What lenses do you currently have? :hyper:

I looked at the T3i when it hit the shops. There wasn't that much of a difference to the T2i. The biggest difference was the flip & swivel (articulating) screen. Aside from that, the processing seemed the same.
For me, I'm not sure it was worth the extra money just for that feature as I don't do a lot of video from the camera.

If and when I decide to upgrade, I'd be heading toward the 7D or the 5D Mark II body.

Cannon zoom lens EF 75-300 Digital high defifnition 2.2x telephoto and a wide lens. I am not doing pro shots so hopefully these will be good enough.

Which wide (angle?) lens do you have?

The 75 - 300 mm will get you close ups...great for golf from afar, especially when you couple it with the 2x telephoto.....but you won't always want to take shots in that range.

Not sure I need to find it in the other bed room. Do you have any good recommendations?

The 18 - 55 mm kit/starter lens is always a good starter lens. I would assume that you already have this one, if you previously purchased a Canon dSLR.
You won't be able to take night time shots without a flash or without using a tripod (or in dark rides at Disney); but it would probably serve your purposes well.
I used this lens through one WDW trip; and it was great.

I ended up with the 17 - 55 mm (f/2.8) lens. It is a LOT more money....more than the body; but I used it for those WoC shots you saw without the need for a tripod. It's pretty much permanently on my camera these days.

Usnuz - that 17 - 55mm lens...is it the one that is f/3.5 - 5.6; or is it f/2.8?

I would check the "wide lens" that you already have.

Canon have about 3 EF-S lenses in the range of 17 or 18 mm to 55 mm, with different internals and different aperture size (the f-stop). And then there is also the 18 - 85 mm EF-S lens as well.

I believe the 18 - 55mm f/3.5-5.6 II is the oldest of the lot. It does not have Internal Stabilisation, which means that you need to have a very steady hand when taking the picture.

The 18 - 55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens is the one that they include as a "kit" i.e., lens and body, and have been doing this for at least the last 18 months. This is the first lens I ever got and the one that I used for the May and October 2010 trip. We loved it...the only downside was that we couldn't take decent shots in the dark rides. If you plan to take shots at night and don't want to use a flash, you'll need a tripod (and a longer exposure time) for this lens. It is fabulous in the daytime. The IS = Internal Stabilization and the lens is designed to compensate for some degree of shaking when you take the shot.

The 17 - 55 mm f/2.8 IS USM lens is the most expensive of the lot. It is over $1K for this lens. It has image stabilization and uses the UltraSonic Motor, which make the lens focus faster and quieter....plus uses less energy. This is the lens that I've been using and used it for the WoC and the dark rides.

You might want to check which lens you have before you bid on anything on eBay.

ps. If you already have the 18-55mm IS f/3.5 - 5.6 and want to take shots in the dark, you don't need to buy the f/2.8. You can consider getting a prime or fixed focus lens. I bought a 50mm f/1.8 lens for the October trip. It costs under $100 and I thought it worked reasonably well for me. If I had that time over again in October, I think I would have been better off investigating buying a 35 mm f/1.8 lens instead. The 50 mm didn't give me the width I needed for Disney....
