Does Florida or the US have rainwater tanks? You have a bit of land; and should be able to install a tank and collect rain water off the roof. Australia has been in drought - but I've still managed to collect rain water. It doesn't need to rain much to fill it...about 24 mm of rain (2 inches or so) should be sufficient from my roof space.
How much water does Maxine need to drink a day?
They don't tell you this...but to make rain water safe to drink, you can add bleach. I used to know the amount to add; but can't remember. They used to put it on the bottle - about 1 cap to a litre of water?? I should be able to find it on the internet.
The other thing is you can buy tablets from the hiking/camping stores....the instructions will tell you how much water to use per tablet.
