This is the first time that DD and her DH have taken the dog out in the car, where all three of them have left at the same time, for a couple of weeks. So this guy must have seen that they left and knew that the dog wasn't in there and saw his opportunity. Their dog is a black lab mix and he is huge - about the size of a great dane!

DD's original Thanksgiving plan was to come up here on Wednesday and go back on Friday. And to bring the dog. Can you imagine if they had stuck with the original plan?? Their apartment would have been wiped out!

wow- sometimes changing plans works out, in this case it save a lot of stuff.

did they get the kid?

I guess I'll keep reading.... :3dglasses

Once the police got to the apartment they did a quick search of the apartment and found DD's waitress book. That's how they ended up calling where she works. And then once they finally got the landlord on the phone to get someone out to fix the door they were able to get an emergency number (cell phone) for her DH. So they worked that from both angles.

DD said the police were very nice and sympathetic. But they also told her that since the suspect is only 15 he can't be charged as an adult! :sad2:

did they recover anything from him? and the door got fixed by the landlord or did they have to cover that?

I've been so worried about DD because of the neighborhood they live in and this just adds to it. I wish they would move up here and let us help them out a little and get their lives in order!

I would offer the same too. But When I was that age, I had to do it the hard way. You are such a good mom!!!

:scared:

I just talked to one of my best friends. (I talk about her a lot here - she's the one who is a teacher's aide at the high school and she takes the boys to school a lot for me.)

Anyway, her DD has been in the hospital for a week. She started with what seemed like a stomach virus, then got dehydrated, then they found that her enzyme level was really high. They thought it was pancreatitis (sp?) and she hasn't been allowed to eat all week. They don't seem to know what it is but they also don't seem to be doing too much to find out! I talked to her Thursday morning and put my two cents worth in. If it were my DD I'd have her transferred to a bigger hospital. She suggested that to the doctor yesterday and he just kind of dismissed her suggestion. Well, the doctor just called. Her DD's blood pressure has dropped to 90 over 45 and her enzyme levels are the highest they've been. So HE has decided to transfer her to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. I hope they can get moving and figure out what is wrong!

Hope they figure it out quickly!! glad they got to go to the bigger hospital, sorry it was under those circumstances. keeping their family in my thoughts.
