

:lmao: I remember all of these! :rotfl2: We looked so *****in', though! :lmao:

How about these wrap-around pants?

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: We thought it was cooler to tie the back panel first, so the tie showed in the back. Made it easy for the boys to untie them, and they did in crowded school hallways, but we still wouldn't be caught dead with the tie showing in the front. :lmao::lmao:

Just google "roach clip", you'll find it. ;)

And don't forget your name on the back in flocked/fuzzy letters. That truly put the look over the edge.

Of course :) But I didn't have my name on the back of my shirt. Instead I had "I love Duran Duran" on it (I was 14).

I do remember the air brush shirts as well. I had one made up for my best friend at the time and myself that had an airbrushed unicorn on it. It said our names on it and "Best Friends".

Then there were the leg warmers. Oh, so cool. :lmao:

How can I forget those! My dad took a picture of me talking on the phone back then and I was wearing leg warmers. Didn't they come back "in-style" recently?

and slouchy socks - and Jordache jeans

Slouchy socks - I remember those. Wearing two socks at the same time and "slouch" the cuff down.

Someone else had mentioned Reboks. I still wear the high tops and am due for another pair.

Jordache jeans were all the "rave" back then. I remember going with my mom to a Bingo game and all I wanted was to win $25 so I could get a pair of Jordache jeans. Never did win any money so never bought the jeans.

Oh yes, this is the type of store I bought my HIP HUGGERS at! In Michigan we had Jeans Galore and Pants Galore. They had to be low riding, skin tight and dragging on the ground. That part used to drive my mom crazy. She said hip huggers were OK as long as my crack didn't show.

do you remember stores that pretty much only sold jeans and cords. There would be walls and walls of the same thing in different sizes and colors. Ex. Levi store.
Do you remember going to order t-shirts where you picked it out and had it ironed on. We used to get the girl style with the capped sleeves and looked for glitter things. Ex. rose with glitter. Very cheesy I know.

Oh, the nostalgia! :goodvibes

Your post pretty much sums me up except I had super long hair, then the Farrah.

Disco...ahhhh! :cloud9:

So many guys were hot in 78! I rarely see a male of any age these days that I'd give a second look to!

Love high top Reeboks!

You didn't miss anything by not owning Jordache jeans, their fit was "off".

They were "roach" clips to hold your "cigarette" when it got too small for your fingers. I'm another one who didn't have a clue until college... :hippie:

Remember when the 80's got rolling and we wore heels with our jeans? And I remember tapering my pants.... leaving the opening JUST open enough to get my foot through and then they were very tight on the ankle...

For many years, the *only* store out there for teen girls (I was in 8th grade I think) was the Levi's store. I had every color of cords going. And, yep, the T-shirts. I distinctly remember my Aerosmith "Get Your Wings" shirt from that store.

Candies with both straight leg jeans and parachute or harem like pants. Baggies were in for about a minute.

Love Candies!

I wore harem pants but didn't care for baggies.

One look I still love is skinny jeans rolled up with slouch socks and high heels. The look is fab. if the heels are really high and have an ankle strap.

Pumps worn with frilly ankle socks and mini skirts/dresses is another look I still adore!

I still love "big" hair. It may have involved a lot of time and effort but it showed one cared about their appearance!

What about feathered clips we wore in our hair or other places. Um, these clips had other uses but we called them an accesory.

I remember the feathered clips! I thought I was the coolest kid in town because teenagers used to come up and buy them from me(usually got them at the fair or something) for 50 cents...I was so innocent then:cutie:

I don't remember the pants stores, but the t-shirt shops were a staple of every Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/beach vacation. You could get the iron-ons OR even better...air brushed w/ your name and a design! :rotfl2:

I totally had one of those and wore it in my hair. Had NO CLUE what it was really for! :rotfl:

Those were all the rage when I was in grade school. We would do them in our school colors...one of the few "cool" hair accessories we were allowed to wear with our Catholic school uniform.

Oh the memories
Do you guys remember friendship pins. They were safety pins with little tiny beads on them and you wore them on your shoelaces?

I remember the store in the mall that sold only pants and I think we had another one downtown along with the t-shirt iron on store.

Who remembers gunnie sax? Every girl had to have one of those for her school dance. :rotfl2:
