So I see...I've just posted another update (or two) on my TR.

What's your time?
It's 8 pm in Oz

It's just after 5am in Chicago. Two more hours and then I'm off until Wednesday night  I'll have to go look at your TR :teeth:

This is off-topic, but I have a question. If one of your coworkers consistently showed up to work out of uniform and occasionally showed up in clothes that were not only out of uniform, but inappropriate for the workplace, what would you do? I'm just asking because my main coworker (we work in "teams", and she's the one I work with) showed up to work tonight in tiny white shorts and a low-cut pink tank top. Our uniform is khaki pants and a white top. She claims she didn't have a clean uniform, but she had also tried to call in sick... Yet she acted, sounded, and looked perfectly healthy. :confused3

Yesterday was our first 80+ degree day, so I think she just wanted to go to the lakefront and didn't bother going home to change when they refused to accept her call-in.

If I had a cow-worker like that, I'd probably just leave things alone. Any action you take may backfire on you. You could:
1. Talk to her if she is mature enough to listen.
2. Tell your manager; but then that may be construed as dobbing.
3. Ignore her. You aren't her manager. He/She may eventually notice and do something about the situation.
4. Or make a request to your manager for a different co-worker.
Actually, if you think you could get a different co-worker, then maybe option 4 might work.

In life, there are always going to be people that you want to spend more time with and others that you don't.
I don't waste any time thinking about people I don't want to spend time with.

I've had to work with people that I cannot stand being in the same room with for more than 1 second. Just remember to keep things professional.

This isn't the only problem I have with her, it's just the most recent. We work with the elderly and I really don't see how what she wore to work tonight is appropriate, you know? Aside from that, she also has issues with getting her work done properly (or at all), which our boss is aware of. Your option 4 would seem best, except that there are only ten people in our department (six day shift, four night shift) and no one's willing to switch with her.

Why don't you talk with your manager? Maybe they can get the switch done for you rather than you finding someone to swap with her? Keep the conversation about you; rather than trashing her too much.

I'm struggling to keep awake. I still have a horrible cough and am going to get into bed. Been fighting this cold for the last 3 weeks and I'm so over this cough! My head is also still spinning.

I should be back at work but I'm going to see the doctor tomorrow.

It sure looks like change is in the air for you firefly. Have you been looking at job ads in Orlando?

I have talked with my manager. This has been going on for about five months, and this facility has only been open for six. I finally got sick of the nonsense and spoke with our manager about it a few weeks ago. Basically, some of the things that my coworker pulls are things that would get her certification revoked if the state knew about it. She makes mistakes with medication reminders, "forgets" to take certain residents' blood pressure in the morning (certain people have that done every morning), is rude and dismissive to the residents (especially our two residents with moderate dementia), and ignores the radio when I'm trying to get a hold of her. She also ignores Sara alarms, which are our emergency call signals. Everything else she does doesn't affect the residents, but it does affect the fact that, for example, I can't take my lunch break if she's not answering the radio because she's asleep in a vacant room. She's also consistently late, sometimes over two hours late. And then she fudges her time sheet to say that she arrived on time.

I'm really trying not to trash her. She is a good worker when there's a supervisor around, but only then. If she's left to her own devices, she doesn't do anything. We split the duties at night so that she does the meds and laundry and I do the cleaning because if she does the cleaning, it literally doesn't get done. She pulls the trash and that's it. If she worked during the daytime, she wouldn't be pulling any of this bull, but because we work overnight and there's no one here to make sure things get done, she does this.

Aww, I'm sorry you're sick  I hope you feel better soon! Being sick that long is never fun. I've been coughing and sneezing lately, but other than that I feel fine, so I think I just developed seasonal allergies at some point

It certainly seems like change is in the air. My birthday's in about ten days and my friends and the DBF and I had made plans to go to Six Flags, right? And now he's saying he can't go because he has to work. He usually doesn't know his schedule until the day before. Oh well. I haven't started looking at jobs in Orlando yet, since I won't be moving for at least two years. I have some things I have to take care of here in Chicago first, and then I want to spend some more time at my current job and save up as much money as I can (as well as buy a friggin car :headache: ). So not dealing with the Lynx system again if I do move back. That bus system is one of the reasons I lost my job at Disney in the first place!

I don't think you're trashing her...you're just having a vent; and we all need to do that!

I don't know what to say....it sounds like your manager needs to do something about her and you might want to keep a log/diary (privately) about her actions that are inappropriate.

If you think it is appropriate, you might want to let your manager know that you are concerned that an incident may occur whilst you and her are on duty and that you are going to keep a log so that you have perfect recollection of activities on every work day - just in case. That way, you are covering yourself just in case.

I have been, actually :rotfl: She suggested that if I can, get photos of anything I can so that she has proof. The video cameras only store for a certain amount of time. But yeah, this has been an ongoing thing for a long time. Our old department manager recently left the company (not sure under what circumstances) and it was her job to do something about my coworker, but she never did. So now we don't have a dept manager at the moment, so our facility director (the boss I was referring to earlier) told me that she'd do something about it. I honestly don't care what's done, as long as my coworker doesn't assume that she can get away with this stuff anymore. It's beyond ridiculous.

Thanks for listening to me vent
