Well, Delilah has an anxiety problem. She hates being alone, is afraid of the broom, mop, and vaccuum, so storms really bother her. She's also afraid of water. We think she was abused by her former owners.

I had no tv, internet, or phone line since 8 last night or so...the electric was only out for about an hr so it wasn't too bad....could have been worst. No trees or fences hit with lightning so all is good with the world today (so far)

We're good but it has caused me to do a LOT of thinking. I have to get a real plan if/when we ever have a hurricane hit here..you know water storage for us and Maxine especially. I'm going to have to do some investigating with the state.

We collect rain water and have a water tank....to water the garden. We only have about a 1600L tank capacity. The tank is raised about half a meter off the ground.

We also have 2kW solar panels on our roof. Unfortunately, the solar power that we generate goes straight back into the grid. I don't think that we're allowed to store solar power into batteries in surburbia Melbourne.....

We keep about 6 weeks worth of food in our pantry....and have a stock of candles.

It's not much; but we figure that should be enough back-up....and we don't have earthquakes, tornados, cyclones or anything in Melbourne!

Well we don't really get enough rain to fill anything that would last long enough for Maxine to drink..I;m reallu talking about I need to find info regarding how much water to store & what if anything I would have to add to it to keep it safe. Also who would move her & where or rescue her if needed. I know when Hurricane Katrina hit I saw on TV horses/owners being assisted. The time to plan is now or no one will even know we need help. Being central FL is still alot safer than the coastal areas but I'm "hearing" hurricane season can be severe this year. Last night convinced me how fast you can lose touch with the world.
