So many guys were hot in 78! I rarely see a male of any age these days that I'd give a second look to!

Yay... I am so glad that someone else here remembers this stuff
oh.. and then after my shag grew out I acquired the huge selection of Hair bands made popular by Pam Dawber in Mork and Mindy!! and then came RAINBOW SUSPENDERS! as a nod to Robin William's Mork

oh and as for ROACH CLIPS.... Lord have mercy.. I had no idea until I got to college.. Naive Freshman that I was... and BONGS really blew my mind------ stupid me could not figure out these strange vases in people's dorm rooms!

I had three pairs of Ditto's pants. One in navy, one brown, and one forest green. Anyone remember these? They were skin tight, no pockets, and the seam ran down the back of the leg and followed your butt curves!

I also remember those gigantic lip smacker chap sticks in bizarre flavors. Cotton candy, root beer, grape, strawberry, chocolate, .....I must have had 7 of them.

Someone else mentioned Love's Baby Soft, I use to wear that all the time.

Then there was layering clothes just for the sake of layering. Turtle neck, shirt with color, sweater.

I had these in every freaking color. It was during my Xanadu phase. I WAS Olivia Newton John at the skating rink!!

Just LOOKING at that picture made me disturbingly nostalgic last night. I loved those barrettes so much it was scary.

I remember the store in the mall that sold only pants and I think we had another one downtown along with the t-shirt iron on store.

Who remembers gunnie sax? Every girl had to have one of those for her school dance.

I had totally forgotten about Gunne Sax until I read Jen Lancaster's book Pretty in Plaid (TOTALLY worth the read if you have a snarky sense of humor and grew up in the '80s)...when I read that name it was like someone slapped me in the face with an ad from Seventeen magazine. Total flashback. I actually SQUEALED.

And what about Forenza and Outback Red?

Oh the memories
Do you guys remember friendship pins. They were safety pins with little tiny beads on them and you wore them on your shoelaces?

Forgot to mention this one...after my grandmother passed away, we were at her house getting everything in order for an estate sale, etc. I took her jewelry box into the kitchen for my mom to sort through and one of the first things we came across was a friendship pin with little rainbow beads on it that I must have given her when I was in about 2nd grade. She'd hung onto that thing for more than 20 years. Not trying to be a downer; I'd completely forgotten friendship pins ever even existed until I saw it.

LOL, do you remember the episode of "The Facts of Life" where Tootie was told the bong was a jellybean dispenser? Lessons learned in a half hour sitcom, gotta love it.

Aw, this makes me so nostalgic it's sad. I LOVED those braided ribbon barrettes, in fact I still have one burgundy one from a pair my mother made me. I also wore a dark blue Gunne Sax dress of an aunt's until it fell to pieces.

Does anyone seek out shows from their childhood half for the clothes? I grew up watching Brit TV on NJN, so my taste always ran to what was popular overseas. (Can you believe that in my WHOLE childhood I never got to go to the shore??)

I have no shame, I'd wear those styles again in a heartbeat if I found them made in any good quality, otherwise I'm a boring Land's End mom.

PS If you like the airbrushed shirts, Michaels sells fabric spray paints. I've had good luck with them, though the effect is more vintage underground bandshirt than high class. I get the tee shirts for it from Goodwill, just in case I screw it up.

Don't forget the LeSac purses that accessorized Gloria Vanderbilt and Jordasche jeans, layered shirts and clogs with the Farrah Faucet hair and the comb in the back pocket.
I had my lip gloss and money in it while I hung out at the mall and bought our airbrushed and transfer t-shirts before we went roller skating.

I must admit, I bought an iron-on transferred sweatshirt at the shore this summer. Just couldn't help myself! It's been a looong time since I've been. DD had a blast customizing some t-shirts she bought herself as well. She was in awe.
I didn't get a chance to get to any boardwalk games though, but I think I had enough rock group decorative mirrors in my day.
Nothing like being an 70/80s girl!

I had this giant silver purse with matching boots and I wore lots of watches at the same time. I thought I was so cool. I also had the worlds largest collection of jelly bracelets that I bought at the skating rink. I have them in a box somewhere still.

and BIG earrings- the size of hubcaps if I remeber correctly!

Millers Outpost was the place for jeans - the fancy designers came from the boutique stores and I can picture it in my head but cannot come up with the name

Wrap around pants.........my former badboy boyfriend from high school found me on facebook and the first thing he mentioned was my wrap arounds, they were a creamy white/off white color and way to sexy for me to have been wearing at 16, no wonder he remembers them

How about the Chemin De Fer Jeans???? they were soooo tight. I had the pair with the zipper that went all the way around - yep, badboy remembered those too!

For the skating crowd, remember the fuzzy pompoms we used to tie onto our skates? The guys wearing Angel Flights and Members Only Jackets

Okay, our boutique type store was called Brooke's, and we had another one that I can't remember the name of. But Brooke's was the place to go, especially if you wanted the 80's Madonna-inspired wardrobe. Gah, I can't believe we paid good money to wear some of that crap.

Swatch watches! My mother always wanted to know why I could'nt be home on time when I was wearing 3 watches.

*Swoon* I was so obsessed with them! So much that when I was 4 months pregnant I saw them in concert, and swore if DD was a boy I was naming her Mike Reno!! The embarrassing part is I still like them!

Saddleback! Then they also had Sidesaddle, where the seam ran up each leg in the front, curved over your hip and back down again in the back!

Oh, Chemin de Fers were it, with our Candies! I had the sailor pants (two rows of buttons in the front) in several colors, and the tuxedo pants, button fly where there was a gap at the top so you left the top button unbuttoned.
